Thank you for the update on Church Street Station!!! I spent many wild nights there, including one in the early 80’s when a tornado touched down in the area briefly. I have never seen such a downpour. One of the wild nights included meeting the Rosie O’Grady’s Uncle Sam (the one on stilts) in the parking lot, and having him join us in our van for a “smoke” break between his sets. Very memorable.

The "wood chipper" is a milling machine, which rips up asphalt on the roads, and the conveyor belt loads what it pulls up into dump trucks. I used to see them a lot on I-4 construction.

Wow,.the woodwork quality and detail in just a simple old Amtrak station just blows away the anything they would make today for the same purpose. Can you imagine anyone doing something like that now?

Ah, another visit down memory lane! My family and I had many enjoyable visits to Church Street Station in the 1990's. The last time I was there was around 1998 when I attended an Air Force Association Banquet in a building that was close to the entrance by I-4. That night Huey Lewis and the News were performing on the street and we could hear them loud and clear. So sad that area is pretty much abandoned now. I remember in 1991 waiting to see the City Hall implosion on TV. It took forever for them to get it done. I finally gave up and went to bed but my son stayed up to watch it even though it was a school night. Hard to believe it has been over 30 years ago! Thanks again for stirring my memories!

That actually is used to pulverize asphalt. It's an asphalt mill machine. It loads the asphalt right into the truck as it goes along, milling the asphalt into chips.

Hi Adam, the white machine is a road surface removing machine, a big plane / shaver for the road.
Sure you can use it to cut down trees, but it’s better on the road, as you will need to flip it upside down for yard work!

Not a tree shredder, but a cold planer. It’s an asphalt milling machine that removes pavement or concrete from driving surfaces.

I remember how long it took for them to shoot that scene. Church street was so much fun back then with the restaurants and third floor arcade. And the Beacham theater around the corner. And GG was a friend of a friend who drove him to his first "poo concert" at a VFW hall near Peoria Il. back in the 80's. He had planned it out and ate a bunch of chocolate ex-lax beforehand.

Hey Adam, I've commented many times before. I work in the film industry and my wife worked on Ernest Saves Christmas and I have a colleague that worked on Shakma, both shot in Orlando. My wife has a lot wild stories about working on that show (show is a generic term we use for work, regardless if it's a feature or TV), due union issues they put the crew (or at least the teamsters) up in the Contemporary. Can you imagine basically living in the Contemporary??? One story involved a teamster hot wiring a parking lot tram. Working in the film industry used to be wild, out of control, and fun though the work was brutal. Since streaming with companies like Netflix, Apple, and such, there is a more corporate feel, in some ways that's good BUT it just isn't fun anymore; perhaps that's my age speaking. Shoot, I can't tell you the last show where there was a wrap party that I worked on... We're The Millers or Tammy.

Cheyenne Saloon was always in that location. Great country western dance hall. Been there a lot and tons of fun. Rosie O'Grady's Good Time Emporium was across the street. That was also a fun place. It was like the Golden Horseshoe Review at Disney with can can girls dancing and singing on the bar, etc. It was such a long time ago it's easy to mix up the locations.

No mention of the Angebuilt hotel fire ( which I lived at during that time) or Light up Orlando, the festival held on Orange Ave. That included Rosie Ogradys ,Phenius Phogs balloon works, The Cheyenne saloon and most of Church St. It's always Ernest locals. Shoot I was driving south on OBT down by the east west toll road and was stopped so they could shoot a scene for the movie Darylle one night. Anyways I love the reminiscing of old times content but there was many, many more things happening other than Ernest ,punk rock and the Florida project.....

Um, that (19:12) isn't Chief Wood'nhead from Creepshow 2. It was actually an original sculpture (rather than a cigar store statue) by Mike Trcic who was lead sculptor on the T- Rex in Jurassic Park among many other credits. After molding, casts were made for a latex/foam statue with animatronic head and a body suit for the actor. Unfortunately, Mr. Trcic passed away two weeks ago. Phenomenal sculptor.
