I think this might be my favorite of the books you cook from, just because you always list the author's other works and they're all amazingly ludicrous.
I still believe he is making these books up. There is no way there are 1001 sandwich recipes from 1936. Also that lady on the cookbook looks like my grandmother. Lol.
@@SandwichesofHistory We should all do a sandwich make-along where you choose one from the book and we all make it on the same day (or during a livestream or something from you)!
It reminds me of a "Poor Man's Monte Cristo" Like the ones they used to serve at Charlie Brown's. There used to be one up by CSM, and another I think out by Redwood City Marina--where Clark's went in.
Yep! It's still has the heat and gets a tang from apple cider vinegar too. My go to recipe is: www.foodiewithfamily.com/candied-jalapenos/#wprm-recipe-container-21170
This seems like the scariest timeline for Monte Cristos
It's the "darkest timeline" and Monte Cristo sandwiches are going to start wearing construction paper goatees.

My man, behold. 288 pages containing 1001 sandwich recipes: archive.org/details/1001sandwiches00cowl/page/20/mode/2up

@@SandwichesofHistory This is so amazing. It's like looking through a time machine. Down the rabbit hole I go!
every step of the way I was saying "no...no...no....NO...NOOOOOO"
This is one of those sandwiches I could see myself inventing after raiding the pantry in a drunken stupor.

I would make pb&j then French Toast ‘em. Called the Monte Christy’s. Try it - great for kids
Oh yeah...lose the gape jelly. Try raspberry jam! Delightful
I would probably plus this up with dill pickle & cheddar cheese. That’s usually what I have on my hotdog, so that’s where my brain heads.
I’d add cheese to the egg mix and chilli sauce in the sandwich and or the egg mix too
No way am I making hot dog french toast, but sesame seeds on regular french toast seems like that'd be great.
Another great job! Well organized and consistently delivered every time. If only there was a blooper or two at the end...
Thanks! And when I make 'em, you see 'em!
Excellent plus up choices
thanks baz
I actually would like that sandwich wit mustard. NICE!
How could we forget her? Cool forever.
Yeeeessss
i was expecting a maple syrup or powdered sugar plus up
Savory French toast? I'm in! And *three* plus-ups? What did we do to deserve this treat?
I've only ever had savory french toast with bacon, sausages etc. Always is weird to me when i see people eating it with syrup and stuff
Sauerkraut...
Not what I was expecting 😂
Needed cheese I think
what is cowboy candy?
Sweet, tangy, spicy candied jalapeños. www.foodiewithfamily.com/candied-jalapenos/#wprm-recipe-container-21170
Hellooooooo :D sorry for being a day late :C
Hellooooooo :D and no worries 🙌
Hmm nope
Came for the sandwiches.
Left to Google 'cowboy candy'.
Returned to confirm, 'is it candied jalapenos?'

I think it would have tasted better with a simple grilled cheese treatment or just toasted and then served with the plus-ups (not the grape jelly)
