this thumbnail was my magnum opus 😂 TLDR of the video is that i really liked shashingo and what its doing. The presentation is absolutely amazing and its just really enjoyable to spend time inside the game. The biggest issue with the game is the lack of content and i wish the words you learned were included in sentences somehow. There are only 145 different photographable words you can create but the back features 3 more related words (some are repeated i believe) on each card that brings the total to almost 400 possible words you can learn in this game. There are also some beginner lessons in the game in the form of a textbook. $20 is kinda expensive but thats also the same price as most fortnite skins so if you got the extra money then i think its not too bad for a chill beautiful looking experience that may help you acquire some new Japanese words, just know its not gonna be the most effective way to learn. Anki is free but it sure don't look this good lol i would always recommend keeping these kinds on the side of your actual learning. Not sure if they will ever expand the game but i think they really should because its just a really cool idea.
You should come join in VRChat sometime! There's a world called the EN-JP Language Exchange where you can listen to and practice your Japanese with people (or speak in English, if you feel the want/need).
@@KoutetsuSteel i def plan on it in the future. Your Japanese is amazing dude. I actually want to basically do what you are doing now in the future when my speaking abilities are better but sadly thats like my worst subject. Do you have any videos of you speaking about how you learned?
Oh gosh, I'll be picking this up soon. Thank you, Mike! Now I just hope that it was randomly developed in Unreal Eng-- _IT WAS!!_ This means it can probably work in the praydog UEVR wrapper!
I think you're right. I study kanji and vocab but only so that I can immerse better. Also, a good base of grammar and "conjugation" really helps. I think the main goal has to be immersion and every type of study should feed toward that.
@@JapanMike not saying it's bad if it helps to learn go for it language learning should always be about having fun not drilling grmmar for 24 hours straight
Oh man, I'm so glad I've found your channel. Learning Japanese is a long time dream of mine and after watching your videos I've got an insane amount of motivation. Thank you so much for that! I don't know if you read all the comments, but I'd like to share anyway. This method of language learning is the way I've learned English. Through games, music, youtube, all the stuff I enjoy. It felt so natural even though I'm a native speaker of Russian. Keep up with your passion, you genuinely seem like a really nice person that I would like to be friends with (I literally found your channel 3 days ago) ありがとうございまスマイクさん。頑張って ✨ Спасибо большое!
Of most items there are multiple ones lying around reducing the travel time required while searching around. For example, りんご is at the supermarket & also at the shrine...and probably even somewhere else I haven't found yet. Smartphones & coffees are basically thrown around everywhere if you look for them.👍 You can also press Esc and click on "Return to station". Again, shortening travel time significantly. Lastly, 2 question for anyone who also played this: 1. Can you photograph the rain for "あめ"? I was kind of annoyed while playing this because it feels like it's possible...but it just isn't.😅 2. You can't photograph the doors for "とびら" unless I missed something...which kind of annoys me a bit because there are so many doors everywhere. まど is also a word which is missing in my opinion...because there are windows basically everywhere. Other then that, this game is basically close to being perfect as it is imo. Funfact: If the word for "sun" or "moon" comes up, the time of day will almost immediately switch which makes these 2 words very easy to learn. "Oh, what does 月 mean again? Ahhh, I don't remember...Wait, why is it night already? The sun was up for like 30 seconds! Ohhhh......そうか....."😅
I like to add that you can spend your money into gatchapon. (or gatchagatcha if i understand well). The game is a little pricy for me but it could be a good idea if it goes into sold.
from someone who is learning Chinese, writing is helpful for locking the characters into memory, but not that useful in real life 😅 a lot of Chinese characters are more complex than Japanese characters, but for kanji, it might be helpful!
@30:05 -- There is one flaw with that idea though: If you took a photo of Today and made a flashcard of it, at review time it would have become Yesterday by then.
because im not interested in promoting them. The audiences and subject are completely different and im just trying to grow this channel organically. If you really wanna know my other channel is Bijuu Mike but its just lets play videos for the most part unrelated to Japanese
@JapanMike Sure, I just found it so funny how you said "cute", and then the next thing sounded like "kowai". (And I don't think the dog cares either way, it just hopes for treats)
This game has the potential to worth the money you need to pay for it, but the map is very small and you don't really learn how to form a sentence and grammar is very crucial when learning nihongo, I think it would've been better if there were NPCs you could interact with.

i love that you made this channel out of passion, im here for the ride
the graphics are soo beautiful! and the quiz feature is so nice because i'm terrible with kanji memorization T_T
I remember when you played this game on your other channel! That's one of my favorite videos of yours lol. Also, thumbnail is peak, i chuckled heheh
Your my favorite language learning channel right now love your videos a lot
I have this wishlisted on steam. Definitely look forward to playing it. Seems really fun and informational!
Honestly most effective way to learn any language is to just do:
immersion + dictionary & the rest is optional, it's what works for me
True. But dictionary lookup is a pain. I had to build jp-dit-e because of it.

true i just like to take a look at games like this

Спасибо большое!
I am in love with this channel. Thank you for making it and thank you for all the content you are making :D
THIS is what I expected Fluyo to be, an open world game where you can walk around around and practice language skills.
Another awesome long video!, i'm gonna say it again that really I love long videos lol
There is zero interaction, they could have include activities with npcs, buy things in a convenience store, ask for direction etc. ...
i found it enjoyable just for looking for words but i agree that some activities would def be a good addition
I really love this channel, I WILL BE BUYING THIS GAME, and.. ありがとう!
the idea of this game is making me want to do it irl, maybe it wouldnt be a very efficient way of learning but i think it'd be fun

34:06 Did you just call the dog scary 怖い(こわい)?
Cute is かわいい.
i def said kawaii but i don't claim to have the best pronunciation either but i know the difference lol
