Scott’s sense of call and response and repetition in his solos are incredible. It’s like Jimi Hendrix in a jazz fusion band. The licks he’s playing aren’t jazzy. It’s funky and blues inspired. Not a lot of guitarists play like that.
Even though Scott was a great guitarist\composer, unfortunately he was not a very good match with the Chic Corea band. Carlos Rios was so much more creative and a better fit. Frank Gambale was absolutely perfect as well..
