    I liked this method so well that i bought a cheap used 10" portable table saw, set it up for this cut (with 2 71/4" blades with paper shims) and now dedicated it for cutting drawers only. Works absolutely great and saves lots of setup time, and goes out of the way on a shelf till needed again. I named it my "rabbet lock joint saw" lol

    Any specific reason for making the back a dado instead of just making it the same as the front with the rabbits?

      I Agree it made it more complacted of a set up, I like the quarter quarter quarter draw you can search that on youtube.

    you changed your set up there so why not use the 1/4 - 1/4 - 1/4 rule? one setup on all cuts for perfect fit

      Hey I know a blind woodworker no joke! the guy makes stuff on his lathe and uses his hands for feel, I'd like to see some of his work I'll bet its very nice and smooth to the touch. he went blind after years of woodworking with eye seight.
      Its true you can overcome any problem, just wished I could get my Son to belive that. Look I can't spell But I get by.
      Search youtube for quarter quarter quarter draws. Maybe his has subtitlets on it

    You failed to mention cutting the back narrower than the front so the bottom slides in after assembly of the other parts. Clearly you did cut it narrower.

      he's got room it could be the same, and it would lock the draw in with the back lip. seems like a waste of space the way he did the back if you ask me. search you tube for quarter quarter quarter draw's I like that way better.

    Wasted space in the back, no rabbit on the back and not using the drawer bottom to make the drawer square...more of a how NOT to IMHO. As mentioned by others search for quarter quarter quarter drawers for the right way to do this!

    - Surprised that WOOD magazine is allowing the use of both the miter gauge & fence at the same time. That has always been a woodworking "NO NO."

    • @bobbg9041
      @bobbg9041 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why? I don't see any reason it should be.

      @@bobbg9041 because you don't have a cut off piece getting trapped at the back of the blade, which would cause a kick-back.

      Unless he does a through cut elsewhere in the video, non through cuts are usually not frowned upon with the fence and miter gauge

    You've managed to over complicated a very simple build. Give it another try, young man. (by the way; those drawer slides are very trailer park ;-)
