Students researching sustainable energy in Boden

This is so fun and inspiring - Boden has been chosen as the focus of a large project by 14 multinational master students in sustainable energy systems, and this week they all visited Boden for the first time. Each of them are experts in the field and are looking into how you can achieve optimal, green industrial symbiosis - in part by using AI to see if there are new kinds of businesses that are needed in Boden for the chain to work as good as possible.
Industrial symbiosis is achieved when different industries in a location form a network and can benefit from each other in the best way possible, for example when one company uses the waste heat or other waste products from another. One example in Boden could be data centers producing waste heat for a greenhouse, which in turn grows food that adds to the production of biogas.
The students are all in EIT InnoEnergys master school in different universities across Europe. The project is in collaboration with the global technological corporation ABB, who also suggested Boden for this project because of the large potential we have here.
