    I have no need for a minivan, but I wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen in it. It's the best looking m/v I've seen.

    There’s another thing I noticed that nobody talks about is the second row in the hybrid has much better seats than even the pinnacle second row gas powered because they don’t have to be flatten out and stuck under the floor. But the hybrid does not have heated second row seats

    I think you're the only guy on TH-cam that understands how to review a minivan, lol.
    All the other guys spend 2 minutes on the interior features and then the rest of the video talking about the drivetrain. Nobody buys a minivan for how it drives 😂
    You get that this can is all about the comfort and features. Its the family bus!
    Thanks for your video 😊

    The Pacifica Hybrid is a fantastic vehicle for our needs, I'm an artist so when I'm transporting my paintings it is ideal. Turn around and then haul my 4 grandchildren. Great ride, quiet, and great on gas mileage. From March 13 to August 18, 2020, I filled up once averaging 56.7 mpg. Includes trips of over 80 miles round trip several times. I Love this vehicle.

    Awesome review, been saying for years, minivans are the most usable vehicle made, throw on a set of snow tires and you’ll go about as good as awd SUV, had Caravans for years, this year company switched to a Voyager and I’m amazed how good this new van is and regularly get 27+ mpg.

    I liked the second gen Chrysler Voyager with the 3L we had back in the 90s. We had so many road trips in that car...remove the middle bench for a long trip, put all the luggage there and you have endless foot space. Want to haul people? Put back all the seats.

    Thank you for promoting this vehicle.
    MPGe is not Gas & Electric combined, it is a metric used to express the efficiency of the electric powertrain, in relation to energy contained in gasoline (1 gallon of gasoline = 33.7 kilowatt hours).

    • @thelondonbroiler
      @thelondonbroiler 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@G41251 There are to many unspecified variables to give you an accurate answer (ie Do you start with a full charge? Is your city driving first or last? Etc). By pretty much all accounts, Chrysler's figures are accurate for this vehicle. Expect ~31 miles of mixed electric driving and ~30mpg in gasoline hybrid mode.

    Another outstanding review, Chris. Much information presented in both a detailed and a concise fashion. Add the professional level editing and all in all, it's quite a trick.
    As far as the Pacifica is concerned, hasn't anyone informed FCA that the minivan is dead? Killed off mainly by women who prefer the "command" elevated driving position of SUV's and who want to avoid the "soccer mom" stigma. Not widely known, in fact, is that men are more likely to prefer minivans for their functionality than women. No matter. Chrysler plugs along with the Pacifica and even invests in improving the vehicle. And amazingly, it seems to be working. Pacifica sales in the first quarter of 2020 were over 24,000 in the US, slightly over the 2019 first quarter and only slightly fewer than the 4th quarter of of 2019. Considering the cratering of the automotive market in the US in the 2020 first quarter, that's impressive.
    I was about to complain that with all of the additional features and goodies on the Pacifica including its hybrid model that it's a mystery that it's available only in FWD. I checked and it turns out that the 2020 "Launch Edition" will be offering AWD in the non-hybrid version of the vehicle. That's a year earlier than originally planned. When and if AWD will be offered in the 2021 Hybrid is up in the air as far as I know. In any event, the hybrid has a lot of appeal to the market segment interested in the functionality of a minivan.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as we're aware, the hybrid batteries take up too much space for an AWD system, Stephen Hendricks, but you're correct, the Launch Edition does offer AWD. All in all, it's a nicely done package and with more manufacturers abandoning the minivan, we guess Chrysler would rather have a decent share of a small percent of vehicles sold than no share at all. As you mentioned, it seems to be working. Thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching, too!

    We've got a 2018 Pacifica Hybrid Limited...and this weekend we are trading it in on a 2020 Pacifica Hybrid Limited (although this time we get a black 's' package as well, best looking minivan). The deals on 2020's combined with the federal tax credit is insane right now. We will walk away with a brand new 2020 pacifica hybrid and will have only added on 3 months of payments compared to our previous loan (literally will pay it off 3 months later than our 2018 would have been paid off)...and the monthly payments actually drop a little bit.
    Absolutely love the pacifica hybrid. We live in western washington, lots of hills and poor weather and average 50 to 70+ mpg. The best so far is 2,550 miles on a single tank of gas with still 1/4 tank left. There is no other minivan out there like this. Runs super quiet, TONS of features, and TONS of space for our family of 5. It's also faster than our previous SUV (nissan pathfinder) and drives/handles better!

    There are absolutely no changes from the 2018 I own to this one. You will never get close to the 85 MPGe as this is a made up number. Even the 76.5 listed in the video is ludicrous. On a full tank and charge, you will get 500 miles. I charge my van every night and I go about 1,000 miles between gas station stops but the charging is NOT free! In Colorado, it costs me about $1.33 per charge and that adds 33 miles to my drive - about $40 a month. If you go on a long trip, the MPG plummets to about 20 - this is because you don't brake or plug it in as much. The drive is the best I have ever experienced - completely different from the horrible drive in the gas models. i know so much about this vehicle, if you have questions, please post them here.

    • @billybaldwin8918
      @billybaldwin8918 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@G41251 I considered all 3 when I bought the Pacifica. I got the highest end one with a MSRP of $52,000 but by haggling and getting the tax rebates, the out the door price was $32,000. The way I charge, I get about 40 MPG. The vehicle should get about 550 miles per tank or 34 MPG if you charge it only once per gas tank fill up. Drive is really what makes the CPH worth it. With that 800lb battery in the middle of the vehicle, it is really smooth on the road. With the EV transmission, it is not constantly shifting like the Toyota or Honda do. Your passengers will appreciate the smooth drive. The monthly cost for electricity will be higher depending upon where you live.

    It is very misleading to say 76 MPG! in title, because that applies only during the first 30-32 miles of driving on battery power, soon after that when it switches to V6 engine alone the milage falls back to 30 MPG.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But when many people commute LESS than 30 miles/day, that number holds true, Avik Paul. So, if those owners come home and plug the car in, as we did during our testing, you should be able to see similar results. And we typically drive more than 30 miles/day. Based on how you're looking at it, no mileage reports will be correct because everyone's driving habits are different and we all drive different distances.

      It runs like a traditional hybrid when the EV range (and battery) is depleted. But it will regen some of that EV range while driving (through running the ICE engine and also from regen braking). If the van has any EV battery left at all it will always try to use that first before the ICE (with a couple of exceptions, like flooring the pedal or in some instances with very cold weather and running the heater).
      At worst you'll get about 30mpg (driving pure hybrid), at best your MPG is depending on how far you drive between charges. Best we got was 2,550 miles on a single tank of gas...and still had 1/4 tank left. I've hit mid/upper 70's MPG in the summer, typically see 50 to 70mpg during the non-summer months. We always expect to travel at minimum 900+ miles on a tank (I aim for 1,200 at least though). Winter/cold weather reduces EV range and causes the van to turn on ICE more often, so MPG will drop a bit.
      Side note, the EV battery is technically never at zero even if it says 0% on the dashboard. The van caps the top 10 to 15% and the bottom 10 to 15% of the battery. It uses the EV battery to 'start' the ICE engine and to recharge the regular 12v (typical car battery).

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used the car's trip calculator. Reset it, drive for a few days, then see what it says. Remember that hybrids can be driven without the internal combustion engine running, so long as you don't request too much power and the battery has enough energy in it. Hope this helps, Ramya Rams, and thanks for watching!

      @@masterdingus7074 From what I understand, it is calculated with a full electric charge. So you can go 35 miles on full electric, then about 35 miles on gas, which is about 70 miles. But after that, it is 35 miles mpg (probably less). You make a good point, that the 76.5 mpg is misleading information.

      You are correct, Mark feldman. The 2nd row is not stow and go. You can fold them down or remove them. They aren't the lightest seats, so removal is a bit awkward. Not to mention, you'll need somewhere to store them, but it is possible. Also, no, the hybrid is only available with front-wheel drive. Apparently, the batteries take up too much space. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

      AutoAcademics ...the new Sienna is coming out now... along with a new Venza with hybrid AWD minivan. Toyota has a proven successful history with hybrids and now with AWD it is a much safer choice. Doesn’t have plug in option and 30-40 mikes if all electric but I would take the Toyota any day over the Chrysler

    How the heck do they figure that fuel economy?

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's electric and gas combined. There are many miles that this Pacifica (and other plug-in hybrids) can drive strictly on electricity, without the engine turning on. That gas-free mileage is averaged with the mike's that the engine is running. It makes more sense when you realize you've driven for two weeks (short commute trips) and haven't had to put any gas in your car. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

      @@AutoAcademics I’m not questioning the car I have one and it’s wonderful and I live in California so I don’t have any of those cold weather issues with it starting ice every time you drive it, other cars consider the electricity free Pacifica is the only one they put a value on the electricity to lower your miles per gallon which is more realistic but if I go to thousand miles and never put in fuel it should be Well over 100 miles per gallon
