his voice changes almost every track... but you know him... its incredible... not only is he a good lyricist, he keeps you on the tips of the tips of your toes.
no, what i was trying to say was that it doesn't matter if it's mainstream or not, mainstream means what people listen to, it doesn't mean its bad, commercial on the other side, is when the music is made for the money, you know, materialism. so, point being, it would be good if music like this was mainstream, but unfortunately its the commerial music that people listen to
Love this album! I haven't listened to it in probably 10 years since my shadows on the sun CD got lost while moving to a new place. Saw him perform live in Philly back in 2004-2005ish?? But he was outstanding, and played all the hits from Rites of Passage and Shadows on the Sun. Guy is super talented, will never forget that show. The hip hop/rap garbage that is on the radio these days makes me sick and I feel sorry for the young kids these days that think this crap is good music to them. The beats may be good, but the lyrics are a joke and amateur at best
Part of this song is used in kanye's song mercy. it's at 3:07 and repeats. then listen to kanye's song and you can hear it at the beginning in the chorus part.
i would have agreed with that sentiment. Some of the best tacks originated in the 80s all the way to mid 2000s. Many exceptions, though. I definitely do not like the hip hop from 2015 and later. I just cant follow it. Thank goodness I found some hot tracks like this one.
Wikipedia: 'While Brother Ali's family is white, he has often described a childhood marked by cruelty and exclusion by his white classmates as a result of his physical abnormality. He's often explained that, from an early age, he felt "most at home amongst African Americans.' (Also: my first thought was "whoah, a rapper I like who's still alive!")
@gmodfanforlife132 I think u mean to define people like 50 cent, lil wayne, soulja boy, drake, etc.....as Rappers because thats what they are. But for the skilled assassinations on the mic...Like GZA, RZA, Del the funky homosapian, brother ali....those arent rappers. Their called MC's..they have a message and great lyricism(which is NOT flow like the dude said below me, lyricism involves the message and lyrical abilities)...flow is separate. Like u said a symphony
Is it this important if he lowers himself to be the part of a Gang. I listened to his lyrics and I cant see where he does presents himself as a ''G'' like you folks say. The song is about people who tries to understand his songs and how useless it is to because he writes them for himself. Seems like a paradox because you have to understand this song to know that. Love B Ali, at least he is not rapping to cover Drugs money.
this new era of what they call hip hop or should i say hip pop is wack .. kids dont no shit about hip hop today .. this is why i listen to only local cats who be killin the mic at local vinyards..
I was bumpin this in 05 before hip hop died son
This song...should be heard by everyone. One of Ali's best, one of the best of all time.
his voice changes almost every track...
but you know him... its incredible...
not only is he a good lyricist, he keeps you on the tips of the tips of your toes.

That the English dictionary lacks an adjective to fit me" badass rhyme
Had to listen to that, cool tune. Brother Ali is Legend.

a lot of people would say hip hop died way before 05. its all a matter of opinion
.
i would have agreed with that sentiment. Some of the best tacks originated in the 80s all the way to mid 2000s. Many exceptions, though. I definitely do not like the hip hop from 2015 and later. I just cant follow it. Thank goodness I found some hot tracks like this one.
And he just put out an album....even though it's dead
@alexkidoo did you end up finding which song it was from?

@PoopFartShitStain He states it in forest whitaker. He actually says he's albino.

8 people mistakingly clicked the dislike button cuz they mixed it up with dis-i-like.

Hip Hop is dead so int's underground like it's buried. Get it now?

this new era of what they call hip hop or should i say hip pop is wack .. kids dont no shit about hip hop today .. this is why i listen to only local cats who be killin the mic at local vinyards..
idk i listen to both... its like comparing a clean simple piece of graffiti to a wildstyle.
the beats on this album were so fucking wack. its like Ant found his worst beats and was like Brother Ali... HERE.
thats not what THEY mean, its what mach030 means. it aint about they
I know he has shit for vision. But i heard he may need surgery to take his eyes out for some reason. I may be wrong, but i heard it somewhere.
lol Just because Nas said it's dead doesn't make it so.
@Maximilian1337 No he is not, look at his hair, lips and nose.
Ali is supreme in his art, but aint the "fastest sheep in the woods" while claiming Islam, or any religion for that sake.
he's legally blind
