I agree that they will do more by not joining the army than they would have done by joining the army but If they don 't join the army , they will be reminded of it all their lives , and this will be a reason for arguments all the time
They have achieved more than most who have been exempted .And I feel they are serving their Country as Special Envoys....If they win a Grammy it would be ridiculous if they were not exempted
@@sandys1890 I totally agree with you , but in Korea militarily service is very important and controversial thing . And for their future after their careers it will be a lot of complications and people will always talk about that , especially Korean people. It’s a lot of pressure to them not to join ,and for them as people not as a group, special envoys is easier to join the militarily. And feel less pressure
When it comes to the military service, I don't think any ARMY actually wants them to go, it is very clear that a lot of them are just really afraid for BTS' future and the hate they can get during the rest of their career because of an exemption. So yeah, I don't know what my opinion is on this, it's just too much for my brain to take lol so all I can do is wait for an update on this information.

Yeah lol... but the most funny thing is even if they get exemption from the president the first one to spread hate comments will be the international antis lol... Even if the Korean citizens will be happy to their exemption because as we know BTS are very well respected in South Korea, it will be international haters that will start to write hate comments first saying this and that... Funny how people who are not Korean are more concerned about their exemption rather than Korean nationals themselves😑😑😑

I used to listen to 2nd gen Kpop, but I got bored after awhile so I quit. BTS brought me back in 2019, and they are the main group I listen to for three years. Their contents and songs helped me go through tough times. I will support them until the end.
I don't know if anyone pointed it out, but this episode was filmed in their apartment. And some ARMYs noticed that the rice cooker they were using is the same one they were using in their first dorm.

I have learned so much about South Korea thru BTS. I became interested in the Culture, Food, Fashion, etc. I watched a documentary about America being allies during the Korean War, I am afraid I didn’t listen to well in History class. I love KDrama’s, I learn even more about Korea watching International Couples, the wife’s being American, as she is learning more about the Country she now lives in. I watch just about any Korean game shows, News that have English subtitles. If I was younger, I would definitely travel to Korea, such a beautiful country and absorb as much as I could. Thankfully, I have the Internet and can live vicariously thru others who can experience all the things I cannot. I have always lived rice and thru Google I fix it as follows: I rinse the rice numerous times, drain , add water to, put my finger in up to my first knuckle, cook in microwave seven minutes. When cooked , I stir with fork to release steam and to fluff up rice. So good. I agree with you wholeheartedly, BTS should not have to serve in the Military. They are serving Korea in all that they do now.

And i'm sure 90% of BTSArmy have the same opinion but they are afraid to talk and afraid that people start telling them that they are not male, not Korean so this mean that they can't speak up about it. And i think this is stupid. Not being male and not being Korean doesn't mean you can't have an opinion and say it. And in my opinion one of the reasons of why Korean government haven't decided yet about this matter it's because there are not enough people supporting this idea even in BTS's own fandom. If they would see how all the people all over the world actually don't want them to serve and give this reasons Jino just said, they would do something more quickly.
And all this conversation about "BTS said they will serve then let them serve" it's ridiculous to me. What you were expecting?? Them telling you they don't wanna go serve?? Them telling you that they were more then 2 years waiting for the concerts and now when they are finally having more and more opportunities to tour and see army that they are happy that instead of it they need to stay away from it for more almost 2 years??? They are Korean!! They would NEVER admit that in public because THIS would create a massive controversy!! They just can't say it out loud!! .. And THIS is why in my opinion some BTSarmy should stop being cowards and start to speak up abou this matter. Because boys will never say it.

And also..You haven't heard how is the military there? I mean, there and in most all the countries honestly.. Where people get bullied and treated like sh!t.. Well, BTS have money and are well known so maybe they will be treated well. But honestly you never know.. We don't know if there wouldn't be higher ups who are jealous of them being this massive superstars and treat them like sh!t like they do to many people.. I don't know about you but i don't want that to happen to the boys. Specially knowing how our boys are soft, calm and not really open with new people.
Anyway, that was just my opinion. You can agree or disagree but don't even start saying that i'm not allowed to talk on this matter and say my opinion. We live in democratical counties so even if you don't like it, i am allowed to say my constructive opinion about anything.

Go Jino, speak your mind! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I am American and starting to learn to speak Korean, all because of BTS. Even my kids will be taking Korean language as one of their elective classes at middle school because BTS has made it a popular subject amongst teens. I wholeheartedly agree with you that BTS has done so much in promoting South Korea and the Korean culture across the world.
i agree with what u said at the end i’m not korean so i try not to say much but itd be sooo stupid to not exempt them like just plain stupid. yeah anyway this was such a fun episode i love how the boys are always so good at making people feel welcomed and comfortable

I honestly agree, and as fans we would say anyway that we don't want them to do their military service because we love them so much and don't want them taken away, even if it would be selfish of us, but we have to see the bigger picture like Jino said they're no ordinary people and idols and so their contribution to the country and world is not ordinary so for them to not do their military service is something they truly deserve, but in the end we know we'll respect our boy's decision no matter what 💜

International ARMYs in the Noona groups I hang around on Twitter tiptoe around as much as younger ARMYs. We don't want to speak ignorantly or disrespectfully, certainly. But mainly, we have been *preemptively reemed* by Koreans and Korean Americans saying we have absolutely no right to an opinion. That's why we stick with the "we support whatever they want to do" and only sometimes, I dare to say "I hope they find a way to all enlist at the same time".
Now...
Since you've given me leave, I want to say President Moon would be a fool to endanger South Korea's biggest cultural export, national treasures, and living legends - and considering how he has used their services in the past, I don't think he's a fool. Someone *must* be coming up with a plan. If they aren't, here's one:
They need heavy public relations campaigns to instill pride in the resentful, tough men and older voters. Include: 1. Concrete numbers for GDP, tourism, jobs, and prestige awards. 2. Emotional info about I-ARMY's seeking out Korean culture, and all the people trying to learn Korean. Show them fricking xCeleste, DKDKTV, Doolset and everything we go through to understand layers of meaning in the lyrics.
Put BTS through a short basic training - like any other citizen - to have them at the ready in case of attack. Make it a special series like Bon Voyage or SOOP, and use it in schools to encourage more national pride and duty. There is no double standard because BTS are literally in service with everything they do.
Then they need to go on with their world tours, because they are the best cultural ambassadors since Christ, and their influence shouldn't be suppressed or underestimated.
Exactly what I was thinking ! I personally think the president wanted them to be exempt since several years already but just took things slowly in order to prepare the public

Relatively new to your channel Jino, and my first comment here...curious to know if you’ve served in the Korean military? The right answer comes only when you answer the question, what purpose does BTS military service fill? Is it to benefit Korean economy/culture? Is it to benefit BTS’s sense of Korean identity and belonging?...etc....They’re now on the world stage. While Korean blood flows in their veins, they belong to the world now, and a citizen of the world. I love their curiosity and effort to learn other languages,no other artist works so relentlessly in all areas of their life. I can only imagine the internal conflict they must have as they have so much potential to achieve more...World peace?? Not experiencing what all Korean males are required to complete, is likely to hinder their kinship with other Korean men with military service and likely feel less Korean?....Change is always difficult, but BTS has been paving the way on unchartered territory, if not now, when??

this run ep was so funny - bts are such teacher's pets lmaooo.... thank you jino for speaking up and your honesty. they definitely contribute so much to south korean culture, to the point where they basically represent korea if someone non-domestic was asked about sk they'd immediately say bts, (i know because i've asked others myself). if they were in the military, i don't think much would change as bts have had long hiatus periods before, but in terms of what they could be doing if they weren't it would be too much of a waste - and clearly this is evident as it has already been postponed. there are cons though, and for the sake of peacemaking they probably will in the future, but no matter what i think it restricts bts if they do.

If you can't take it from a straight up, honest, no filter, just my opinion person, this channel is not for you.
Every smart person that has Korea's best interest on their mind should realize that Korea will lose so much by sending them to the army. The risks far outweigh the gains. I think that by their tax money alone and the tax money HYBE generates by using BTS they could run a small country. Sadly, it is not up to us to decide. We will accept and support BTS forever, and them being gone for 18 months would change absolutely nothing. BTS army would remain loyal till we die

Of course no Armys don't want BTS to go to the military. All of us know that they have done and continue to do a lot for Korea. However, as foreigners it just sounds entitled to be spouting and ranting in public about how the Korean government should make an exception because we know what's best for the country. Armys are the reputation of BTS. Complaining about military service is a good way to lose face. Of course this is just my personal opinion, everyone is free to say whatever on the internet
