I have alot of respect for you. This video seemed so painful for you to make. I do understand what you meant by saying people expect to much when buying a cheap car. And I also in away understand people expecting more because most the time it's all the money they have but not to sound mean that really isn't your fault. I am upset at myself for not getting the chance to buy that Lexus LS 330 you recently showed on TH-cam. That was my price range and I'm sure it would have lasted me until I'm no longer able to drive. Accords, Acura Legends...... I could only afford beat up chevy's. I lived in a dump and struggled. It took many years but finally I had success the last decade or so. I have bought some 20 cars during the past decade, all these 90's cars I couldn't have back then. I wanted to experience what I couldn't have back then. I never sold one of them, gave them away instead. I spent a fortune sorting out all these cars and making them perfect. I gave 3 of them(Maxima & 2 Accords) to my landscaper. He struggles a bit so he sold them quickly for some good cash and is eternally grateful. The rest went to family members. If the alternator went bad 6 months later, I heard about it. If you want an enemy, give him something.
Yup, but they also get screwed over a lot too. The cheap price range attracts the worst sales too. Customers won't pay for an independent mechanic to do a PPI, do Payday type loans instead of cash, etc. some of these folks are scraping by working 3 jobs and swing into a used lot on their lunch break while driving a friends loaner. No time for doing homework. It attracts the type of salesmen that give the car industry the worst reputation. Anthony is a gem! But he recognizes that he doesn't usually target this customer segment.

Most of them expect the car to run as a daily driver without having to spend $3,000 to repair it. Not for someone who is not capable of major repair work should even consider buying this one. Just to fix the minor oil leak' he says this one has' will take your mechanic 3 hours, just to remove the oil pan. That's a $500 repair just to replace a $70 gasket. This is not your "father's Oldsmobile"
Got a 2010 Lucerne CX. I baby my car and the weirdest thing was that the motor mounts went and the alternator. Outside of that, just normal wear and tear. 120000 miles this point. 70000 miles are mine

The 3.9 is from the "High Value" family that replaced the 3800. These were not bad engines. Unfortunately GM went with the 3.6 engines instead of these
In response to another comment, this is not a GDI its a Port Fuel Injection engine as well not known for timing chain issues. The 3.9 is based off the 3.4 GM V6. While the GM 3.6 is known for those issues
I own a Buick Lucerne with a 3.9 I’ve read and seen that these 3.9 v6 can have timing chain problems but is rare I’ve had mine over a year now so far nothing bad about the motor aside from being thirsty in town it’s ridiculously comfortable on the highway tho
@@d3m0niccity yeah, if you're looking for a Buick Lucerne the ones to look for are the 3.8L V6 from the 06-08 models. Not as quick but its the most reliable engine you can get from GM.
This would make a nice 1st car for someone....to need new valve cover gaskeys isn't bad...with the mileage it would be about time anyway...interior is nice and clean....I'd buy it then fix whatever else is going on then put a otber 3 or 400,000 miles on it...good job Anthony.....
These can be wonderful cars and last well over 200,000 miles if you take care of them and do proper preventative maintenance with that 3.9 V6. Some repairs can be rather costly because parts on these cars while certain parts can be expensive because they share parts with a Cadillac but for the most part these are very good cars for people who like a quiet comfortable ride especially people who travel long distances. I love my Lucerne it's definitely not going anywhere in a hurry lol but it's a comfortable spacious ride
Good daily driver. v6 and gently used by seniors. After LeSabre and Park Aves, this looked like a giant Honda, especially the cheaper seats & rear tail lights. Nice repairs Anthony. Good safe buy for another senior or college kiddo
It would be a great first car for a teenager. I did not have a Buick but I did have a 2007 Chevy Impala with the 3.9 V6. Best thing to tell the person who purchases this vehicle is preventive maintenance is everything. Under the hood my Impala was completely original I replace nothing same with the transmission I traded it with 155,000 miles it still had all the dealer markings and stickers on it over 95% of the engine. I changed the oil and filter every 3500 miles. Everyone loves the bulletproof 3.8 I owned several of those great engines But I also love the 3.9 and I have to admit and everybody's going to argue about this I also love the 3.6 the reason why I say preventive maintenance is I didn't know those Vehicles had a timing chain issue until after I no longer had them LOL! I had a 2007 Saturn Aurora XR 3.6 V6 trade it with 151,000 miles original engine, transmission and timing chain I like the engine so much I purchased a 2014 Chevy Impala and I wouldn't buy it unless it had the 3.6 in it. Same with that vehicle the original engine, transmission, and timing chain 160,000 miles when traded it. After I no longer have the vehicles that's when I heard about the 3.6 V6 troubles. I may have just gotten lucky twice but I believe preventative maintenance is key. 😊
Its well worth it ive seen the stuff coming off lots at that price there no good that looks like a clean car honest car at the price point well worth it. Also its a higher mileage car sounds like if its gone this far probably had its issues worked out never owed a bad buick they seem reliable.
Great price for a vehicle with complete functioning climate control and presents well for age/mileage. It takes almost 5-6K$ these days to get a car that’s decent, passes an inspection, and can be turn key ready to go. This is a steal. And it uses GMs 3400 for its baseline development of the 3900 so still nice simple tech.
This is a great deal given the used car market right now, and Lucernes make a nice daily driver, they're screwed together pretty nice and aren't expensive to keep going. DTS Lite. This car has the 3.9/3900 V6 "High Value" engine. These are based on the older GM 60° V6 engine family, and are a cousin of the 3500 V6 that came in FWD Impalas, etc. These are not a bad engine, after cars like the Lucerne ended production, GM went with the 3.6 "High Feature" engine family instead, and those are the engines with timing chain issues, etc.

By the time I completed the restoration I was in the car for over $6,000 and it had 72,000 miles. It now has 88,242 miles. They are fine automobiles.

Whoever buys it and if they are Massachusetts residents all that car needs is a safety inspection. I believe anything 2008 and below. My car every light on the dashboard is on it's leaking oil driver side airbag light is on because of the seat belt tensionor needs to be replaced and he passes it every year. He said it only needs a safety inspection. Right now I'm driving a 05 Carrolla and it needs so much work but I gave up on it 😂😂
My experience while driving this car. I rented the Lucerne for a week while in ABQ, NM. I turned it back in after 4hours - HORRIBLE seats. There was no way I was going to drive this car for a week.

Good deal for one of these the last of the true great FWD GM sedans. I've owned a 2009 Lucerne with the 3.9 not as great as the 3.8 but seen many of these with over 200,000 miles still going.
Hey Anthony just looking out for you but be careful of these Buicks certain years had Dash Wiring Issues and would short out and burn up 😔 looked at several that were caught in time and others Burned to a Crisp and seen a few at LKQ.
@@specialtymotorcars I don't know I know some defects don't really get pushed out to the public, for example Ford knows about the Mercury Mountainer that has Defective Rear Coil Springs Rusting out and releasing into the back wheels and causing accidents, just like They knew about the cheap little part that could have kept early Pinto's from blowing up but they sent them on down the assembly line.
The car will get you from point "A" to point "B". Anything else in between is a bonus. For $2,995, it's a great deal. Or would you rather go out and pay $20,000 to $25,000 for another used car and take a chance that it's not a lemon. Those are your options.
Just to fix a minor oil pan gasket leak is a major deal on this car. You have to disassemble half of the engine and lift it 4 inches to get the oil pan out. There are many electrical problems that are common with this car. Ignition tumbler, door lock regulator, window lift motors just to name a few. Be prepared to do a lot of work other than paint repairs. If you can't fix these things yourself, this car is a real money pit and not for you.
I’d buy it for $2k but only if you did a full re-paint, all new Michelin Cross Climate tires, alignment, valve cover gaskets and a 96 month bumper to bumper warranty. Ohh and I need financing too… at 0% with no money down….
Motor is on last leg. Timing chain issues, timing cover leaks, GDI engine tons of carbon build up, motor mounts, lower control arm bushings....we love ya but RUN AWAY
These engines are not GDI engines and are not known for timing chain issues you might be talking about the GM 3.6 not the 3.9 this engine is based off the GM 3400 I've owned a Lucerne with this engine and seen many with over 200,000 miles
In my opinion, it's really sad what these Lucernes became after the Park Avenues. The Park Avenues were so much more luxurious and better trimmed on the inside and out. And this is a top of the line CXL model. The interior looks so bland that it doesn't look any nicer than a base model Malibu.
@klwthe3rd CXS was the top of the line model with the Northstar and different interior appointments. The CXL was the mid range that could be had with the Northstar or the V6, after a few years I think options were shuffled or made standard, the CXS became the Super and the CX and CXL remained below that

Top of the line was the CXS/Super. These are not much different from the same year DTS inside, and are put together pretty well
@@MattTrakker350Yes i did forget about the Super model. But the CXS which was a lower sports model was below the CXL in MSRP.
@klwthe3rd CXS was the top of the line model with the Northstar and different interior appointments. The CXL was the mid range that could be had with the Northstar or the V6, after a few years I think options were shuffled or made standard, the CXS became the Super and the CX and CXL remained below that
@klwthe3rd they really should have just kept the Lesabre or Park Ave nomenclature to these cars. As you can see it was confusing with no carryover history to it
