Master carpenter, master painter and a good portion restorer. I admire your versatility, but as a watchmaker your workshop gave me chills. You should get a beautiful studio.
Thanks for shring your skills with us! Your layering system, using pigments in suspension with your finish, was certainly effective. I can now better appreciate why your record player cabinets are worth so much.
I love how you work Russ, and all the clever tricks with the woodwork, but I'm so impressed with your finishing! I'm making a big dice from Elm and Mopane and will now have to up my game on the finishing, which was never my strong point. Love the videos.
Really nice to see someone on here that knows the proper way to hold and spray a paint cup! Great pattern, BTW. 👍🏼 From someone who sprayed automotive paint onto semi trailers (lorries) for decades as a trailer mechanic. 👋🏼🙂
I have often found a brush dipped in the lightest amount of mineral spirits , dried and they ran with the grain across the pigments to help create a more natural look in light woods and finishes. Have had to do this many times on refinish and repair veneered, fire rated doors.
Years ago,1990's, I restored a Triumph and found an old Polish guy in London to restore the dash and door cappings, one capping was past repair but the grain matched the other,I couldn't find a set or even a pair so I left them with him reluctantly accepting that he would veneer the damaged one but I d lose the continuity. when I picked them up he had painted the grain on the damaged re veneered one to match the original,it was a beautiful job, wish I still owned the car. but anyway It's great to see such skills still being practiced, especially by someone so relatively young.
I'm a year late, but well done! For everyone else, it takes an artist eye to do that kind of work, it's more of a talent you have than a skill you can practice up on. I tried it for years and never got very good at it, didn't have the knack.;)
Wow! I read about it in Michael Bennett's book but never imagined there would still be a true craftsman painting wood grain in 2021. Do you need special epoxy for oily hardwood?
the mixture is 50/50 part a and b, couldnt say how much pigment i use, not much though and depends on colour. slightly translucent as in the colour is not solid, can be seen through to the previous layer of colour
I wished I lived near you. I would beg to apprentice from you- for free. My granddad was a carpenter. He died before knew I had an interest in this art form. Your work is lovely.
That was amazing to watch at the end result is truly magnificent, I assume your day job is a French polisher because that's hardly the kind of skillset a DIYer just picks up 👍
@@NewYorkshireWorkshop that's really helpful they do a huge range👍🎯🤔 so errrrr what type you using l think we'll be using similar finish and you've got it down to an art 👍
By 'eck, I'd be that proud to 'wear' this high gloss grain to my funeral. Mind, I'd have to be laid to rest in a suitably grand vault to reflect the craftmanship, rather under the sod or in't flames.
As always, I sit here shaking my head in awe as I watch your videos.
I wouldn't have thought that a mere mortal could make something so shiny.
Outstanding, as always.
Are you secretly a dragon?
There really is no end to your talents is there?
Brilliant to watch this
These are years of skills and experience showing up. Nothing short of perfection.
You demonstrate the type of skills we mortals can only dream of. Having the right gear helps but nothing can be a substitute for skill . Well done .
Would love to see the completed piece that this goes with, not normally a fan of high gloss but with that combination of wood it’s looks stunning 👌🏼
This is a stand-alone vinyl record turntable case.
Beautiful job of blending. The finish looks like what you would find on a $50,000.00 Steinway.
search for shigeru kawai Pyramid Mahogany that looks nice
I wouldn't defile this with the name of Steinway. He actually put effort into this.
@@patrickmeyer2802 And you think the makers of Steinways don't?

Spent the first couple of minutes thinking this is going to look really average. Couldn’t have been more wrong. Stunning job mate 👌👌👌

Seriously, brilliant job. Each time I thought you were finished, another sanding and another layer of wax and such. Very nice work!

Wow! Thanks for sharing that. The wood grain blending and the choices of finishes.

Sir you are an artist beautiful craftmanship
Nice work! Mind sharing what setup you used on your gun to spray the polyester and clear coats?
Belíssimo trabalho, parabéns! A propósito, que tipo de madeira é essa?
Nice work....A badger hair brush would greatly assist with the softening and blending
You're woodworking is incredible such a fantastic job.
Wow! I read about it in Michael Bennett's book but never imagined there would still be a true craftsman painting wood grain in 2021. Do you need special epoxy for oily hardwood?
Speechless ! Great work and touch up. Loved it. Thank's
Lovely work buddy, love your video production style as well. All in all I really look forward to bringing out new vids. Please don't stop :)
What is the mixture of the isolator? And what do you mean by translucent layers? How do they differ from the first layers?
the mixture is 50/50 part a and b, couldnt say how much pigment i use, not much though and depends on colour. slightly translucent as in the colour is not solid, can be seen through to the previous layer of colour
super beautiful job ! congrats

Absolutely amazing!
Absolutely Beautiful! A true craftsman.
Stunning work.
Brilliant blending, but I respectfully ask if it wouldn’t be more cost-effective to source veneers that don’t have defects that need to be touched up?
Beautiful work
Great job mate.. is there no end to your talents 😉👍
Mouthwatering. Beautiful work.
Very informative, thank you. I now know your "day job" is reproducing Renaissance masterpieces in the ladies room. What a combination of talent! :D :D

The finish is amazing, but what is it?
Turntable plinth (garrard 301 or 401) I think.

Stunning
Stunning!!!!
With all those layers and blending it is like Photoshop but in real life.
Just that in real life it was the other way around, right?! First was layer painting then photoshop layers, historically.
Прелесть. Очень круто. А что за краски , которыми подкрашивал?
Beautiful.
NICE Job !
Should have used a bit of vinyl wrap, would of been loads quicker !!
Only joking, stunning finish mate. My guess is Turntable Base ??
