    Thanks for the video. I’m 56 years old, wish I would have created one for School project back in the 70’s lol. Cool video for learning how steam engine works!! Thanks.

    I can't help but smile when I watch your creations. Simple and relatively easy to build and always done very neatly. You would be an awesome science teacher who would inspire his students.

    Thank you for such clear, concise and detailed information. Your channel is one of the very best for DIY folks who like to build things completely from scratch. And not just building things - for me personally, I have found your videos to be very educational.
    In addition, I would like to thank you for providing ‘spoken’ instructions - many videos out there provide too little information, or they merely have text descriptions accompanied by annoying music.

    This is a great design. I really appreciate its simplicity, and scalability. No high-tech machined pistons and cylinders. Minimal friction points. Power to weight ratio is likely fairly good.
    I would like to see one of your designs fitted to the focus point of a parabolic reflector dish. The tilted orientations will require thought on the cooling side.
    The motor could be held on a tripod to be at a focal point in front of the mirror, or the motor could be be built into the in the base of the parabolic dish.

    Please create V gate style with two can engines using the same heat source.
    I think lot of heat was wasted that could be utilized by having a V style 2 can engines

    Can you attempt to make a high performance one with better parts to improve efficiency as much you can?

  • @pg43608

    Failed to get it to work so far but it's been a good learning experience making the attempt. You make it look easy, but unfortunately I have not had success yet. I'm not sure if it is the balloon tension too light/too tight or maybe displacer piston issue. (the cranks definitely clear it ok). Is there an area you find most likely to cause problem when a stirling engine is not starting and having problems, something you check first? I used a brass 1.5 mm rod for the crank rod which seemed stiff enough to hold shape but was reasonably easy to work with. Thank you again for your vids.

    Hi, Ludic. Thanks again! Why don't you, instead of a nail, use a propeller with added weight so while turning it would blow air unto itself when turning to facilitate better cooling of the top/cooler part of your engine?...

    Nice and simple. Can you do a low temp Stirling engine like with a tuna can?

  • @eldaria
    @eldaria 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does it have any torque worth the effort? I mean could you driv a generator? And how efficient is it, compared to for example heating water with the flame and creating steam to drive a generator instead?

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both this engine and a steam one with the same flame will give you a small fraction of a watt when coupled to a generator

    Do you use baking soda or baking powder to mix with the super glue?

    • @aurthorthing7403
      @aurthorthing7403 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is a catalyst for CA glue.
      It almost instantaneously turns to concrete.

    • @raykent3211
      @raykent3211 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aurthorthing7403 agreed, bicarbonate of soda works great. But I've never tried mixing them, as he seems to suggest, as it sets rock hard almost immediately. I either apply the glu and then waft some bicarb at it or make a fillet of bicarb and drip the glue on.

    In order to be an "engine" it needs to do work (motive force) so how do we make them do something useful?
