The way you can always tell if someone is trying to be sneaky like OP's father and step-monster in the first story is to let others know your side of the story. If they start screaming and calling you names because you dared to set the records straight... well you have your answer. They were gaslighting you and lying. This lets you know where you stand in their lives - nowhere. I hope OP recognizes this and adjusts accordingly. I truly am sorry they had to find out this way.
