Princely states were united before drafting of constitution. No matter how knowledgeable vp menon it was sardar patel who united all states against the wish of british and nehru with iron fist. Without sardar menon's knowledge would have been wasted. If it wasn't menon it would be someone else but if it wasn't sardar it would be no one else.

Was only saying that Menon is highly underappreciated for his phenomenal work..and no if it was not menon,then they would not hv found someone of the same efficiency.he was the only Indian in the internal partition committee of viceroy.mount batten was deeply impressed with his oceanic knowledge about constitution and the beurocracy systems..you would hv a different opinion if you read the book 'integration of princely states' by Menon..it contain the minute details and challenges he overcame while the annexation of princely states

I m from Pakistan.. I have learned so many things in this video... Jinnah was also in the favor of united Indian in his early age. But there was something wrong. Why Jinnah struggled for Pakistan? He was also an Indian. Definitely he loved united India naturally.

Pl accept my heartfelt compliments for such a beautiful and enthralling programme. The pleasure of watching such programmes is manifold when one has been witness to these events. I am in my seventies and feel nostalgic while watching the series. But I would like to draw your attention to one episode (17) wherein the views of Shri Rajeev Dixit have been included. Shri Rajeev Dixit has made a reference to Mahavir Tyagi. He said that Shri Tyagi was MP from Sonipat. But it is incorrect. He was MP from Dehradun (then UP) and represented Dehradun in the Lok Sabha. He was the member of Indian National Congress and still a bitter critic of Pt. Nehru like Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya. People of Dehradun saw him growing from a kid to a banyan tree politician. He was imprisoned several times. His remarks in the Lok Sabha over the discussion of Chinese aggression in 1962 were most biting when Nehru tried to console the agitated members by stating that the area captured by China is barren land. Mahavir Tyagi was quick to reply that my head is also barren (he was bald headed), does it mean that I should give it to China.
