@@chickenblaster the ones that knew of sean knew how good he was. Which is mostly old school death metal fans and musicians from the Florida death metal scene. He should be right up there with the all time greats. Man i really cant appreciate the new deathcore scene or anything watered down or copies. Absolutely amazing! Sean your drumming is so artful and versatile.
Been a devoted fan since I heard you first on Death's Human (truly groundbreaking), then came Cynic's Focus (my jaw dropped in awe when I first listened to it through headphones late at night and remained that way ever since), Aghora's self-titled, Gordian Knot, Cynic re-union albums, finally old Cynic demos which got widely available to listen to. Such a shame Cynic is no more.
I truly hope you will sooner than later make a great music in a band or solo project and that the world will again witness your talent, skills and most importantly a vast musical depth that you've got inside you.

Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s here’s my top 6 most influential metal drummers (no particular order) for that period. To clarify, this means “during” that period, and does not include other drummers who made music in the 80’s and 90’s that I discovered later on.
    1) Sean Reinert (Death/Cynic)
    2) Tim “Herb” Alexander (Primus)
    3) Gar Samuelson (Megadeth)

The first time I heard this was on the “At Deaths Door II” album and there was no synthesized voice on that version (wish they hadn’t even used it for the album!). Anyway, I was blown away by how innovative it sounded at the time. As a drummer I was amazed at how much nuance Sean played with, just as I was with his playing drums on Death’s Human album but this was even less straight forward and more creative. Some of the patterns he’d come up with had so much groove and tasteful too.

(edit: just FYI my credentials. I have been listening to Cynic since 1993. As a 14 year old, it wasn't a "jury's out" decision on whether this music was cool. You had to be committed back then. I waited 15 years for their second album. Over the years I have turned multiple people onto this band who had NEVER heard of them. It wasn't always cool to like them, you know).
