You need multiple fish with varieties of aggression. I have a flowerhorn living with jack dempsey, pike, tiger oscar, red blood parrot and convict cichlids. No problems with any of them. You also need plenty of objects to break the line of sight in the tank.
I introduced a juvenile FH into an established tank with bigger SA Cichlids and Silver Dollars, and the little guy is smashing up the tank! The poor Silver Dollars. I had no idea how aggressive these guys are. Even the Red Devil seems peaceful in comparison! I hope it works out - it's only day three.

While there are exceptions with some very few Flowerhorn, in general there really are NO suitable tank mates for them -- eventually the FH will kill most anything you put in the tank, especially that's equal or smaller sized. I'm assuming you properly quarantined all 5 of those fish before putting them in with FH, but besides disease risk you're risking the health of both your FH and the fish you put in there (from death or bacterial infections sustained during fighting, lip locking etc.). Your FH will be MUCH happier living alone, I hope you've learned this by now after 5 fish and have stopped these experiments.
I'm sorry to disagree, but the examples shown here are of a flowerhorn fish dominating and harassing the other occupant in the tank. That other fish will probably not live long. In my experience, the flowerhorn needs to be one of the smaller fish in a large tank, preferably with several other fish that can hold their own and lots of decorations, pots, rock barriers - breaks in line of sight (as others have said). Even with all these precautions in place, a flowerhorn may kill other fish if you try to keep them together. I lost a beautiful 5-6 inch green terror from my community tank, and now my flowerhorn lives alone in a 75 gallon.

Sure maybe the 4 first guys, but not only did u see what happened w those 1st 4 fish, all actual fish of the same habitat being African cichlids, But ur final choice was a severum aka a South American cichlid! U may as well have thrown an angel fish in there w that guy, or better still, a $300 discus! Watch ur flowerhorn shred that beautiful extremely difficult to care for, South American cichlid.

Parrot fish is the best tankmates of flowerhorn,put them together with a 1inc size flowerhorn and parrot fish
