I did a video with the fieldpiece probes. I put 25 foot markers on a roof. I was still connected at 250 feet. I couldn’t go no further since I ran out of roof. I am happy with the fieldpiece smart probes. Sad they will get very little use until April rolls back around. Yet the pyro in me likes winter work

I've done some looking between fieldpiece and testo. Testo has the better warranty.
It looks like fieldpiece is better on performance. I just worry about spending that kind of money with a 1 year warranty?
So the fieldpiece warranty is 1 year?
    Testo warranty is 2 years?
    Uei warranty ?
Has anyone used the fieldpiece for over a year and not have any problems?
Thank you Zach for the test.

Had a testo 557s I got in November 2021. got direct sunlight on it in the summer. screen quit working. forced work to replace it. got a new set this June. and now it's August and it quit working. 😒 having to go back to being a simpleton and using only analogs for a while.

I have to ask and i mean no hate by this but why would you care to walk more than 10 feet away? If im checking pressures on a unit thats right in front of me, why would i need to go 30 feet away? I work in residential hvac so i may not use them the same way as others. Just curious to what yalls answers are.

So whats the purposes of you walking a mile away from the unit your trouble shooting if the damn tool can reach 100ft thats good enough for me. I have been using my testos for two years with no issues. Dont need to fork out 600 bucks for a fieldpiece or the Uei I'm very pleased with what I payed for my Testo probes and they have working goat

Really I think if theirs any bad weather or if you have the luxury to go back inside the building to get out of the heat that's the real advantage. But you'd still need to go back up to perform any other work.

I would rather have a correct measurements at a short range than a wrong measurement at a further distance away... My job accuracy trumps distance any day...

I briefly owned the Fieldpiece probes earlier this summer but quickly retuned them. The connectivity of the set I received was absolutely horrible. Constant dropping out and reconnecting even while nearby my phone. The range was not impressive either. I returned them and bought a Testo 550 and a gen 2 605i. Very happy with both. The 605i does not drop out like the Fieldpiece did and I very much prefer the testo app to the Fieldpiece. I have not done an open air distance test with either set, but I haven’t been disappointed with the 605i, though the range hasn’t blown me away either. I would definitely buy the testos hands down even after seeing this. This video and my experience with the Fieldpiece probes does make wonder if maybe I got a bad set of the Fieldpiece probes and Zack got a bad set of the testos....

Nate Leatherman u did get a bad set of field piece probes. But Zach did not get a bad set of testo. Jon hvac has videos of the new testos and his don’t go as far as Zach’s testos did even. Fp probes are sweet I have two sets and both sets are amazing! Plus there customer support is second to none. If u would of called fp they would of sent u new probes no questions asked then when received u got a shipping label to send your junk ones back.

Tresto changed the style of the pressure probes to a 45 degree offset with the 2nd gen. And they changed the hygrometer sensors as well. Their alot narrower and better magnet placement. They are cheaper than fieldpiece.

It's personal preferences. I use the probes with a backseat core depressor and an extra port so i can attach a hose. It's a lot less possible leak points that could have you chasing your tail when looking for a leak or putting a system under vacuum. I don't use a manifold gauge anymore

I really don't understand these range tests, who cares? As long as it stays connected when Im standing in front of the damn thing , that's all I need. Its not like Im going to connect them , and then try and diagnose the RTU while sitting in my van driving away to the Starbucks. Maybe , we should be pushing the manufacturer to make probes more durable, more magnetic, more temperature resistant so it doesn't get melted in the heat exchanger while doing a temperature delta , make more of them connect so I can do a complete coil efficiency test with enthalpy including CO2 since everyone seems so focused on co2 readings.
