- mr1upz has a crack at ranking every Mega Evolution Pokemon. All 48 Mega Evolutions. Like a huge spiritual successor to my previously most viewed video I made when I was like 16 for the most stupid mega evolutions (Which has now conveniently enough overtaken that as my highest viewed upload. Bosh).
Since Pokemon Scarlet or Violet seem to have zero, as well as literally every Pokemon game since Pokemon X and Y, it appears as though this video will forever be the definitive Pokemon Mega Evolution Tier List. So seeing as it's somewhat likely we're never gonna see new mega evolution Pokemon again, only way you're getting new mega evolutions is through one of them mad GBA Mega Evolution rom hacks. So which of the mons that temporarily buff themselves up will supreme?

Currently using her in my platinum game and oh boy farming in the underground to teach her ice punch and running around for an hour to get the friendship high enough was Not worth at all 😂 which makes me sad cuz I like her a lot

The funniest thing about Mega Sableye, is that in Vgc, its actually worse than normal Sableye, by a lot, normal Sableye has a really cool niche by being a Prankster mon thats immune to Fake Out and the only Prankster mon with Quash, Mega-Sableye doesnt have this niche.
+ it takes up the mega slot which you could be using for the beeg khan or the jetplane lizard

To be honest I actually like that Garchomp offers a tradeoff instead of a pure power boost. I would have really liked this approach for all pseudo-legendaries/legendaries to prevent them from raising the power ceiling even more.
Except that maybe you don't realize this, but what you said is exactly the reason why Mega Garchomp is by and large ignored in terms of competitive viability. The lowered speed stat just isn't worth giving up to boost it's offensive abilities, and it loses a lot of defensive merit as well since it no longer has rough skin to passively hurt enemies attacking it and cannot use held items like leftovers to restore HP each turn or a rocky helmet to make the damage done through it's ability even more punishing. And that's without getting into the fact that it can no longer use choice items as well, which it is more than capable of taking advantage of. Because of all these reasons, the mega evolution of Garchomp is considered to be the worse form to use it in

@@altermann1991 ehh it probably wouldn't be an uber as base garchomp already has a higher attack stat than its mega when holding a life orb so even if mega garchomp didn't lose any speed it wouldn't suddenly be broken
Garchomp definitely could've had a different ability that wasn't dependent on sand to balance it's speed loss but nah useless ability

Wait, so according to the pokedex when you mega evolve Kangaskan the mega energy goes to the baby. When Kangaskan mega evolves it’s base stats in defence go up. Does this mean when using a punching move against mega Kangaskan my pokemon is also punching the kangaskan’s child?
I'd say the mother is less vulnerable when she doesn't have to protect her baby and instead can focus on protecting herself.

Garchomps main flaw is it’s special attack, the points that went into that stat could’ve easily gone into spdef and def (with def being higher.) Then it would back up the loss in speed and could tank hits while hitting boosted moves from sand force. That would not be nearly as bad
Or they could just.. not remove his speed? or even better yet! not give the overpowered sand fish any special treatment when he's already calmly clapping cheeks with the beeg UBER bois

The only place I ever heard this was back in I believe series 8 of VGC this year with Weakness Policy. It wasn't a particularly good set (though I was one of those saying it wasn't completely terrible, granted), there was lots of things doing it better than it, but now with the Dynamax ban it's not worth it. And I never heard of set up Lugia anywhere else besides that very particular VGC format and some incredibly niche (ie memey) sets in Ubers.
Also, Lugia has 110 Speed and not 90 btw, it has 90 Atk and SpA, which is the reason why it's never used a sweeper since if Lugia is available to you, then that means other big legendaries are as well and in that case these offensive stats are just sad if not downright pathetic. Lugia isn't a sweeper, it's a downright wall 99% of the time and it's very good speed only compliments it's EXTRAORDINAR bulk (and I cannot stress enough how good it's bulk is, to come back to Mega Garchomp, for that thing to have the same bulk as that monster, a few point of difference but it would be comparable, it would need 15 Defense and freaking 60 Special Defense, Lugia's bulk doesn't make any sense especially when you factor in Multiscale, there's very few things in the game that can OHKO this beast from full)

And Sub Roost Calm Mind Lugia might be idk "useful" if you are playing at the bottom of the ladder but it is not a reliable set whatsoever in an actual ranked battle and is a waste of a Lugia and watches up extremely poorly against the metagame. Lugia is not meant to be a set up sweeper, the only exception was in series 8 but even then it was "okay" and largely outclassed by Galarian Moltres and Yveltal in what it tried to do, you might have seen success with it in a few random matches, but it doesn't make Lugia an actual set up sweeper, sorry but it's just how it is
The thing is I have been using a Beedrill ever since firered/leafgreen came out. I mean he has plenty of uses. Ariel Ace beedrill with 5 levels under the guys at the fighting dojo still sweeps. When he got his mega, he became one I would use always. Sad to see the mega's gone because it made beedrill more than just an early final evolution.

Mega beedrill was insanely nasty to use. Especially when you maxed out its speed and special attack. It's ability adaptability made it so dangerous, especially using fell stinger correctly.

Mega Absol was so underrated from my experience it was a Dark Type with 150 Atk and Magic Bounce who learn Knock Off. Thats the best combination for a wallbreaker.
Yeah, but it's just way too fragile. Meaning that even if you can't get statused by the stall pokemon, they can still hit you hard.
And any pokemon that can survive an attack from Mega Absol can just OHKO it in return.
150 attack is good, but without an offensive ability to add on to that attack stat, it just inst enough power.
A great offensive mon needs to have a good attacking stat, an ability that compliments this stat, and a good movepool.
Mega Absol is fast and fragile, if it could hold a Choice Band it would be great, but as it stands, 150 attack without a life orb or choice band isn't powerful enough to OHKO most bulky pokemon, and it's do frail that most enemy attacks will defeat it.
@@babywizard9027 And by todays meta he is not even that fast and things like Dracovish exist who are way better at wallbreaking. But if they buff his Def and SpDef to at least 80 or 90 and also 160 atk, Absol would have been in a much better spot.
But Absol have the tools to be powerful, it's just that it don't have the stats like 90% of all Pokemons. Specially because is competing for the Mega Slot.
@@theamericanbrotherofmightg3734 Mega Absol feels like it could've been a regular evolution. It's simply not good enough to compete for a mega slot with stuff like Mega Salamence, but if it could hold an item and not take up a Mega slot, it would be really good.
I could definitely see it as an OU, maybe even Uber staple, with multiple sets like Choice Band, Choice Scarf, and even Swords Dance, as an offensive pokemon with Magic Bounce, it would occupy a unique niche that's actually pretty good, and it would finally be able to use an item to give it the power boost it so desperately needs.

I love mega evolution, but I wish it wasn’t given to a ton of strong Pokémon.
That’s probably why my favorite mega evolutions are Ampharos, Sableye, Altaria, Absol, and Slowbro. Because those are weaker Pokémon who could have used a buff and they gave them a mega to buff them.
I mean they had to give it to more powerful Pokemon and it’s a good thing
plus abrol and altaria were actually insanely strong with their mega forms, giving them a chance to shine in actual competitive matches. imo slowbro was always pretty good though, i never considered him weak but the mega is welcome

Sigilyph would have been a great evolution. It was based on Nazca Lines, so the possibility for improving on its design with a mega to make it like the hawk Nazca Line instead of the hummingbird would have been awesome.

Talking about Psuedos, Metagross and Salamence were the only 2 megas which were worth it. I'd say Metagross really needed that 110 speed stat as it crippled to Dark types from Gen 6 but Salamence got absurdly overpowered with amazing sweeping capabilities and good defenses which it lacked.

Mega houndoom looks amazing. Literally couldn’t look any better.
Too bad it got Solar Power. It would have benefited more from Dark Aura jacking up Dark Pulse. However, aside from giving it a useless and arguably detrimental ability - I don't think the power boost in Drought/Sunny Day is worth it if you keep losing health until the sun wears off - Mega Evolution does improve Houndoom. It's no longer getting pounded into the ground by every Mach Punch and Aqua Jet that comes its way thanks to a considerable Defence boost and its Special Defence, Special Attack and Speed get increased too.
I agree. Mega Beedrill is genuinely one of the coolest and most needed mega evolutions and I love it

Sableye, before Gen 8, was OU with its prankster ability. True pokemon trainers know how nuisance and dangerous it can be. Burning your Pokemon with Wil-o-s, regenerate its HP with recover, hitting you with Foul Play. If you don't have a fairy or special type pokemon, Sableye can basically sweep your 3-pokemon team of pseudo legendaries like Tyranitar, Garchomp and Salamence

Mega Evolution is my favourite and to me personally the best generation gimmick they have introduced 🔥 Hoping they bring it back at some point and stick with it, so many possibilities for Pokémon to get cool designs and typings 🤞🏻

I apologize for being super late to this, but I just wanted to share my personal opinion on mega Heracross. I agree that it might not look the best for sure, but it looks much more like the animal its name was based on (Hercules Beetle) instead of being just a plain old rhinoceros beetle. To mildly add to this, the Japanese name of Heracross is only a single letter away from the Japanese name of Hercules beetle (ヘラクレス or to put it in English, Heracress) so I just want to give out a tiny bit of justification for Mega Heracross.
Yeah, it still could use an improvement or two though.

Sableye was my answer for dragon types back in gen 5 before fairies. Being able to just come in and burn things, clean em up with foul play.

Imagine if Mega Pokemon were a permanent form that each had a very unique mission to get it's Mega Stone, which would have them evolve permanently mid battle. Of course the og games would have had only 1 of each stone

Nah, make a couple part of their natural evolution where they gain the stats and the look. Like pidgeot could just look like mega pidgeot; it just naturally evolves into it from pidgeotto. You could have the normally recessive/dormant genes that mega stones typically awaken by force be dominant to decently rare in this region. Having some mega forms occuring naturally and others spawning out in the wild would be cool as hell.
