As the prince's aide, Ignis has cared for Noctis every day since they were in their youth. Noctis can't hide his annoyance as Ignis preaches what is expected of the future king.But the two are tied by a certain "sweet" - and Ignis is secretly struggling to recreate it.

We do see glimpses trough his whole life of her interactions with him. As a kid, she pushed promto, for exemple, and other small thouches like she giving him her notes and stuff. She is there, quite like a arragend marriage, a constant "shadow". In this case one they don't seem to mind.

People that complain about Noctis don't realize that he's a fucking kid who grew up pampered. He’s been carefully taken care of and he's next in line to rule a powerful kingdom. Also his dad who I imagine he has had a great relationship with, is dying and everyone around him keeps reminding him of that so he's rebelling, but not only that his kingdom is being taken over and he's on the run all the while he's still a pretty young guy.
Exactly. At first I thought he's shirking responsibility (not reading the reports and not going to training) because he's a rebellious teenager like the rest of them. But then I realized it was because it reminded him of why they pushed him to do all those things and how the day his skills would be needed was the day his dad would no longer be around. Of course he wouldn't want to think about that, poor kid. My heart truly went out for him.
Actually he wanted to be rebellious yet he knows that his fate is already locked in that he will be the next king and everyone is putting up huge pressure on him and it also depresses him. But he already accepted this destiny and would take it responsibly for his kingdom.
Which is why no matter how much time he spends at the arcade, his conscience is gnawing at him. He knows what he has to do, what's going to happen, and what's expected of him. He can't ignore it or run away from it. He's forced to grow up much faster than he wants to. No amount of wishing he had a normal life will ever come to fruition.

I think someone a few years ago actually made all the food from the game in real life. It looks just as good and probably taste great.

Watching this makes me respect Ignis on a whole new level. Political archiving, babysitting an emo prince, cook, baker, tailor, butler, all that and catering to the prince's EXTREMELY picky eating habits.. I'd have lost my damn mind long before that. If he genuinely enjoys his work then I'm happy for him, but he almost seems like a slave to his work..

at first with noctis I was like "ehh, an emo teenager who's a brat" but then you realize that
a)he has EXACTLY the kind of background a character like that should, so he is actually quite realistic
b)has great character development potencial.
Noctis's Arc is coming to terms with the burden of becoming king. He isn't emo for the sake of it, he's actually pretty scared and insecure.

I love the creator and director for this project. You can actually feel the characters emotions, frustrations, love, etc. Those subtle body language , the swift eyes movement when trying to avoid a difficult situation. Its a rare gem, i hope we can see more of these expressions in future anime projects which I think is more satisfying than power ups, berserk, big boobs, etc.
And they keep out a lot of the anime tropes like sweat drops, big veins, falling over from surprise, etc.
The battle scene are still very weak XD
But this episode was great.
I love how Prompto is agonizing for a second there about the pie. Like "ehhh, I really shouldn't, my diet, but it looks so tasty..."

He has personality, theres weight to his character. He's not the typical disney or anime prince you see in generic flicks.
You can see he only acting that way becuz of his situation, he dosent want to loose his father so he has this rebellious attitude.
And Ignis, OMG, I didnt like him when I first seen him ingame trailers but THIS anime has showed me just how remarkable he truly is. I almost wanted to cry seein him rest his head on the steering wheel of his car after the disagreement with the prince.
Like WOW, this anime is just perfect to have so much emotion and quality in a few minutes.

It took me a while to understand that noctis is never perfectly fine with that remade food from tenebare because he doesn't want ignis to stop and try baking them.
He loves that kind of food. HEHE
A story about the best boys helping out their bro become a respectable king that they can all look up to.

Expecting A LOT from the writers of the game. The anime has shown flashes of brilliance and hope that translates over to the final product.
Even the shortest episode of this series has more story than the actual game.
This is how Bruce Wayne and Alfred must have lived... I really like this perspective, making a throne heir the main character and showing both the privilege, but also the incredible burden you carry in that role.

He's merely trying to show Noctis the proper way to live by cleaning his flat up - the 'class' bit of how to be prince. I heard its a 5 part series, so one more episode to go, then the long wait till November.
Ignis is the most pleasant character of all four, by the way.
More like the most boring imo. Noctis made this episode worth watching because of his layered personality and feelings about his father.

You get the treat in the game, made properly. The quest is called "Berried Memories" and when completed it prompts a dialogue between Ignis and Noctis about it being the dessert!

True, Noct's actual nanny was already killed by the medusa/basilisk-like monster which gave him PTSD (in next ep).
There's going to be a part of the game when ignis is not available like he got captured or ended up in the hospital or some shit, and the rest of them will have a cutscene saying how they miss his cooking.

Basically they couldn't get into the capital for the last 150 years. That made Niflheim give up and just "accept" peace 30 years ago because well. If you cant get into the capital the war gets too expensive for the attacking side.
So it took them 120 years to realize that it was a lost cause ? Yikes !

They sure wanted those crystals. And besides, 100+ years seems like a lot, but we do have to keep in mind, while modern wars don't usually take that long, a siege can take a while, and anciet wars were famous for lasting decades.

I would love for the game to have side quests like say...tales of the abyss, optional stuff that develops the characters and intimate goals. For exemple after a Ignis "quest" we would see him gettin' the danm thing right, and figuring out that wasn't the point, and that the frienship was it.

I believe this episode has a good reazon of being, I mean Noctis shows us his fear about losing his father, just think for one second What could happen to Regis on Kingsglaive, is he alive after the invasion? I don't think so, there are a lot of evidence on trailers about his dead.

really like all the group, ignis is really cool, driver, cook, maid, and laundery servise. but he really kicks ass
I get where Ignis is coming from. But I understand that the pressure to measure up as a King similar to his dad is somewhat daunting and ascending the throne will definitely mean losing his father, unless he abdicates, which isn't ever going to happen. That's trying to meet expectations and losing a loved one, both hard on anyone, much less Noct who can be introverted, adding to the strain. Despite that, I loved how Glad knows Noct well enough to tell Ignis to give him a chance. Noct might not look it, but he's trying his best. Nobody likes getting strangled. He just has his own pace. I do admire Ignis for trusting Noct in the end. The only mystery I want solved is how Ignis got into baking. Sure, he wanted to replicate that desert from Tenebrae, rise to the challenges and everything, but is that all there is to it? I mean, how did he start baking? Plus, what is it with his flat hairstyle? Haha. The transition to his current do and his generally more understanding/tolerant personality is a smile-worthy change. He was a tad too uptight early on. I suppose Noct has taught him in a way to chill out a little more. Haha. #brogoals

Ignis is Noct's "governess"/politcal aide/personal assistant/"mother." Glad is his trainer/coach/"big brother". Prompto is his buddy/partner in crime/sort of sidekick/"little brother". You've got the brains, the brawn and the heart to complete his transition to king. And it doesn't hurt that they're really good people and really loyal friends to boot. :-) While Ignis got his time in the sun here, I think I found a reason to like Glad some more :-) Oniichan is so cool!
