He was a friend of the Yippies. His books were great NYC novels. I got a chance to meet him when I saw him outside Balducci's in the Village while I was leading a tour group. A mensch, a real nice guy. R.I.P.
He came in to a music store I worked at in the 90s I was running the acoustic room so he was in there and we jammed on several tunes and one he sang I forget what it was other than it was about Texas,…we shook hands and he left I never knew who he was until many years later. May he RIP
Sorry to hear about the Kinkster. Saw him many times. Talked with him every time was a special guy. Will be missed. As he wrote on his autograph “see you in hell “. RIP 0:410:410:410:41
@ecamp6030 You nailed it. He was a mensch. With all that implies. A classic example of someone whose talent isn't appreciated by nearly as many as it should be.
Funny, smart and too decent for Politics. He was justly proud of being a musician. All the criticism he ever got came from those who had no sense of humor.
He was a realist for freedom, rights, and equality, yah, like me, he wanted weed to be as legal as alcahol, what's best in men anyways, truth is a good start, god rest his soul 🤔🐈🕊️✌️
You're right, it's a crime to have skipped Kinky's musical side. I lived in El Paso in the late 1970s and I liked him a lot. I liked that he later on got involved in politics but I knew that the bad guys would've circled the wagons to shut him out(and they did, sadly). I was delighted to read in a magazine(in the early 1990s) that he referred to Garth Brooks as "The Anti-Hank." His witticisms were always sharp and weird -- he will be missed.

I met him in Sweden /Gothenburg. May his memory be a blessing!
So sad. Meeting him in person was high on my bucket list 😭😭😭

the " Kinkster "
Should’ve played a little bit of his music. It would’ve been more fitting to honor him. You missed your chance.⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️
