Arsenal fan here, Van Dijk is the best centre back in PL history. Forget nostalgia, everyone called Terry world class but imagine him in the Liverpool system for the last 6 years with the high line. He'd have got chewed up. Van Dijk absolutely is world class

How do you honestly say Vvd isn't better than Kompany, Stam etc. when in previous interviews both former players themselves have put Vvd at no.1 on the list of all time CBs in the league. Stam even picked Van Dijk as a partner over Ferdinand and Vidic.
Cundy's argument that VVD has won only one PL title is shitty and unfair. Liverpool were against the winning machine Man City, in a few seasons got near 100 points but even that wasnt enough. i think cundy is confusing ‘world class’ with ‘elite’ - zidane, messi and ronaldo are world class and elite, but it doesn’t mean that anyone who isn’t quite on their level can’t be world class
It's all subjective though isn't it, Van Dijk is an elite defender and is up there with the likes of Maldini, Nesta etc in terms of how good he is at the job he's supposed to do on the pitch in my opinion. He's an elite defender like Zidane is an elite midfielder and Messi and CR7 are elite forwards. Messi is an elite midfielder as well which is mental.

Calling Van Dijk overatted is the dumbest football argument ever. John Terry may be brilliant, but he played with one of the best defensive midfield setups ever. He played with Essien, Mike, Makelele, and many more strong, defensive midfield. U can't measure with Trophies any good defender in Realmadrid will win tons of Trophies. Van Dijk has been the best CB in the World over the last 6 years, and even at 33 he's one of the top 5. His stats from last season were far better than Saliba's and he's rightly labelled a top class defender and the heir apparent.

World Class = Can compete at the highest level at any league around the world. Jason is mistaking World Class with Legendary. Messi and Ronaldo are Legendary players. Two things for me - 1. O'Hara thinks he's too big for a late night slot and fancies 'something better' - but he's 2 bob and a mug and no comparison with Cundy, a much more professional presenter. 2. VD has never been a world class player & never will be. He's a poser in a very good side and gets caught out chasing shadows far too many times.
