Translation (not official) for all of you that have asked: The prophet Miriam takes the drum to her hands, and all the women came out after her, in drums and in dance
I've watched this video numerous times over the years, and never grow weary of it! In fact, my experience continues to be just the opposite. I'm more and more inspired each time, lighting up my drumming, singing, dancing Jewish soul! Thank you, Zohar, and the beautiful women singers and drummers in this video! I thank you, Miriam thanks you, The Women Drummers of the Ancient Mediterranean World thank you, Layne Redmond thanks you, and all of us in the international women's frame drumming community thank you! May all be blessed by the power of rhythm, by the power of Miriam's drum!
Such a strong yet exquisite song. I like this version most of all. Zohar's modest cameo is particularly interesting by itself, for he doesn't take the stage, mostly stays out of focus and disappears abruptly. Along with the Lira sounds it fills the heart with unspeakable sadness. "How long do we have left? What legacy shall we leave behind? What is a single individual compared to a group? How could one influence many?" ...and so on. I love it when the art is so deep!
Hello all! The lyrics in transliteration are as follows:Tikach eleiha Miriam, Miriam ha nevia at ha Tof bien yadeha. Va teze va tezena kol ha nashim achariha va teze va tezena. Be topim o bimcholot vateze Zena achariha *2 Miriam Miriam ha nevia at ha Tof bien yadeha.
Mesmerizing music. The rhythms, the connection to ancient traditions, it´s in our bones. I play with Miranda Rondeau in Los Angeles. Just absolutely love this music.
Thank you very mucht for this powerful song! I write something about the song in Spanish and Norwegian: Dos piezas rituales únicas que rememoran a Miriam, la alegre cantora de Israel y hermana de Moisés y Aarón. This song focusing on the Prophet Miriam is sung to the traditional melody for Elijah's song. Miriam the prophet, strength and song in her hand Miriam dance with us in order to increase the song of the world. Miriam dance with us in order to repair the world. Soon she will bring us to the waters of redemption.
“Tikach eleha Miryam hanevi'a Et hatof beyadeha Vatetzena kol hanashim achareha Betupim uvimcholot.” - It is the verse 20 from the old "Song of the Sea": "The prophet Miriam takes the drum to her hands, and all the women came out after her, in drums and in dance." (This is should be the song basic rythm: DDD tk tk DT DT tk tk DDD... ; that one at the end unhappy I couldn't find, sorry)

And he took it for himself
Miriam, a prophetess
The drum in your hands
And all the women went after her.
With drums and dancing
Wonderful! Is it possible to get the music (rythm and words?) Would like to playand sing it myself....
Beautiful piece, it is very inspiring for me! I would love to know more about the song, is it traditional? What are the lyrics about?
👍👏👏👏👏
Is there an English translation ? Where ?
Proszę napisać tekst. Chciałabym wiedzieć o czym śpiewacie. Tworzycie bardzo przyjemną muzykę.
That stringed instrument that the woman is playing with a bow, does anyone know the name of it?
I am wondering if it is a relative of the Sarangi. There are no resonance strings, but the dimensions and the tone colors seem similar to me.
What are these drums called with the wider frame?
who is the drum maker?
Where can we find the frame drum everyone is using?
The drums are made by David Romasn Drums in Berlin.
www.davidromandrums.com/eng/site03.htm
Much success
some appear to be Cooperman drums made in Vermont
Special video to witness the women frame drumming and singing. Layne Redmond would have so loved to see this!
