- Complete coverage of the Women's Steinstossen Stone Throw, Event 4 from the inaugural Arnold Strongwoman Classic in Columbus, Ohio (March 4, 2023). All weekend, the women are taking on the same challenges as the male competitors. With this event, each athlete has 3 attempts to throw this traditional Swiss lifting stone for distance.
After a rough day on Friday, Victoria Long continues her dominant turn-around in Day Two, as worthy efforts by Olga Liashchuk and Rebecca Roberts fall well short of Long's remarkable top throw.

People need to remember that it's not looks that wins strongmen/women's events. Goes for WL and PL as well. Yes there are some lookers, but at the end of the day, it's the man or woman that lifts the most weight. It doesn't really matter how you look. If you want looks, got to bodybuilding or Crossfit. If you think this was boring, watch golf. BTW. I liked the contest.
They don’t measure from the center but from where the stone lands; obviously this is going to change the distance when measuring from the side vs the center
4 Reasons why i don´t want to see that contest again:
1.) it´s not possible to not look wierd trying to run with that stone
2.) techinque is more important than strenght - imho
3.) it´s just unfair bequase taller athletes have a huge advantage
4.) i see some really bad injuries coming...
Queen Victoria is legit strong ... she's a real beast ... n is built like an Amazon Goddess...

If any of them live in a glass house, they will not be allowed to compete in this event.
Probably could be done like the kettle bell toss standing facing away and swinging the thing overhead. The arms are a sling and the back and hips are the fulcrum. Would look silly, but so did the first person to break the vertical jump record. They used to do that feet first.
I tried it that way with my pet rock that's close to the same shape and 65kg. It didn't work any better for me than throwing from the chest. But I think it would work for someone stronger than me.
I'm Swiss and think this is awesome, its pretty simple just run and overhead throw. Shame about the pronunciation from the commentators XD

Its a new event, at least they are trying to change the game.
So a lot of new technique needs to be evolved, perfected and trained.
This is basically like weight-over-bar - but without 25 yrs of history yet.
I agree that most of them didn't try to use a proper technique here - Pressers that are half-arsed agile should excel here.
