Dimash has been singing since age 5 and has been vocally trained all his life. He has two Masters degrees and is finishing off his PhD. He trains his voice at least 3 hours a day and goes swimming to increase his lung capacity. Both his parents are singers as well. He grew up competing in singing competitions and his break out performance of SOS in the Chinese singing competition I Am Singer literally made him famous over night. He is a huge star in China as a result. He has been living in LA recently and working with producers while also doing some touring. I hope he does a North American tour at some point.
This song is based on a true story. It’s about a cable car accident in China where the car was overloaded by 3 times the amount it was supposed to be. A young couple was in the car and going down the mountain the cable broke. The couple knowing that they were going to die lifted their 2 yr old son in the air saving his life. I believe 14 people died. The author of this song heard the story and wrote this song she later adopted the young child.Dimash has only sang this song twice the first time while he was on The Singer the second in this his first concert. Thank you. Dimash has been in music since he was 5 years old.Dimash was about 22 when he sang this song.

There was a cable car in China that crashed down, as a result of being over-filled fell, killing 14 people. One young couple held their infant son above their heads, sacrificing themselves to save their child.
"Daybreak" is the tribute and lament of that young boy for the parents he'll never know. The song's creator later adopted that young boy. The first time I heard this song was this same rendition in the Bastau concert. It made me cry though I can´t understand chinese and the video had not subs.
He sang this in 2017 on the Singer, & there is a full story behind this song, because it's based on a true occurrence. A disaster in a cable car where parents held their 2.5 year old son up for rescue while they died. The composer of the song later adopted that child. Reading the story puts a whole new emphasis on this song's meaning.

Thank you so much for this reaction. You've take the words out of my mouth. DIMASH is surely a GIFT to all of us human kind. The amount of loved and respect i have for this man is unmeasurable. He sang directly to our soul and he stayed there permanently.
I've been worshiping his music since 4 years ago and always wondered what would it be to be in one of his concert. And my dream comes true when he held a concert in my country last June 2023. I've been in the clouds the whole time. My body felt numb and brain are melting trying to digest him in front of my eyes. The 3 hours concert was magnificent and magical.

This is a cover. Song is about a true story. Boy orphaned when his parents use their bodies to cushion the fatal drop from a broken cable car. 14 deaths.
It would be impossible to be as good as Dimash and be completely self taught.😉
Dimash has been professionally trained for 24 years. The only self taught part was in the very high notes in the beginning because his culture and teachers frowned on such non-traditional notes for a young man. He practised in secret.
He still uses vocal teachers regularly because he insists that one cannot hear their own voice as clearly. He is always experimenting and trying out new things however.

“Daybreak” - At his first concert in Bastau: This song tells the sad story of a Chinese boy (Quon Yan), who along with his family, suffered a cable car accident in Xingyi city in Guizhou province, where many people died, but the boy's parents held him up with their hands and he survived, though the parents died. The song was written and composed by the boy's adoptive mother (Han Hong) and Dimash sang the song for the first time in Mandarin on “The Singer 2017”, but he had a sore throat and sang through injections. The doctor said that if he sang high notes, he would never sing again... He sang! Then he made this wonderful version, already cured, at his show in Bastau!

Actually, Dimash is a highly educated musician and composer. He started in music school at the age of five where he began piano studies and classical singing, and continued with music all his life! He has a bachelor's degree in contemporary music, a master's degree in music Composition, also studied theater and jazz, and is gradually working towards his PhD in Musicology, when he has time in his busy schedule.
