      Just looked at that in UK it costs £7000 sterling, similar mobility scooter, only one seat, top speed 29mph, no a/c, range of 20 miles is £6999.
      I'd definitely spend the extra £1 and have the space, range and comfort of tuktuk for going shops or visiting locally.
      Thumbs up

      It showed voltage. 79 to 75 volts isn't much drop in capacity.

    • @volvo09
      @volvo09 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lilsammywasapunkrock Yeah, it didn't lose that much. maybe 1/3 to 1/2? If it's got Li Ion batteries then around 60v would be drained to a safe level. If it has Li iron phosphate cells then it would be "dead" at a lower voltage such as 55v. So there was plenty of range left. The last test with the old batteries was pretty much the worst possible scenario for Lead acid batteries, the faster you pull power from them the less capacity they can give you. Modern Li ion and Life batteries don't care how fast you drain them, you still get the same energy out that you put in them.... plus they hold at a minimum 2x more power than lead acid.

    • @MichaelEricMenk
      @MichaelEricMenk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The discharge voltage curve on Li-ions are flat. You can not use a voltmeter..
      They should have installed a shunt, so you could count how many Ah you have used.

    • @lilsammywasapunkrock
      @lilsammywasapunkrock 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every battery management system I've ever seen for lithium battery uses voltage for a start and end scale.
      For instance, my model airplanes charge lipos up to 4.2v per cell. Storage voltage is 3.7v per cell and low voltage cutoff is 3.3v per cell.

    • @MichaelEricMenk
      @MichaelEricMenk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lilsammywasapunkrock yes, the top end the bottom of the voltage curve has a sharp change on lithium batteries, but not the middle.
      A BMS that keeps note of the SOC needs occasional to see these voltage changes to recalibrate the SOC (as it can drift over time).
      This is why in the user manual for my car instructs to drain the battery below 20% followed by a full charge every 3 months...

    The price is great, but the top speed is really the only issue I have with it. I currently have a 11 year old Camry with 100k miles as a second vehicle. I dont drive it often (less than 1k miles per year), and I've been looking to get rid if it and replace it with a cheap EV I can use around town and tow with my truck (my other vehicle is a 21 year old tacoma modified for overlanding), but 35mph is just too slow as most roads around here are 45-55mph.
    I also live in south Texas with 100+ summers, so battery cooling is also very important. I'm curious to see how the Echo 3 holds up in extremely hot climates.

    You go up steep grades to get to high altitudes. So EVs ARE affected by altitude! 😅😂😅

    Put better battery with much higher discharge and capacity and 20 kw motor controller and then this will fly :D Also 11 kw three phase charging would be good for long trips so you can charge when you go to eat at long trips.

    I would attach a diesel generator on the rear and have it running and charging the batteries as I use it. Would extend the range.

    Its a good idea and I like it as a toy but would you feel safe in it? My town is a beach town so it is filled with soccer mom SUVs and big trucks. For me driving that around every day would be a bit scare when you go from being one of the biggest vehicles on the road to the smallest.

      Good question! I was going to ask that myself. Regenerative braking is one of the big advantages of electric vehicles.

    I get we have a long way to go and 50 miles isn’t bad. But I’d rather not have to wait 4 hours to use something. I guess electric is better and cleaner if it will be used indoors. How does the price compare to a similar gas powered contraption?

    Try to keep these under $6,000 to make them logical but for the masses. Otherwise $9,000 is too expensive... even though most people driving electric cars are already wealthy and look at them as show off toys but not really for saving money purposes as advertised. lol
