What an incredible place. I think that there could be Knights Templar connections. It reminds me a little of the Sintra initiation staircase. And the head reminds me of Baphomet.
@ruthpearsall2618 It was the Sinatra initiation staircase that it reminded me of too, but I couldn’t remember the name! I think there are other similar structures too associated with the Freemasons and Templars. This seems to be about the right diameter but doesn’t have a spiral staircase. There are stairs that you descend to get to the bottom, but they don’t really ‘spiral’ around it. It is also not as deep as the others. We saw no Masonic or Templar symbols during our visit.
