What could be the problem when the pointer is stuck at the 1 reading with the tester in the off position?
    Thank you

I would not think that those rings are magnets, most likely are ferrite rings or some kind of ferrite beads to help it from having any oscillation or EMI on the wires from stray RF, getting into the leads.

Thanks for the video. One thing to note that I don't think you mention. I thing you've switched the rotating switch from the super cricket settin (farthest counter clockwise setting) that you originally have it on to determine what the transistor is, to the low setting (one notch clockwise from the super cricket setting) when you do the gain test, to determine the basing. Correct?? I was wondering if you had to do any repair to your unit? Mine does the cricket test ok. I tested a couple 123ap npn transistors and a couple mfj 102 fet's and they test good. However with the npn transistors when I try to do the gain test, I switch the switch to low, depress the proper 1a,2a,or 3a and I get a "chirp" (tone) coming from the speaker. However when I press the gain button the tone stops (as it does in your video) but my needle doesn't move and then pressing the b button the same thing, I hear the tone I press gain and the tone stops but the needle doesn't move. I was just curious if you might happen to know what's going on with it?? Thanks again for the video.

I think I fixed mine. It has some multi terminal plugs that slip onto terminals soldered to the pc board and I saw some broken solder joints around a few of those terminals so I re-soldered all of them and it now seems to be working.

What is the gate 2 blue wire for? Anyone know?
      Thank you

@@SDsailor7FETS. Instead of Base, Emitter, Collector. A FET has Gate Drain Source.

How much did you sell it for?

On mine the leads dont match up to the pinout, so that means i got a problem with the supercricket.😢

I also picked one TF30 here in Italy, and I used a small guide (available here antiqueradios.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2679731#p2679731 ). Could you send me a copy of the manual, +Dim drac, + Danny Burlington ? Thanks!
