I was in a very old church yesterday, no roof . Its kinda crazy to think one day it looked this beautiful. I love the history of the holes how people would see the mass . The detail of the carvings are incredible .
Lovely little church. Wonderful carving. The whole place is a patchwork of history. God bless Private Marshall. My 5th great grandmother was Mary Hooker.
Thank you Michael 🙂much aprreciated. These churches were lovley, as you say a patchwork of history. I often find these war graves quite sad, some are quite young 😞
Thanks Kevin, everytime I think you’ve surpassed yourself and found the most beautiful or interesting Church in West Sussex up pops another one! That was so interesting, especially the story about the holes in the rood screen.
Oh Kevin what an amazing history and also to the point, what an amazing church. It's story was well told, thanks for that. I was also intrigued all the way through. Loved the 'look' of the church - and aren't cemeteries awesome sources of information? You did a superb job on this video- well worth watching. Thanks again Kevin. 👍🇳🇱🙋♀🥝(like 20)
@IamaDutch-Kiwi Thank you, Anita 😊. Your comment is very much appreciated. Churches are so fascinating with so much history entwined within its walls. We try hard to make our visits as interesting as possible. In the most part, I think we managed that. Please feel free to share my videos.
Hey Kevin. Nice connection for your family history. Very nice churchyard and inside is lovely. Very useful indeed having a guide with the ages on it. Helps paint the picture of the history of the place. Good share mate. Hope all is well. Give our regards to Cynthia Steve and all the others. Catch you soon. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Thank you Paul 🙂your comment is much appreciated. Sadly we didnt find any graves with family names. These churches were just brilliant. Take care from us all, Regards to Kim.
@johnf4883 Thank you, John 😊. There were a few challenges at the church. I love to see a well-kept cemetery, and as I think I mentioned in the video, I found it very sad that the war grace was in a particularly unkempt area.
@@KevinsRambles The war graves at Cemetery's are better looked after than the ones in churchyards, in East Sussex anyway, a lot of churchyards only have a few war graves, sometimes only one, and a lot of soldiers don't have official war graves.
Interesting video - I have passed through Bury on walks several times but not sure I have ever been in the church. So cool you found the ferryman's grave. The holes and marks were Interesting too - but should they have been playing games in church?!
@jeanblemings5352 Thank you, Jean 😊. It was great when Cynthia found the ferrymans grave, The marks on the pillars, I guess it might have been one way of keeping the children occupied during a service 🤷♂️.

I really appreciate your comment.
I feel the same as you about the churches.
Nothing would surprise me with what we might find.

Interesting how medieval graffiti takes on a period charm. There is beauty in all such details. Nive one Kevin and Cynthia.
Thank you Andrew 🙂Much aprreciated, we have seen medieval graffiiti before.
