Gearbox is underrated. With the humor, music and animation styles they incorporate in their product, it honestly makes me feel that the creators loves what their doing. And their passion obviously shows.

I mean, each character is so filled to the brim with personality, story and lore, especially if you take time to unlock the lore thingies, where you can really learn about them. I mean, sure, the story isn't Mass Effect complex and the campaign isn't as long as Borderlands, but to me, it's great fun to play and the characters (especially Shayne and Aurox) are just a joy to control, play as and listen to.

But battleborn to me just has more character. I saw a developer or publisher for overwatch said the beta had "everything" the full game would on release.
The animated shorts though, i hope blizzard makes more and has them unlockable for each character.. Because they were very well done pixar quality.

If you were speaking about marketing campaign then yeah, sure ! And I agree with you on the rest, but I love Battleborn and I don't understand why there is so much hate towards it (mostly coming from Blizzard fans and people who don't understand that Gearbox isn't doing Borderlands 3 instead of Battleborn...) ! The game is really good and I can see myself playing it for a long time !

+SteveVerstaka Yeah, lots of Samurai Champloo vibes. Hip-hop themed, lots of nice hand-drawn action, and you can get a sense of the character's personality based on their fighting styles. The beat feels like something straight out of Samurai Champloo as well. It's why I love this intro so much.

Interesting video and game concept. But it's kind of strange how the narrator talks as if darkness is scary, evil, or unnatural and how light is good. But there's no need to be afraid of the dark, and it is not a negative or unnatural thing. I never could understand it why some people do that. =/
This is just a philosophical thought, but if darkness has been around ever since the beginning of everything before anything else, is all around us, and there is even inside of us (I imagine it gets pretty dark inside of our bodies. I don't think we have light bulbs inside of us), isn't darkness one of the most natural and non-evil things out there? =o
And night time is actually one of the most peaceful times for most people. It's when we rewind, recharge, and heal. Light is not good like darkness is not evil. They are just things that are. We need both. It's kind of like that yen and yang thing. =D
The narration speaks of a time when there is only 1 source of light, and everything else is darkness. Now, besides a few people, I don't think anyone is actually afraid of the dark, there are just too many things that lurk in darkness to name them all. That's why people say they're afraid of the dark.
Light carries the connotation of being "warm" and "friendly" where as dark is quite often the side affect of that. That and it goes hand in hand with dark containing the unknown simply cause it can conceal whatever is inside it. (which has made it become a trope in horror movies and the kind.) Think of it this way, if you go into the darkness then you're losing one of your senses, your sight... and sight is probably the most used sense (maybe feeling comes close? but oh well) so you're immediately put into a state of vulnerability since you're losing a method of determining you surroundings or what might be lurking in them.
As for your philosophical thought, it's a fairly sound one if i was to be blunt. There isn't anything fundamentally wrong with it nor is it something that needs to be proven wrong. But to end this random jumble of text let me propose a counter thought... Why do YOU think that dark has become associated with things that are "evil" or malicious. Why has darkness become associated with horrors lurking beneath it's thin veil? Food for thought if you want to ponder on it. I personally think it's because humans are afraid of what they don't know about, hence fearing the dark which they cannot see through.

OMG you all are way over thinking this. All the energy in the universe comes from stars. In the distant future, all the stars will die (Look up the Heat Death of the Universe) and the civilizations in this game are gathering around the last star. They need energy to stay warm, to power ships, to cook food, to build things, to survive. There's no "Dark is evil, light is good", it's just a bunch of tribes gathering around the last watering hole.
Nissim1795 You're missing the point though. It wasn't about the game's story but more a thought provoking discussion. Sometimes it's good to have these kinds of talks with people online cause you get to see things from a different perspective :)

The game may have flopped but I know this series is made into something else in the future and not forgotten because I love the premise of this series just wish gearbox could have put just a little more polish and not tried to put it’s self up against overwatch
That's not entirely Gearbox's fault, though. They set their release date first and Blizzard specifically set Overwatch's to try and crowd them out. That said, I can understand why they wouldn't, but Gearbox should have manufactured a reason to push the release back a couple of months and used the time for some tweaks.

Damn kind of a shame how everyone only equates Del to the Gorillaz, but he only did one track with them. Dude has been one of my favorite artists for a couple decades now. I love battleborn though, it is pretty addicting IMO.

Remember that the Gorillaz have had WAY more commercial success than anything he's ever done with Hieroglyphics, Deltron, Handsome Boy Modeling School, DOOM, or by himself solo. People who like deeper cuts in the genre don't equate him to Gorillaz, but "everyone" isn't into the genre enough for the deeper tracks. It might be a shame, but pop is popular. Just be glad the guy has had enough success to have the ability to have a careers worth of music for you to enjoy. :D

This intro is sick. It reminds me of the first time I watched the intro for Borderlands 2. Although the art's different, you still get this awesome feeling watching a group of badasses bringing their best to the battle.
I would watch a whole film of this especially if it kept up the soundtrack.

RacoonJones I'm mostly refering to how it looks like it used less than 10 frames per second of animations, not fluid at all, it's very noticeable. The standard that most follow is at least 20 frames per second. The golden standard large studios follow is more around 60.

The animation with the girl from 3:20-3:42 is so captivating and mesmerizing. Not only awesome but gives so much character. I mean, so is everything else in here too. But that part really stuck out too me.

To those saying this animation is bad: when you do this you are doing this comparitively, you are comparing it to something you think is better. But not every animation can be the same, this animation has a style of its own and to fully appreciate it just give it a try without thinking of animations that you think are better.

The story behind the game absolutely intrigues me. The character are enticing and the world just makes me want to know more about it. I love the cartoon's animation and the fluency of their body movements.
The only complaint I have for this video is the background music for the cartoon. Reasons, the mood of the rap doesn't fit the battle. It's too CALM for a battle so epic with extraordinary characters. Yet, the words totally match the struggle and conflicts the heros go through.
This is simply my opinion.

I think deltron is a rapper for Gorillaz in multiple songs, at least one for sure. If I remember right he's the big blue guy in Clint Eastwood. He just does by a different name like all the gorrilaz animated characters. Del the something
Love the animation, think the song is pretty cool, but I dont really feel like they fit together very well. Moments during the animation when you'd expect the music to really start picking up, its nothing but a mellow beat.

Jayman493 The short answer is that AS took(or rather kept) the rights to the show from the creator Aaron Magruder(or however you spell his name) and prevented him from doing more with it. It got to the point that he went to Kickstarter for help financing a Boondocks spin-off movie starring Uncle Rukus. By the end they had the hit or miss mess of the last season despite fan outcry for a new season after so long, and because of it's performance they decided to stop the show there. There's more to it, look it up, AS can be assholes to projects it deems unsuccessful and then refuse to allow the creators to do anything with it.
