I have two Caine theories after this episode: 1. The reason why he doesn't remember past therapy sessions with Zooble is because they keep saying "Forget it!" and he interprets that literally. 2. The reason he puts abstracted circus members in the cellar is to try and calm them down with the darkness. The funniest part of the therapy session is that if you pay close attention, whenever Zooble says "forget it," Caine forgets about whatever they were talking about. Which explains why he can't ever remember why Zooble is upset. Being an AI, he takes everything the humans trapped in his world say way too literally.
i think the reason he was so infatuated when the monster opened its mouth was becuase all the eyes inside reminded him of his wifes abstracted form. also one good thing about the cellar that cain sends the abstracts to is that at least its dark so maybe it also helps keep the rest calm too. it makes me wonder if the insanity/abstractedness comes from sensory overload with the brain struggling to keep up with the circus nonsence and kinger survived so long becuase he gives his brain breaks with the darkness
In the last episode when Kinger was talking to Ragatha on the way back to the candy city with the Fudge he was trying to comfort her and recalled when she arrived at the circus while he had the bucket on his head. As in he was in the dark while talking about it. That’s excellent writing, I loved that.
The main theme of this show seems to be mental health in general; not just for Pomni, but for everyone. Apparently even Caine. And with what Kinger mentioned about "7 years of computer science", I really do feel like he has a closer connection to the Circus than the others, beyond just being there the longest.
There is something doubly soul crushing by the fact that Kinger becomes more lucid in darkness but becomes the brightest beacon of light when holding his breath. This new body in the circus also works against him and only in darkness he is himself again.
That's what I was thinking. He's a computer program and he's being given a direct command. Someone says forget it and he takes that as an instruction to delete the memory of whatever they were just talking about.
@@wendyheatherwood also zooble says "It's me, remember" and then Caine remembers. But zooble also explained her problem in the same sentence so maybe it wasn't just the "remember" part.

Having seen episode four, it felt like it gave us a little bit more with Zooble to see how they care about Gangle in helping her better regulate her emotions with a mask they had in their box of parts. That's a win to see more Zooble
Really hoping 3 isn't Zooble's. It would be cool if Zooble's customization comes back as a way they break the simulation: By crafting such an inexplicable combination that the game glitches around it

I agree, although I must note that Pomni seems to get more and more aggressive each episode. From occasional swears in ep. 1 to the scene near dumbwaiter in ep. 3 - she is a *lot* angrier than before
@@asuraofwrath that's not good. that's REALLY not good. an angry Pomni is something I think the world is NOT ready to see. i'm fine with Jax being a horrible person cuz GLITCH themselves say that noone will like Jax once this series ends.
I just realized in EP 1 the first time pomni entered they started talking about kinger he said “did someone say something about insect collection?” that’s why he said that because his wife loved bugs she got him to like them. That’s actually a really cool detail they added.
Ahhhhh. I just realized. In episode 2, during Koufmo funeral, Kinger was all the time with his eyes closed while he talked about memories with him. He was trying to keep himself in "darkness" to remember better.
This episode was great! The best one so far, Kinger is such a lovable and interesting character, he is like a grandfather with Alzheimer who occasionally has moments of clarity, he doesn't remember you, but he does remember that he loves you. Also all the Zooble scenes were great, they are my favorite character since day one and i hope we have a whole episode just for them, they obviously have body dysmorphia, they are clearly trans, maybe they already had problems with their own body in real life and it just aggravated inside the Digital Circus, Gooseworx confirmed that the human characters inside the Circus remembers things from their past lives like their jobs, family, friends and personality, but they dont remember their own names and sometimes some facts about themselves, and Goose specifically confirmed that Zooble doesn't remember if they were a boy or a girl while human and that they feel about that, probably because they identified as non-binary. Also, I can't wait to see your next The Owl House reaction video, i have been waiting the whole week for it, i hope you post it soon.
I felt so bad for kinger when he said "you look beautiful, honey" cua it wasn't hypnosis or anything like that. The many eyes looked just like his wife in their last moments, and not only that but after that line, from that point on he begins becoming more lucid because he was reminded of his wife.
I love we get Kinger as a Dad figure 😭 Also I think the reason he's losing his memories/why he becomes lucid in the darkness could be because the environment of the circus tent is overstimulating and at the same time because it never changes it's causes his mind to degrade overtime. Being trapped in the circus will make mostly everyone go insane as some point but the constant brightlight and oversaturated colors of everything in the circus would become overwhelming and nauseating (I can definitely relate to that). The adventures help to keep them stimulated literally. Without them giving their minds a change of pace, the human mind deteriorates without any sensory stimulation. Then if Kinger has been here the longest it's not hard to believe that as his mind deteriorates he'd lose his memories. Then in the darkness where his mind can be given a rest he starts to remember, and the thing he remembers most/best is a moment that has so much significance to him emotionally. I think it also helps that in that memory he's engulfed in darkness so his brain makes that link cognitively when he's in the dark.
Kinger was definitely the highlight of the episode! 💜🧡💚 He was so brave, protectively, kind, and wise to Pomni, I loved their interaction so much! It was so sweet! He’s one of my favorite characters! Zooble finally got their moment to shine and I felt so bad for them. I can relate to Zooble in a personal level with their insecurities and hating their body. 🎃💀👻 this episode was so terrifyingly good! 10/10!
What Kinger said about the worst thing you can do is making others feel unwanted or worthless makes Jax even more suspicious to me in regard to the NPC theory with him
9:19 caine was really paying attention in this scene, you can see from his face on the left, but then hes suddenly not paying attention anymore, but only when zooble says forget it at 9:27 i wonder...
I love how they made kinger's holding breathe gimmick is like The beacon of light in the darkness. it really is like "when everything is hopeless, kinger will be there to save the day".
I also really like that, unlike in episode 2, the person she bonded with wasn't ripped away from her. Sure, Kinger won't always have that much clarity, but Pomni knows where to go to find it again: his pillow fort. It's really interesting that Pomni's mental state seems to get worse with each episode, but for every episode after the first one, her situation within the circus itself and her feelings towards the other characters becomes more stable and safe.
Based on how he was when we met him, Lucifer would 100% give this guy a hall pass to go put his recordings up in his house because he thought it was funny. Hell, he probably asked if he could film it and put this epic prank on the living on TV for the resident demons to enjoy.
In the first episode when kinger is introduced he comes out of the pillow fort asking if anyone was talking about an insect collection, aka referring to his wife, meanwhile in the second episode he points out the candy butterfly as soon as they enter the kingdom, nice details when looking back
With kinger's explanation, jax's growing aggravation at being ignored and zooble's issues, i honestly think Jax is going to get so mad people aren't paying attention to him anymore he's going to push zooble too far and make them abstract
I have a running theory that Jax is actually an NPC replica of the original Jax, which is why he somehow has access to all the keys, breaks the fourth wall repeatedly despite nobody else knowing, and why he refuses to hold his breath.
It looks like they’re gonna give Pomni one-on-one time with each character in each episode, and they seem to be foreshadowing who it’ll be each time. Episode 2 hinted that Kinger’s mind settles down when he’s in darkness, which came to fruition here. This episode revealed that Zooble has mental health issues, meaning it’s likely the next episode is going to dive deeper into their backstory. My theory is that Zooble entered the circus in the hopes that they’d find some sort of cure for their body dysmorphia, deliberately choosing an avatar with interchangeable body parts, only to find that it didn’t help them, and now they’re stuck in a body they possibly hate even more.
kinger is like me when i try to start conversations, thats why hes my favourite character. i also forget A LOT too so this episode made me bawl my eyes
Kinger and Pomni have been my favorite characters since the pilot so a episode largely centered around them was a real treat. If you watch Kinger he demonstrates good gun safety as well. When Pomni crosses his sight he raised the gun so it wasn't pointing at her. He spins the gun in his hand when Pomni gives it to him. When the angle appears he pushes Pomni behind him both to protect her and so he had a clear field of fire. Also if you pay attention the longer he is in darkness the more coherent and complex his sentences become from simple sentences to a complex monologue about his wife to a speech to inspire Pomni.
Caine is the way he is for two reasons: 1. He was designed to make games for children, so all his "solutions" come in the form of games 2. His AI has started to "hallucinate" because it's been left running for too long.
Just realized: Caine: “and for the first time ever you can…” It’s go to hell. The rest of the sentence was “for the first time ever you can go to hell” Because they literally go to hell as part of the plot of the adventure 😂
There's a theory that Kinger helped create the Circus. He seems to apologize for it in this episode "It's my fault we went down this path, wasn't it? I'm really sorry for that." The part in the tapes where he's listening so intently talks about how the npc shot his wife while trying to hunt the angel "In my attempts to protect her, I ended up becoming the monster myself." Kind of makes me think it was Kinger's fault that his wife ended up in the circus. Like maybe she was on Death's doorstep and he wanted to preserve her mind in the game or something.
I really think Kinger is one of the people that made the Digital Circus. It would make sense as he was there the longest (as stated in ep1) and seems to be very smart when enveloped in darkness (as we see in ep3). He also mentioned computer science, which could directly refer to him. Mr. Mildenhall could also be like the NPC version of Kinger, albeit not a good person, when he mentioned the wife and theoretical children. The wife has been confirmed and he does seem like he could have been the dad of the group before he lost his mind. He definitely gave off massive dad vibes in this episode, so it doesn't seem too far off. The souls also somehow knew that Kinger had a wife and knew who he was, but that could've been Caine programming that in sort of as a fully immersive experience.
When kinger almost got eaten and hypnotized by the lights, I think that the monster was supposed to be a IT reference with the dead lights or whatever those lights are called
Kinger doesn't fear abstraction because he views it as a reunion with his wife whuch could ply into how he lasted so long he has something to look forward to if he does
I just noticed something. Kinger was able to swear when he was driving the souls out. Granted it was a lighter swear, but I think they would normally censor "damn". I wonder if that was just because of where they were or if there's more to it.
in the 2nd episode kinger remembers how long it takes ragatha to adjust to the circus because he has a bucket over his head. and in the 1st episode he rambles on about an insect collection, the thing his wife loved to talk about
My theory is that there used to be a second entity alongside caine (replaced by Bubble I guess?) meant to balance out his lunacy. Either something happened to it, or it was never even made, who knows? It would be strange if a company was called "C+A" and only one of the letters were relevant. Also, I wish they'd shown Pomni talking with Zooble about the adventure at the end or something. Just so Zooble could go "Wait, *that's* what Caine meant by 'mature'? Wtf is wrong with him?" I feel like this series is building towards an eventual intervention with Caine or something.
I left a comment or two about this on other reactions and whatnot, but since you called it out so much I wanted to say something here too. I hope we get to learn more about Kinger's past. I'm curious to know what exactly he went through to gain that wisdom, because that's one of the biggest ways I relate to Kinger now: Much wisdom gained from situations nobody ever wants to be in. That and that it took me 7 years to get my Bachelor's degree. Stupid mental conditions affecting the way I think and learn so heavily...
Poor Pomni i feel bad for her in this episode and kinger as well, kinger is like Pomni's guardian angel, he knows how she feels because he's the same way with his wife
I hope they mention or show in future episodes that Pomni has visits with Kinger in the fort. I’m sure it would be really good for both of them! It makes sense that Kinger usually chooses to be in the fort and stay lucid.
Things noticed in this ep Kinger background, his sane seems to be a great father figure Zooble turned out to be aware of everyone personalities and seem to be more caring than superficially seen Caine is self-aware? Jax got owned 😂 Ragatha and gangle is just being themselves
OH MY GOD CAPTIONS. I always thought he was saying "I used to hate books" because I didn't know what entomology was and thought it was just super into books. And I didn't care enough to check.
The discussion Kinger and Pomni had really resonated with me. I too cherish the memories I have with people because they help keep me going, and I want to enjoy what I can just in case they disappear one day. Amazingly done scene.
I wonder if Kinger might've gotten in an argument with his wife and said or did something really mean and hurtful to her before she abstracted and the reason why i say this is because of when him and Pomni were in hell he said to Pomni cherish the people around you because you never know when they'll be gone in this world the worst thing you can do is make someone think they're not wanted or loved
If being in the dark calms down abstracted humans, it is entirely possible that Kinger's memory being so affected by light and dark could be a warning sign for his abstraction. It doesn't always have to be memory, just like how everyone has a different reaction to holding thier breath. But the fact that his madness calms down in the dark might be an ill omen.
I think that we're heading to a Kung Fu panda 2/jujutsu kaisen situation, where all pomni's traumas and suffering lead her to reach enlightenment. And with her new found wisdom she'll help everyone to deal with their issues, specially Caine who'll end up letting they exit the circus
I do think, looking at all the lessons Pomni is learning, first from talking with Gummygoo, now from talking with Kinger, it’s building to something. I think this is a Soma situation since at the end of episode 1 we get a peek outside, and there’s a headset sitting on the desk, notably without an original pomni passed out in it or laying somewhere. I feel like this is building up to them all learning that they aren’t their original selves and there truly is no escape, and all she’s learning about the importance of those you care about will be what lets her do a big speech to keep everyone from abstracting
I have a theory that Kinger created the circus and made Cane. Because he says seven years of computer science for this and Jax say's in the first episode that Kinger has been here the longest.
Once thing I’m curious about is the company name C&A Caine could be a play on the word Cane of course. But what if it isn’t… what if C&A stands for Cain and Abel
WHO wants Pomni to suffer? Is she talking about Caine? But he isnt targeting her specifically, so I doubt it. Is "he" the reason she went to that old freaky pc and tried out that game, teleporting her into that world?
"of course man" why shouldn't he inadvertently do that. Why I say inadvertently, he doesn't realize that what he is doing is making people get sick and tired of him.
@@MyNameIsHi-010 Pomni says that "he" wants to make her suffer. Sounds like shes talking about someone specifically who WANTS people to suffer and sounds like someone is specifically targetting her. Doesnt sound like Caine.

23:50 but... but wouldn't he have been dragged down himself after he beheaded it? Feels more like Caine wasn't expecting them to actually shoot it, and changed the story in a panic, which personally I love. Fits perfectly.

This episode actually made me wonder what Zooble does while everyone is out on adventures... Maybe they just prefer to be alone most of the time, they seem pretty irritable interacting with other people... Not in a "I don't like these weirdos" kind of way, but mostly because they're dealing with their own discomfort over their body. I actually do hope we get more focus on Zooble in a future episode; we got a little bit on insight as to what their deal is, but it still feels like the focus was more on Kinger this episode, which by the way, Kinger is the GOAT! Best character in the whole show! Edit: By the way, if you were to do a reaction to the Spooky Month series, I'd totally watch them!
Just a brief: Goose explicitly said that the idea that maybe the members of the circus remember their past lives is purely fanon, because they actually remember everything except for their names.
I was a bit off the mark with Kinger's condition. I thought it was a reverse claustrophobia situation because he seemed more lucid with the bucket on his head in episode 2 and his fort

i think the reason he was so infatuated when the monster opened its mouth was becuase all the eyes inside reminded him of his wifes abstracted form. also one good thing about the cellar that cain sends the abstracts to is that at least its dark so maybe it also helps keep the rest calm too. it makes me wonder if the insanity/abstractedness comes from sensory overload with the brain struggling to keep up with the circus nonsence and kinger survived so long becuase he gives his brain breaks with the darkness
In the last episode when Kinger was talking to Ragatha on the way back to the candy city with the Fudge he was trying to comfort her and recalled when she arrived at the circus while he had the bucket on his head. As in he was in the dark while talking about it. That’s excellent writing, I loved that.

@@CODEX_GACHA the Kinger face was the best
The main theme of this show seems to be mental health in general; not just for Pomni, but for everyone. Apparently even Caine. And with what Kinger mentioned about "7 years of computer science", I really do feel like he has a closer connection to the Circus than the others, beyond just being there the longest.
There is something doubly soul crushing by the fact that Kinger becomes more lucid in darkness but becomes the brightest beacon of light when holding his breath. This new body in the circus also works against him and only in darkness he is himself again.
this 💯
I'm wondering if when zooble says "forget it" Caine, willingly or unwillingly, forgets what was just happening.
"Forget it" "never mind" so on
That's what I was thinking.
Yes yess he's reacting like he's receiving orders in programming

I agree, although I must note that Pomni seems to get more and more aggressive each episode. From occasional swears in ep. 1 to the scene near dumbwaiter in ep. 3 - she is a *lot* angrier than before

I just realized in EP 1 the first time pomni entered they started talking about kinger he said “did someone say something about insect collection?” that’s why he said that because his wife loved bugs she got him to like them. That’s actually a really cool detail they added.
incect collection
*Insect collection
And he called the candy bugs beautiful in EP 2
'I'm starting to think' is GODTIER foreshadowing
Ahhhhh. I just realized. In episode 2, during Koufmo funeral, Kinger was all the time with his eyes closed while he talked about memories with him. He was trying to keep himself in "darkness" to remember better.
“Zooble turns straight”
This line killed me
This episode was great!
IKR. Kinger is such a interesting character.
I felt so bad for kinger when he said "you look beautiful, honey" cua it wasn't hypnosis or anything like that. The many eyes looked just like his wife in their last moments, and not only that but after that line, from that point on he begins becoming more lucid because he was reminded of his wife.
Rizzgatha instantly charms another lady NPC
That's just how women are. They are very social people.
I wonder if thats going to be a recurring theme and I genuinely hope it is
@@MYSTERIOUS-r9nsigh…..I’m slowly wishing I was a woman…..
No, you shouldn't feel that way. Just get out there, and make friends.
@@MYSTERIOUS-r9n I’ve have tried.
But I’m autistic and suffer from ADHD.
I love we get Kinger as a Dad figure 😭
Also I think the reason he's losing his memories/why he becomes lucid in the darkness could be because the environment of the circus tent is overstimulating and at the same time because it never changes it's causes his mind to degrade overtime.
He was so brave, protectively, kind, and wise to Pomni, I loved their interaction so much! It was so sweet! He’s one of my favorite characters! Zooble finally got their moment to shine and I felt so bad for them. I can relate to Zooble in a personal level with their insecurities and hating their body.
🎃💀👻 this episode was so terrifyingly good! 10/10!
What Kinger said about the worst thing you can do is making others feel unwanted or worthless makes Jax even more suspicious to me in regard to the NPC theory with him
he is confirmed not to be an NPC
9:19 caine was really paying attention in this scene, you can see from his face on the left, but then hes suddenly not paying attention anymore, but only when zooble says forget it at 9:27 i wonder...
That's why in the pilot kinger was talking about the insect collection so he could remember his wife, queenie
37:12 Fun fact: In the Spanish dub, Caine calls everyone a "Milky Furry" and in the Polish dub he calls them" My Skibidi Sigmas". Cringe
WAIT! That why he was helpful to Ragatha when his head was in the bucket in episode 2!
OHHH That is smart
I love how they made kinger's holding breathe gimmick is like The beacon of light in the darkness. it really is like "when everything is hopeless, kinger will be there to save the day".
I'm glad they they decided to expand on Kinger's backstory!
This episode honestly reminded me of when horror was horror and not just a series of jumpscares
In the first episode when kinger is introduced he comes out of the pillow fort asking if anyone was talking about an insect collection, aka referring to his wife, meanwhile in the second episode he points out the candy butterfly as soon as they enter the kingdom, nice details when looking back
26:40 WAIT, WEEBY IS AN EPIC FAN?!?!
Winions are everywhere it's time to get more reactions
With kinger's explanation, jax's growing aggravation at being ignored and zooble's issues, i honestly think Jax is going to get so mad people aren't paying attention to him anymore he's going to push zooble too far and make them abstract
29:22 what he meant is 7 years of studying computer science
I have a running theory that Jax is actually an NPC replica of the original Jax, which is why he somehow has access to all the keys, breaks the fourth wall repeatedly despite nobody else knowing, and why he refuses to hold his breath.
Woah that’s a new take on the NPC Jax theory. Interesting
Pomni at Kinger: You are my dad- you're my dad! Boogie-oogie-oogie!

kinger is like me when i try to start conversations, thats why hes my favourite character. i also forget A LOT too so this episode made me bawl my eyes
2:12 This is extra funny since Jax's VA and Zooble's VA are in a straight relationship (as of last I checked)
They are
Kinger and Pomni have been my favorite characters since the pilot so a episode largely centered around them was a real treat.
I really liked the scene where Kinger shines. It reminded me of that scene of an angel walking a soul out of hell.
Caine is the way he is for two reasons:
1. He was designed to make games for children, so all his "solutions" come in the form of games
2. His AI has started to "hallucinate" because it's been left running for too long.
Just realized:
Caine: “and for the first time ever you can…”
It’s go to hell. The rest of the sentence was “for the first time ever you can go to hell”
Because they literally go to hell as part of the plot of the adventure 😂
There's a theory that Kinger helped create the Circus. He seems to apologize for it in this episode "It's my fault we went down this path, wasn't it? I'm really sorry for that." The part in the tapes where he's listening so intently talks about how the npc shot his wife while trying to hunt the angel "In my attempts to protect her, I ended up becoming the monster myself." Kind of makes me think it was Kinger's fault that his wife ended up in the circus. Like maybe she was on Death's doorstep and he wanted to preserve her mind in the game or something.
They went down this path in the manor because Kinger pulled Pomni's eye with him into the scary mouth door. That's why he says it is his fault
@@bookwermofthefandoms Red herring.
Now I want someone to draw fanart of Pomni and Kinger sitting in the pillow fort and talking about bugs (as friends not in a shipping way)
I really think Kinger is one of the people that made the Digital Circus.
I love how you always notice and point out the little moments that actually really matter (and also omg you listen to EPIC)
When kinger almost got eaten and hypnotized by the lights, I think that the monster was supposed to be a IT reference with the dead lights or whatever those lights are called
30:20 WoG said that characters still have their memories, the only thing they don't remember is their names.

Age wise kinger could technically be pomnis dad

Jax and Zooble are the ones who are 22. Pomni is actually 25.
I hope they mention or show in future episodes that Pomni has visits with Kinger in the fort. I’m sure it would be really good for both of them! It makes sense that Kinger usually chooses to be in the fort and stay lucid.

OH MY GOD CAPTIONS. I always thought he was saying "I used to hate books" because I didn't know what entomology was and thought it was just super into books. And I didn't care enough to check.
I just love how it shows how a human and a AI can stress the heck out over not remembering things
Let's stop for a moment and appreciate the fact that Caine put sentience into a prop just because
The discussion Kinger and Pomni had really resonated with me.
That's what I thought too! He got mad and said something he didn't mean, maybe?
If being in the dark calms down abstracted humans, it is entirely possible that Kinger's memory being so affected by light and dark could be a warning sign for his abstraction. It doesn't always have to be memory, just like how everyone has a different reaction to holding thier breath.
But the fact that his madness calms down in the dark might be an ill omen.
37:12 in the polish dub caine calls them skibidi sigmas
I think that we're heading to a Kung Fu panda 2/jujutsu kaisen situation, where all pomni's traumas and suffering lead her to reach enlightenment. And with her new found wisdom she'll help everyone to deal with their issues, specially Caine who'll end up letting they exit the circus
Man, i cried during this and the last episode, really like series that can make me feel things
Gotta assume the Late Mrs. Mildenhall (and maybe some other ghost hosts) tied up Jax; you know Rags and Gang wouldn't be able to subdue him.
The reason he sayed “you look beautiful honey” to the monster is because the eyes in the mouth reminds him of his abstracted wife
Once thing I’m curious about is the company name C&A
Caine could be a play on the word Cane of course.

KINGER IS THE ONE TRUE KING! LONG LIVE THE KING, THE LIGHT THAT GUIDES THE CIRCUS.
I think Jax is a rogue NPC, and already doesn't breath.
Kinger’s VA plays the main character in Re:Zeros dub, not surprising he can bring some serious emotion to the table. Hes good at tugging heartstrings.
I was a bit off the mark with Kinger's condition. I thought it was a reverse claustrophobia situation because he seemed more lucid with the bucket on his head in episode 2 and his fort
Can we talk about how Ragatha was able to overtake and tie Jax up so he couldn't do anymore damage then he's already done?
He is a King after all.
