I think an important distinction betweened matched or open play and narrative play. The marker drone is okay in matched play but if you level it up once in narrative you can markerlight twice and that becomes 4 markerlights per turn and thats really good for a single activiation.
I've seen folks do that as well. I'll build a few basic Tau in case I want to try that. I've basically already done Wyrmblade, check out: Kill Team: Genestealer Cults White Dwarf Team
As for the ion rifle vs rail rifle, ion rifle does more damage against ”normal” enemies, that is enemies with 3 DF and 4+ SV. If they have 5 DF the rail rifle is better. I got 12.9 expected damage per turn for the ion rifle and 9 for the rail rifle. This is calculated using some simplifications and ignoring the AP and P, so it’s definitley not the real expected damage values.

I couldn’t find any good online calculators so I started to make my own which takes the AP and everything into account so I can get a more accurate picture for when the rail rifle is better (and get the actual expected damage outputs instead of these estimates)
Would love to see custodes and sisters of silence soon. I got a box of guard and the shadow throne set, plus the combat patrol is out this weekend. Too much on the pile of shame to get that yet though. 😉
I've found that the mark enemy movements ploy is actually a bit annoying to get (for horde or elite teams). I end up killing the enemies I have markerlit and then don't have enough markerlit enemies to get the VP.
Could you make a video where you hold my hand and tell me exactly what model and data sheet correspond to the assembly instructions? I'm new to 40k and I am struggling figuring out which model is which with this army 😂
Sorry Kaylyn, I built these on a live stream a very long time ago, and while you can find the recordings in the livestream playlist it's not very compelling viewing. The instructions do label each operative as you go along. Just checking did you make sure to pick up the Kill Team branded box with the extra sprue? Confusingly there are two kits for Pathfinders, one for Warhammer 40k which sells for £27.50 and one in Kill Team Branded packaging for £35 which includes the extra sprue with the upgrade pieces for Kill Team and more up to date instructions.
we have had this discussion come up in a few games and it doesnt stick for you for some reason... you can shoot after falling back (if you are 3APL), falling back is 2AP, the drone makes it cost 1... so you still have one for shooting
Yes I remember now. I'm sure it's from 40k that I'm thinking of when the ability to fall back and shoot was a special thing for seraphim and that's lodged in my brain. Also I did forget the sheild drone but managed to delete your comment because fat fingers and a phone

Very fair, not a big matched play guy so I have not really examined those rules.
I’ve seen folks omit the recon drone in favor of more bodies since the nerfs.
