Are you an US expat living elsewhere? What things do you miss about the USA? Or any expat living abroad - what do you miss most about your home country?

Yes, make the video about perimenopause. Women need as much warm articulate dialogue around their healthcare as people can put out there!
Native North Carolinian here and the way I perked up, and was sad, when yall (yes, two people) said NC. Wow. My first thought was, “But the Brunswick stew!” Then yall talked about BBQ. Lol!
Also, my mom swears the tiny green garden snake, hundreds of feet alway, in the yard is locking eyes with her, ready to get her. 😂

Yes... if they're out there, then they're out to get you!!
I am hoping to do a video on perimenopause as I feel it is not talked about enough also, and I would hope it would start a good conversation.
And we do love NC... with the access to the mountains on one side and the beaches on the other, it's really great. And so easy to get up and down the East Coast - all reasons why we chose to move here! And with Paul being an alumnus of UNCC, we'll always have a link!

You really won't need to worry about air-conditioning and bugs not hot enough in UK 😅

I don't know - we were over summer 2019 and there was a heat wave! I've never wanted to climb into a Tesco freezer until then!

We had planned to take them both with us, but unfortunately we found out that our sweet Samson had cancer last summer, and so we had to say our finals goodbye at the end of August. But we are taking Monty - he's getting used to his travel kennel as I type! Thanks for the question, and your support!

The UK is the last place I'd move to. I escaped from there to Canada in the 1980's. So thankful to not be in the UK now.

Canada is a lovely place - glad you like it there! We did look into a move there years ago, but we were too old I think for the visa process.

    I don't think I'd cope in a smaller house, myself.😃

I could, because small spaces are quicker to clean. My form of neurodiversity leaves me struggling to clean and organize my lovely large space.

We are lookin forward to smaller home, although we think it will an adjustment. For the reason peopled have commented on - less to clean, easier to heat, etc. Plus we'd like to use our money to travel a bit and not lock it all up in a big house.

@@HereandTherewithHimandHer, My husband and I retired a couple of years ago and sold the family 4 bed detached house in a small village for a 2 bed, ground floor flat in the middle of the historic part of Stamford, Lincs.
We absolutely love it, and it's so nice not to have a big house to clean and maintain. We have a nice private patio space and certainly don't miss having to mow the lawn, clip hedges and weed the garden.
And, because we paid a lot less for our flat than what we sold the house for, we have enough money in the bank to travel to places that were on our bucket list, as well as visiting our son in Australia more frequently.
We just wish we'd done it a lot sooner instead of waiting until we retired.
I was a secondary school teacher, and wouldn't recommend looking for a teaching post when you get back here to the UK.
I loved my job until the last 10 years or so. Teaching has changed so much since I started in the 1980s,and I found myself working most evenings and weekends, just to keep up with the all the admin : detailed lesson planning, detailed course files for each class, detailed student assessments and personal development plans for each student, marking and feedback for all work , even classroom activities etc, etc...
I was burnt out with it all. There was no joy in teaching my subject anymore.
It's easy to get a teaching job over here now, as teachers are leaving in droves, and everywhere is short staffed - but I wouldn't recommend it if you can possibly do something else.

That depends on your situation - we are going back to semi-retire, but if we were younger we'd probably stay here. If you let us know a bit more about your move maybe we could give you more info.

@@HereandTherewithHimandHer we are 56 and my husband company have sorted visa to work over there we chose Orlando as love the weather and parks but have grown kids and grandkids here in UK, it is our last chance to try living there but it is a massive upheaval,I do have health issues ( ileostomy and various things tho we will be earning more with exchange rates) so confused and keep kicking bucket down road! Any thoughts?

    • @HereandTherewithHimandHer
      @HereandTherewithHimandHer  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@SamanthaSmith-tv1jl It sounds exciting for you! I would make sure you understand the health care benefits that your husband's company will offer you both - know that you can no longer be refused care due for pre-existing conditions, so you should be good with the ileostomy. I would just want to know the extent of the coverage - can someone explain that to you. We are both teachers and our coverage is not the best - our colleagues tend to go their spouses insurance if they work for a good company as it is always better!
As for your location - Orlando!! You are going to get lots of visitors... can we come? And I think as locals you may even get a discount for the parks, but don't quote me on that!
As you said, this may be your last chance to do something like this, so don't be discouraged by the hard work to get here - if that's really what you want. If you have any specific questions on the move let us know - we've done our fair share of moving! I, myself, moved country every 3 years with my father's work growing up, so moving it kinda my norm!
Let us know how we can help - and we wish you the best of luck!

Waffle house thing you said isn't about damage. It's if waffle house is still open during a hurricane then the hurricane ain't all that bad. Nothing to do with damage.
