That's what I did years ago and I haven't looked back. After all the crap SeaDoo produced, then that stupid Yamaha PowerValve engine I was done. I've certainly had some issues with my various Kawasaki's, but most were minor. Plus the hulls are rock solid.

@@LeviBMW The new 2022+ Ultra models have an electronic system that’s thumb operated and automatic. Works excellent.
My 30 year old purple hull waveraider still looks brand new, even after 3 decades exclusively in salt water 😂
I have an ‘09 FZR and I haven’t seen any paint issues and I have several deep scratches and even a couple decent gouges. All due to rough usage, but the paint has held up otherwise. Must be different on the older 1st gen. nano excell hulls before nano excell 2 hit the market…
I am going through the same issues . I purchased my 2021 fx limited and already have had three cracks in the hull , two of which were fixed through insurance for obvious reasons . The third I tried to repair through warranty and they don’t want to acknowledge or make right anything . What can I do ?
I have a 2020 fx/ho and have been using synthetic urethane on many projects for a while
this stuff is tough as nails and very flexible. like powder coating your hull.
That’s one of the reasons I went Seadoo after being Yamaha since 2011
This only applied to the 19-21 models and for the most parr has been resolved since. I had a 21 fx that delaminated coming on and off the dock. Then got a 22 and not an ounce of the same damage. For those fighting Yamaha and the insurance, you just need to find a shop who will write up a good repair estimate and let them total it, this will continue to happen to your ski. Mine was fixed 3x before being totaled, and each time it happened faster than the previous. There’s no saving those 19-21 hulls
I just bought a 2024 Yamaha FX HO and I love everything about it but concerned after one use. When I got home I looked underneath the ski and in some places a 4 x 1/4 inch long area is missing paint like it was scratched off or rubbed off on the bunks. I dont believe my ski has the nano whatever you call it hull but it appears the paint is “eggshell thin”. Paint rubbed off right down to the black portion of the hull.
Only solution I’ve found is applying super slick 2000 epoxy coating to the bottom of the ski.
That’s my plan for my nano fx this winter.. it really sucks we have to deal with this with these skis .
My old GPR’s are still rock solid after 24 years ,! Give me SMC any day .
I sold my 2019 FX to purposely buy a 2022 FX with the SMC hull...The better question we should be asking is why are the 2019-2021 model years the main ones with this issue when Nano2 hulls have been used on FX's since 2015...what makes the 2015-2018 hulls so different?

Does SMC hulls have any safety issues if the paint comes off like the nano hulls having chunks of hull coming out? My SMC 2024 hulls has paint peeling off and wasn’t sure if that’s going to cause issues down the road?

You cant blame anyone but Yamaha they knew the problem and should have addressed it but must have estimated the failures would cost less than the fix.
I'm in the same position on my 21 fxsvho. My hull started to crack on the keel too. A lot of heavy ocean riding. No wave jumping, just Catalina Island runs. No paint damage. Yamaha declined and insurance said it is a know manufacturer defect. I got a useless 21 and have been looking for a 22+ donor hull closer to the Westcoast.
Mine cracked all the way I got in repaired and gator glide for 2500
@@MarkMiller-fj5hv mine cracked 3 times already. I was told the only way to repair it would be to remove the engine and inner liner and reinforce it from the inside. It's not really worth it and not really guaranteed to hold up in offshore riding. In California, the repair is over $5000
Why don't they just make them out of fibreglass ?
Why would a company that has been making skis for years make something so weak ?

Report your warranty problems to your state attorney. With multiple cases, they could launch a case.
Thats why i havr a 2022 fx, zero issues ;) few more lbs but better on riugh waters.
My 2022 GP hull cracked with 22 hours on it. Yamaha warranted it.. the body shop they use have painted half of it metallic black and the other half of it is solid black 😂 can’t win

We’ve had minimal problems in Australia with fx’s delaminating.
In my opinion, the roller trailers we offer in australia are much more forgiving than the roller and bunk trailers in the states,
I noticed a lot of jetski’s had damage on the hull due to the trailer bunks when I was in the states.
On roller trailers in australia have very forgiving large rollers and are spring loaded,
Now I’m not trying to defend Yamaha because this is obviously a manufacturing issue, but I’m saying that the trailers an America suck lol ,
For example. If you try and bring a trailer from the states, they won’t register it here in australia due the trailer not being sturdy enough and won’t be allow to qualify for the weight rating,
They can carry a kiak but not a jetski,
I think you guys in the states to to up your trailer specs because those things rattle like a tin can dragging down the road
Nanoxcell hulls are the problem. Yamaha switched back to smc on the 22+ fx hulls.
@@allenmarquez7527 gp1800r’s are nano excel and are experiencing zero issues. Or at least non that I’ve hear of,
It’s not the material that’s the issue. It’s the air pockets inside the nano hulls that are causing them to delaminate,
We’ve had an insurance so pant X-ray one of the hulls and has proven this to be the case.
Again it’s only an issue with the fx’s to my knowledge

Yamaha is a shitty company. My 2012 broke (DELAMINATED) 3 times. I was told that i hit a coconut, I asked the dealer weather that coconut follows me where i go, Warranty the first time then they did nothing the following 2 times. I sold the damn ski.
If the insurance company insured it knowing it has a problem and did not disclose the non coverage for hull, they are responsible. Just call the insurance commissioner
What issues do Kawasaki’s have?
