Consider having a sheep or goat herder temporarily fence off your overgrown green areas with portable electric fences. Then the animals eat it all down with no need of burning diesel or your time to manage. This system works very well all over the world. No mechanical damage to the grounds nor compaction of the soils. As a plus, they add nutrients to the soil.
@09conrado the people who rent out their goats in my area set up their own portable enclosures. It allows the goats to mow down a specific patch without escaping. They can be creative buggers sometimes, though! 🐐
Poor Yanis. They need to feed him better. That tiny potato and carrot isn`t going to be enough for a week!! LOL- he`s so funny, and Alex laughing in the background makes it funnier.
I appreciate how Billy and Simon try to think ahead to reduce ever having to ever fix a problem. Like adding another brace to stop the board from pushing in.
And perhaps reinforce the corners of the plaster board well in that area as there will be a lot of objects being moved to and from the cellar using those stairs.
Noooo, not the last day of Alex, we'll miss him and Lela so much. Safe travels back! Billy really has the need to make holes everywhere in the convent, every x-time a new hole is there. Simon really is is the master, he's working so quickly. And what a great team with Yannis they were directly back in sync. So lovely to see Mick gardening, you see that he likes it a lot. Can't wait to see what he'll plant next.
Simon has been there 2 days and already we can see a lot of difference to the hall. It would have been nice to have put a photo of you all in the niche, so that the future finders would know who left them the gift. Love those potatoes Mick, great size. I have to harvest my Desiree reds at the end of the month. Goats or sheep are the way forward with keeping the growth down in the garden. Sorry you are leaving us temporarily Alex, your videos are excellent. Give Layla a hug. 🥔🐶😀
Perhaps the other set of bannisters are behind the wall. Maybe someone just covered them up to make the wall. Please tear down the wall going up the stairs and take a look. Well done Billy and crew! The building is changing into a beautiful structure.
Hi, I'm Marjo, from South Africa. My happiest days were in boarding school , run by nuns in the early sixty. May I suggest that you put the recorder in the, or as close as possible to the tiny room, with the beautiful paper, just a suggestion. Be blessed.
Like the variety in this video, especially Mick’s potato patch. Yanis is a comedian and can even joke in English. 👍 The entrance hall is really moving with Simon and Yanis on board. Crack on gentlemen! 🇨🇦🙏❤️
Billy finds treasure, Alex records treasure, Mr. Petherick grows treasure, Yanis restores treasure, and Rock Star Daddy leaves hidden treasure. Can't beat this bonded team with a stick!
I am sorry that Alex is leaving but glad to hear he will be back. Loved the video showing what everyone is doing. The potatoes will be so yummy much tastier from the garden.
Nice harvest Mick has reaped nothing like home grown veg. Simone progressing well. Oh what a shame no hidden treasure behind the panel damn lol. Have a safe journey back Alex see you soon
sad to learn your leaving Alex but, happy to know you have clients waiting for you over in England! You have become a bigger part of the Pethericks and as well become more more comfy to work with Billy. In fact now, You're One of them! Billy, hat was this 'banging' whilst you were 'Osmoing' ? Never mind, but it sounded like the bang in the Nite on the recorder ...
The convent is a busy place, Simon and Yanis doing the hallaway, your father digging up his potatoes and carrots. Sad to see Alex leaving for awhile , such a joy to have around, till tomorrow, CRACK ON.
I love the way you guys leave little treasures as you renovate the convent! The future owners will have such joy finding those. Now if you can find the convent holy treasures that the nuns have hidden or buried!
I watched your video, Alex, on how you do the videos for the Convent. Wow!!! I never realized how much running you do and all the work that is involved. Plus all the equipment! I'm grateful that I know how to take pictures on my phone!! I have a new understanding and respect, for the the work you do, Alex. See you when you get back!
*Simon, you should have signed your name inside that closed in section.... in fact it should contain ALL those that have worked on the convent up to this point, with the date the convent was brought by Gwen & Billy Petherick.... to the date that section was closed in. All part of the new history for the future generations who will renovate in 100 years time. 🙂nz*
Shame Alex is going, but great that he’ll return 😊 Billy, Today I ordered some Osmo for our back door , excited to try it out, we’d been wondering what to use & yesterday as I watched I realised the answer was staring me in the face. So thanks for the help! ❤
I love everything about the Pethericks and your channel. Watching Simon putting up plasterboard up by the ceiling, made me think of one of my favorite gadgets. There is a tool by Saker called a Contour Gauge Profile Tool Duplicator. Wondered if it would help with some of your difficult cuts on the plaster board. It’s a nifty tool and makes difficult and intricate cuts much easier to make.
Yanis has so much respect for Simon. I think it is mutual! We will miss Alex, but wish him all the best! He is very talented! My goodness, all those nails in those beams!! Dad looks like he enjoys clearing brush! Hard to believe all that growth in 3 weeks! Nice potato harvest! Billy, your doors look fantastic! Osmo is quite the product! Simon, love to hear you explain things. You make it all so clear. You got a lot done yesterday…now ready to board it up! You and Yanis are the dynamic duo!! Love from Pennsylvania, USA 💕🌷🐻
Omgosh! This episode threw me WAY back to when they came in and tore apart the entry area! And the cellar stair opening!! Hiding that bottle also reminded me of when they moved some big stones and buried stuff in there.... 😊
We were just-getting used to having Alex back.oh well. a month passes quickly! Your dad, Billy needs his own vlog.... "The convent garden with Mick!" he could teach Yanis all about growing veg!
I was hoping you would find a vintage bottle of something lovely behind that panel, to replace the one you hid behind the basement wall. Guess whoever put up that panel wasn’t as creative & thoughtful as you, Billy.

As per my suggestion yesterday to use several layers of wetted down cardboard to tackle weed growth and elimination, in addition to asking the local tip for it, there's always the local shops and the supermarket. I should have also said that as the garden is enormous, this method of weed elimination is only likely to be feasible if deployed in phases - just so you don't think I've completely lost the plot - well, almost, but not quite....😂😂 Someone in the comments section suggested goats, which isn't a bad idea, and could be used first to tackle the worst of the problem, before using layered wet cardboard to finish it.
