- So this is obviously not a synth, but a friend recently acquired this and wanted me to do a video on it and that's good enough reason for me. Only so much demonstrating can be done, so I kept this video short. This is a classic and shockingly easy to use drum machine. It differs from the big DMX by having less percussion sounds and some cosmetic changes. Unless you want timbales, just get a DX!
Check out my synth duo at:

Love the warm sound of the true analog Juno 106, in tandem with the punchy sound of the DX. Nice playing too.
In the Patti LaBelle songs "New Attitude" and "Something Special (Is Gonna Happen Tonight)", the Oberheim DX was heard.
In the song “Into Your Eyes” (1986), the Oberheim DX sounds/bass drums/snare drums and Yamaha DX7 ROM-4A patch “Tub Bells” and Roland S-50 snare drums were heard.
The Oberheim "Stretch" DX is really a "stretch" version of the Oberheim DX which is the stripped down version of the Oberheim DMX.
Nothing like a vintage drum machine and some 80s synth jam!
In the song “Crush on You” and “Dancin to the Hits”, the Oberheim DX was heard/the Oberheim DX snare drums mixed with the Oberheim DX claps were heard.
Just picked one of these up the other day, cant wait to try!!
In this video, the Yamaha DX7 custom patch “Roland Alpha Juno-series Bell Chimes 1" was heard and Oberheim DX snare drums sometimes mixed with the Oberheim DX claps were heard.
Hey Adam, do you know what patch library this is from?
Daniel I don’t know.
In 1989-1990 and 1994 Kidsongs versions of some songs and some 1990 Kidsongs made up songs, the Oberheim DX sounds were heard.
The Oberheim DX snare drums sometimes mixed with Oberheim DX claps were heard in Last Christmas (1984).
That was actually a Linn. Not an Oberheim
In “Sweet Dreams” (1983), the Roland Juno-60 patch “PMW Chorus”, Oberheim DMX and Oberheim DX are heard.
This is also wrong. Eurythmics never used a DMX or DX
In the 1984 version of God Rost Ye, Merry Gentlemen, the Linn 9000 sounds and Oberheim DX sounds were heard.
In some versions of some nursery rhymes songs in Wee Sing Together/some 1985 Wee Sing versions of some songs, the Oberheim DX is heard.
The Oberheim DX is heard in “Flashdance... What a Feeling” (1983) and Tuff Turf (1985).
In Fishin’ Blues by Kidsongs (1989), Were Gonna Get Wet by Kidsongs (1990), The Name Game by Kidsongs (1990), Do the Silly Willy by Kidsongs (1990), the Oberheim DX and Simmons SDSV were heard.
At 0:23, the “Guess the Beat” and “Good Time” (the 1989 The Rockets songs) beat.
In 1990, Kidsongs covered the 1964 Shirley Ellis song “The Name Game”.
The Oberheim DX and Simmons SDSV are heard in the Kidsongs song "Do the Silly Willy".
In the song “Fast Food” from Kidsongs, the Oberheim DX sounds were heard.
In the 1995 Space Cadet Pinball Game theme, the Oberheim DX was heard.
In the 1988-1990 Blockbuster Kids theme, the Oberheim DX was heard.
The DX clap I love. I don't think the DMX has the same clap.
The Oberheim DX snare drums were heard in “Into the Groove” (1985).
Not Linn Drum?
bass line on what?
@@RobertoGinsburg the song used maily a DX/DMX for the drums because the producer of this song has just bought this drumachine... but the question still for the bass : some people said its a DX7 (unlikely), some said it's a Minimoog with a snappy tuning, and some said its a Roland Jupiter Rack... Williams Kurt of the TH-cam show "Synth Sound of" have made a episode about how to recreate the song "Into the Groove" and explain some of the technics of this song, you sould check it out my friend, it's a pretty nice video :)
Roberto Ginsburg The LinnDrum bass drum is heard in “Into the Groove”.
Capitaine Sabor The Oberheim DX and Oberheim DX Stretch were heard in “Thieves Like Us”.
The Oberheim DX is heard in Maniac (1983) and I’ll Be There for You/Ya (1994).
I think that "Maniac" use the DMX, not the DX. *"The Messsage", "Blue Monday", "Sucker MC's ", "AJ Scratch" and "Jailhouse Rap" used the DMX* .
@@RobertoGinsburg Both you and Adam Harris are wrong, Maniac by Sembello used mainly the Linndrums, and i guess the whole album "Bossa Nova Hotel" used the Linn...
If you wanna see Michael Sembello work with the Oberheim DMX, you should listen the song Chaka Khan's song "Eye to Eye", because Michael and his brothers used the DMX :)
Capitaine Sabor In the song “Thieves Like Us”, the Oberheim DX is heard.
Roberto Ginsburg I know the Oberheim DX is heard in the song “Theives Like Us”.
Capitaine Sabor In the song, Maniac, the Simmons SDSV, LinnDrum and Oberheim DMX are heard.
Boyd Jarvis.
Nice
Wait so are all the sounds the same on the dx and dmx, other than the missing sounds?
