Love the Mario references. No wonder most SNES games used samples from Roland and Yamaha romplers.

Four MIDI keyboards later, I still have and love my M1. Loved it except when it needed the CR2032 battery to be replaced. Reminded me of the days decades ago when Detroit produced smaller cars with V8 engines where you had to lift and tilt the engine to replace the last spark plug. I never quite understood the logic of burying the CR2032 battery so deeply into the bowels of the device that it required taking out all of the internal boards and everything apart. After you reassembled the boards and tightened up the screws, you had to pray that you did it right and it still worked.

SO many iconic house tunes made on this thing. Video game OSTs too! Very very glad you hinted at them... amazing work : )

I remember when the M1, DX7, D50 etc first got out, they sounded like black magic machines. I still have an M1R at my parents'. I remember playing many a jazz gig in the 90s with the classic M1 piano sound.

Noticed pipeline by DM and the Super Mario map music. I used to have the Korg Legacy software version. I love the pads. Great stuff.

I have the Legacy plug-in as well and it’s great! The sound is a little different but the trade off for convenience AND having the sounds from all the M1 cards is great.

As a teenager with hardly a dime to my name I wanted one of these so bad. :)

Can't think of the M1 organ without She's Homeless, Show Me Love, and Chandra Chandra Bedrum.

My conclusion after watching all your synth stuff episodes: If we take for granted that the M1, the D-50 and the DX7 were the best sounding synths of the 80s, we reach to the conclusion that basically 80s synths sounded horrible and that it was the 70s synths that were USED during the 80s that made the 80s music so beautiful. Personally, I was born in 1978 and I wasn't interested in synthesizers until 1994. The first time I truly deeply madly lusted for a synth was when I heard a JD-800 for the first time..

I recognized "The Vents" from Ecco the Dolphin!

@@dijabreu Yep! I play Ecco tunes throughout a lot of the videos. Ed the creator and I are acquaintances. Got to make some music for him once a few years ago. I think I’m nearly due for a replay of those games!
