Thank you for the question. The reason is that more distal blocks do not interfere that much with ambulation. Popliteal block is more complete/simpler but results in inability to ambulate. Best regards!
Today I did my first ankle block, everything was ok but at the end of the surgery the patient started feeling the stitches, do you think that was the superficial peroneal nerve? I used chirocaine 0,75% 5ml/nerves. Thanks for your help!

I think septum between fibula and superficial fascia is difficult to be visualized.
Indeed. However, it is much easier to visualize the septum than the nerve. So the former can be used as a surrogate for the latter. Best regards
