ya know. army ant major has an ability "rage." this activates when an army ant fights for enough. single one will double the damage. but THIS STACKS! so it will be 20x damage FOR EACH! more facts in down. but it's long. read if ya wan't. facts below are like 0.1 of what i can write. and also, more the army ant major, faster the activating time... so even if Atta cephalotes major is level 3, 20 level 1 eciton burchelli majors can SHRED the CRAP outta the leafcutter... dude, 20 major eciton and 40 media eciton just shreds the HUGE TITAN CLASS WHIP SPIDER! i just tested it in "battle arena". and if army ants are level 3, they just WIPE 3 HUGE WHIP SPIDERS OUT OF THE PLANET! 50 level 3 eciton major and 100 level 3 eciton major just shreds even the strongest Uber creatures (uber praying mantis, uber wolf spider etc.) fun fact: media ecitons can't activate rage UNLESS an major eciton is near them. oh... wait, i think your plan was different... 1 leafcutter major and 20 army ant major vs 100 black ants? and also. i know this is a REALLY old comment...
It's actually better for Army Ants to group up rather than to be sustained, because it's all about damage output, and against other Army Ants it's upfront damage output. Because if you gain even a small advantage, the damage output is so much that it snowballs so fast, allowing you fold the other colony who can only attack you in small numbers (and those piecemeal attacks allow you to maintain that flash/damage buff). Upgrading those Majors helped in the end, but it was only when you had a significant amount of numbers that allowed you to defeat the Major counter attack from the other colony. TL;DR The first one to make the mistake, or blink first dies VERY quickly.

Why don't you try the freeplay endless one with gene thief? It can go on for AGES and you can split it up into multiple videos! (Though if you do this then as a tip, always have an attack group snd a worker 'gather' group because it can get insane.)
Do the hunter game mode in Freeplay, and hunt some Uber's also add ramp with spikes and increased difficulty close to win condition for an extra challenge! :)
