Nah, we had plenty of search engines in 1996. Altavista, Webcrawler, Yahoo, Lycos, to name a few. But depending on what you were looking for, index pages gave you better results than search engines.
No, you don't, lol. Everyone says they wish they could go back to the good old days, whatever that is to you, 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s 2000s whatever. You really don't. Just like in 50 years, we all will be saying I wish we could go back to the 20s, not the 1920s, the 2020s, lol. You think the best era has passed because you hold on to those nostalgic memories, which is perfectly normal. But we are and always have been living in the best period right here in the present. Just 100 years ago, you could be taken out by a common mild illness. If covid hit the early 1900s, the human race would prob be nearly wiped out, lol. Cars were once incredibly unrealiable and comically dangerous, like literal death traps. The power would constantly go out for days weeks more. Getting in touch with someone was, well, depending on the era, it was not so easy, lol. Getting an important message to someone was probably not going to make it in time, lol. Ok, I'm going a little far back in time, but the 90s was not without its faults. In many ways, the 90s sucked big time. Internet was almost unusable most of the time. I bet if u did go back to the 90s, after waiting 3 5 7 minutes waiting for the computer to turn on only for the internet to be down or utterly unusable due to painfully slow loading you'll be bagging to come back to the present. Having like 5 channels on TV sounds adorable, but I garenttee that after a week without your Netflix and Prime and youtube, you'll be begging to come back to the present. Oh yeah, and there's also that, no youtube, lol. How could u ever go back to a world without the tube and not to mention all other kinds of tube's wink wink. Computer viruses were also easier to catch than a beach ball and scarier than whatever horror movie came out that year. I could go on and on about how the present is always the best time to be alive. Remember having to keep hundreds of cds tthet and have like 20 songs on them each. Or cassettes, lol. Sounds adorable and u probably miss those too, but I garentte a week of it and you'll be crying and wishhing u could just have it all in organized Playlists or if ur like me just one huge Playlist and shuffle button rules all other buttons. Shoes were uncomfortable. The sweaters were itchy, and glasses were so ugly they turned the prettiest of faces into a huge dork. Lol. The hair styles were awful, everywhere smelled like cigarettes. The cars were slow and Jenky. The medical and hospital system couldn't even touch what it is today. I mean, we're literally on the brink of curing many diseases that used to be certain death sentences. And people with certain ilnesses are able to live longer and have an almost normal and good quality of life. It's easy to look back and say we were better off back then but the same could be said about today in 50 years lol. But it's just not true. We're smarter, healthier, safer, and more informed about the world than ever before. Yes, there's a lot about the present that is far from perfect, but there were always issues from mild to wild to down right scary in any time period. From politics to environmental. The problems will always be present. But the tube, man. That's priceless. Here, we can look back at the past while in the comfort of our present. And in soon time we will be in the futer, and quite possibly actually totally royally fųč̣ƙęđ 😂.cheers.
