The narrator in this series is actually my favorite guy ever. Absolutely nutty fella. If you think you have him figured out after this arc, the next one is insane.
Kubikiri Zaregoto It's an anime with gigantic power and totally brilliant. When I started watching it at the time of release it was love at first sight and I never stopped. And it's amazing how with each episode he remained interesting to me.
@@CulturedCrusader Feeling something like this is normal hehehhe Really Nision is not an author who plays in service, both in Monogatari and in Zaregoto. It seems like he really gets involved with what he does, it's like fun for him.
@@koloow I've grown to like uprooted radical, but ever since I hear that the final book was meant to take place back on the island and Nisio didn't have time to introduce that plot, I've been really disapointed. That sounds like an incredible ending.
@@hotwheelskid5397 it's sure that there's a lot of inspiration, but I still think Danganronpa and Kubikiri Cycle have nothing to do with each other if we compare something other than the synopsis. @@Chikayuki For sure lol. I'm not trying to say the dangonronpa guy was trying to make Kubikiri 2, they're wildly different in tone and intent. "No, that's wrong" or "Sore ha Chigau yo" is said by Kunagisa in the first meeting in the Kubikiri ova and they clearly reference dangonronpa with the camera which I think is funny because it's almost like a reference oroborous at that point. There was a boom of mystery writing in which anything and everything-from setting, to characters, to happenings- seemed possible. In this period, I discovered Nisio Isin, an author I really like. In the genre of mystery, there's a lot of conventions and rules. Nisio, in particular, really threw those rules out the window- he's always breaking the rules. In that way, Nisio really influenced me, and now I take his approach. [Editor's Note: Several of Nisio's works are available in English.]
I'm so happy to see than more people are discovering something that I still consider today as the greatest anime masterpiece I ever saw. The op is not great but osts and ending are amazing. Animation is awesome and character's personnality is more important than the plot itself. I just LOVE it 😊
I enjoyed Zaregoto, but it still saddens me a bit when I see people say the adaptation wasn't as good, I can imagine how they feel Like, the fortune teller girl didn't ask the protagonist to solve her own murder in book 1, which would be an awesome sequel hook I think the author insisted on hiring different VAs than the ones from Monogatari, just in case a crossover happens in anime form Shaft is not doing as well lately, or so I've heard, maybe I only want more Monogatari before Zaregoto because it was done better
Try Gankutsuou - you’ll love it. And thanks for the video! It’s nice when someone covers this underrated gem (the books are way better, especially the second).
I re-watched Princess and the Pilot and it was just as enjoyable the second time. A bit hard to find but it's a fun little movie, especially if you like WW2-style planes. Good story, some good aircraft fights, and an interesting world that's covered just enough to let the viewer understand what's going on but not so much it becomes mundane.
Had a blast watching Kubikiri Cycle: The Blue Savant and the Nonsense User. Only 2 issues I had with it. Crime wasn't completely solvable. The clues were insufficient to for any conclusion that was revealed after the case had been solved (the bit with the consultant bringing to light the missing elements to the mystery). The true motive. That twist ending that is probably the one you allude to here 1:40 . The second problem was of the unrealistic nature of any teen to be capable of performing such murders in this specific way, with such a tool. Ok, there was a third. It was cool, but a major problem with the second case regarding the position of the body, and lack of any traces that would have been left behind had the case run the way it was resolved. Super hard to explain in detail without any details. XD I watched up to 5, and then backpedalled to go over all the info again before finally pushing on to see the result. It's nice to see a murder mystery show where you can actually solve the case without characters knowing things the viewer never gets to know, nor new things just being invented to solve the case. Everything is in the show to provide the who did what, how, and when. The rest of the psychological drama surrounding the narrator was just annoying background noise for me. Now to see the comments for more recommnedations. edit: 5:57 oh that person undresses on purpose. If you missed the reasoning, you weren't paying attention to the story behind the one who owns/runs the island. She is exists for clues to some information we get at some point throughout the show, and even then... well. You will see a flashback when it becomes important during a scene.
Ah my brother greets us today with a new video. Perhaps the next time we meet, we will hear your thoughts on other topics and recommendations. Thank you sir and keep up the good work. Ps. @@CulturedCrusader I literally could not care less for Monogatari and Bakemonogatari. I've started them each at least three times. My eyes glaze over after a few episodes due to the complete lack of stakes.

I'm not actually a fan of the Kubikiri anime, and think it's a rather poor adaptation. It's difficult to point a finger at any single issue because it's more a lot of little ones that add up. To list a few: cutting a couple of very important Maki scenes; massively lessening the impact of Jun's introduction by having her show up at the end of the penultimate episode for no reason; the sub-par animation quality (especially for an OVA) in a number of places; and just a general feeling that SHAFT's directorial style isn't really suited for a series like Zaregoto. Then there's lesser things like using Akio Watanabe's redesigns of the characters despite take (their original artist, she also did the designs for Katanagatari) making a few reference sheets for the anime that look way better. Apparently this sentiment isn't uncommon in Japan either, and discussions about the OVA over there will usually have a few people asking for a remake.
Hey man you should watch Cross Ange. It's a forgotten gem in the rough, exemplifying the best and worst of anime. It's a futuristic world where everyone can use magic and it is seen as normal as using electricity. There are a few who are not born with these powers and are seen as monsters, so they are conscripted into prisoner military units who use mechs to fight dragons. There are multiple great twists and revelations in this anime. It's definitely one of my favorites and I think you'll like it too. Deus Vult!
