That 90 degree turn on those head bolts seems like it is too much.ive done two of the 2.9 engine rebuilds and the worst part is that last turn on the heads it seems like you are gonna break something.
Highly recommend King cylinder heads. Also used them for my Bronco II since it had coolant in the oil, no issues since and I've had them on for the past 2 years. Guy on the phone was nice and got me the heads pretty quick.
It was actually from an old Haynes manual that came with the truck, I’m sure there’s some forums online that has everything listed as well. I would recommend picking up a manual for these things they come in pretty handy especially for the wiring.
same heads i just dropped on my 1988 2.9l! still running great at 4000 miles

Dart makes aftermarket replacements for the 2.9l which are heavier duty in the known areas prone to cracking on the original heads.
