6:05 - During the hasty Dusty Wheel livestream earlier today someone (might have been Bain & Chiad) made the fun comparison of the new Wot S3 poster to the poster from Bodyguard with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.
Twice and twice shall he be marked twice to live, and twice to die. Once the heron, to set his path. Twice the heron, to name him true. Once the Dragon, for remembrance lost. Twice the Dragon, for the price he must pay.
The second Heron was given during his sleep while in the Alternate Universe the Second night after the first Heron during the Great Hunt in Book 2! The Red Dragons are after He and the Aiel take the Stone of Tear in Book 3! The Books are much Better but the Series has Condensed the Books!
Credits to the Dusty Wheel today’s livestream: 37 spears, 3/7 is a Friday, and we just got confirmation that we are getting our release date this Saturday, that’s 12/7… is this too much coincidence?!
I might be mistaken but in Brazil (and definitely in other parts of the world, the day of the month is first and the month is second (day/month/year). Thus, "3/7" would be July 3. I hope the show premieres in March rather than July.
Somehow I'm only seeing this release now, over 2 weeks late. I've already seen your analysis of the teaser PrimeVideo finally released. It's good to have you back. Anticipating a ramp up from you, leading to 13th March!
Will you do a season 2 recap for casual viewers who don't remember everything that happened? I know they're time consuming but your season 1 short recaps were great
Please bro Breakdown the other season 2 episodes. There are so many things that don't understand but i want to know before Season 3. And Also Great Explanation.
Loren, I think He Who Comes With The Dawn might be episode four title. Rafe is listed as the writer for episode four and since he took episode eight of the last two seasons, I think he wanted to write this key piece of Rand's arc.
@@UnravelingthePattern That could be as well. If so, I'd think He Who Comes With The Dawn would be 305. I'm guessing we are getting more FoH than we expect.
So excited. Also, my first thought as to why he was carrying her was because I doubt they can or will want to show how certain people enter Rhuidean? But what you said makes more sense lol
I'm really hyped for the CCXP panel. It's past midnight on Sunday in my time zone but I'm going to stay up late. The poster is lovely too. I hope we get a Gawyn casting reveal soon. He's one of the few major characters in S3 whose actor is unknown. The level of divergence from the books makes me hopeful in a way. I'd love for the show to explicitly confirm a certain fan theory about Galad, have him wear a nice black coat and meaningfully interact with all his siblings, while changing Dain Bornhald's character arc.
@@UnravelingthePattern I first saw the idea in a fanfic and realized it actually could work in the show. I envision Asha'man Galad generally having a Narishma-like role plus some stuff involving his relationships with Rand, Elayne, his double niblings, Morgase etc. It's fair to say that some wildly book-divergent "predictions" will turn out to be correct but we cannot know which ones. This one is less of a stretch than Liandrin having a son. I think Dain's portrayal in S2 is consistent with him being the token good and reasonable Whitecloak, not that it's conclusive proof. In any case, I've decided to simply assume Galad can channel in the show too unless conclusively proven otherwise.
If the poster is a scene from Season 3 (and I have no reason to believe it is not), then in the show women who go into Rhuidian for the first time do not have to go naked. As much as it might be nice to see Rosamund and Ayolla naked, this is one change that is not problematic IMO. I never understood why men could wear clothes when they entered but women had to be naked.
I absolutely love the poster and would love more Rand/Moiraine interactions. Their dynamic is so interesting. However I'd be shattered if the show followed the books regarding Moiraine's fate. I'm praying that they'll change this part
It could be previous spears from the different generations. Remember they did not always use the short spears with the long blades. I think it was a Maiden who first used the short spear.
Yes they could, but I don't think that's what they're doing. I'm pretty sure the actor for Mat was seen in the same locations where Tanchico was shot with Nynaeve/Elayne.
Oh, Lauren, it's so nice to see and hear you again. The WoT buzz has been very silent lately. At last, we have something new to talk about. Hope you're doing well😊

Definitely an improvement on the previous posters for S1 and S2. I'm still skeptical overall as the show has not really lived up to my expectations but this is certainly heartening. Still a good show and I continue to support it but they have missed the mark on a lot of the themes, mood and setting. This poster though compared to the others I think is closer to that for me so that's definitely a good thing. It's just difficult, I'm just shy of 50 and have read the books on repeat since they started releasing and never stopped. I am never not reading the books in some form or another so of course the subjectivity of my experience keeps getting in the way. Trying to work on that and just enjoy the show but my own brain keeps getting in the way at times lol
I totally understand where you're coming from. I so wish they could make the full story with no budget or schedule or location restraints. Perhaps some day, but for now, since this is what we get, I try to remain positive about it and remind myself it's another turning of the Wheel. I'm especially excited for S3.
@@UnravelingthePattern yeah my own brain gets in my way at times. I'm hopeful, I am just tempering my expectations I guess after the last couple seasons. The tone/themes have gradually improved as well.
I've got a gut feeling that the poster is something darker than what you described... To avoid saying any spoilers I'll cryptically just say that I think a certain pier scene from book 5 is going to move to Rhuidean in Season 3, and because of the time constraints placed on the show, it'll be permanent instead of temporary.
I agree about it being moved up but I'm not sure if it will be permanent. (ALL BOOK SPOILERS START NOW) I think one of the improvements the show might make over the books (heresy!) is making Siuaraine the end game. - (SERIOUSLY - SPOILERS) - -- After the coup, Siuan gets stilled. Moiraine gets her power taken by the Snakes and Foxes. Rather than Nynaeve curing them, I think the show will leave them depowered and the end the show by finally laying down their burdens and becoming humble fishwives. A good completion for both their arcs of women trapped by their responsibilities to finally being able to choose their own happiness. Maybe it is wishful thinking but I think much of the groundwork that has been laid with both them would make that a natural conclusion.
@@sweenej5***Spoilers*** yeah, now that I think about it, my version of the story would leave a lot of loose threads that were planted by the show runners but I can also dream up some morbid ways the show runners could tie up those loose ends -- such as the magical banishment from Tar Valon being undone due to her death, so her body can enter the city without Siuan's blessing. I agree that I am not a fan of who Moraine or Siuan end up paired with in the books, so I would be happy if I were wrong and your version of the story happens in place of mine.
@@USCMM09 I love the books dearly but one of the cool things about an adaptation is you get a second pass at things. For that reason, I'm very excited to see Faile and Perrin's relationship on screen this season. In the books, it was . . . vaguely obnoxious? Kinda exhausting? But I think with good chemistry from the actors, it could be a great snarky feisty girl versus deadpan dude dynamic on screen.
when did moiraine get dreds? and how is mat going back to the tower after being a prisioner there, the dagger no longer has any hold over him as magic tea and tying the shadar logoth dagger to a bed post is the ashanrandai now? from what i understand they are sending mat to tanchico.
I really hope we get the Finn. Mat can always go through doorways in Tar Valon or Tanchico. It's not like he HAS to go to Rhuidean in order to visit Sindhol.
Thanks for the video. I loved season 1, even though I thought the styling was a bit off. It made me read the books, which I loved 10 times more. Season 2 I was quite disappointed with actually. I think a lot of changes were made to adhere to certain political views. Well see what season 3 brings, but for me the series is on life support. I hope it recovers.
I don’t like the idea at all that Maat doesn’t go to Rhuidean. That is a pivotal point in the story. This will be a ‘breaking point’ for many book fans. I think even more book fans wil quit the show if they cut that out.
While I hear what you're saying and agree, I do still hope we'll get Mat into the redstone door frames to visit the Snakes and Foxes. He doesn't have to hang from Avendesora or do it from Rhuidean for the story to still play out the way it should.
@@UnravelingthePattern I kinda doubt the hanging will occur, but they could have Thom save him. What I'm wondering about is what happens with the Cairhien battle.
I dont understand why switching actors for Matt's role has become such a challenge for the show. Honestly, i think the original actor was phenomenal, and it was such a disappointment when he was replaced.
Let me help clarify some things. We don't know why Barney Harris (the original actor for Mat) left the show, but it was his choice to leave. The problem was that it happened right in the middle of S1 (well, after Episode 6) and they already had episodes 7 and 8 written with him in mind. They had to scramble to not only re-write his story arc without Mat present in the last 2 hours, but they couldn't even get him to return to shoot some "pickups" or extra scenes. By the time S1 production was ended, they had re-cast Mat with Donal Finn, but now they had a major story problem where they had to completely re-write S2 with Mat separated from Rand and Perrin and the others. Originally they wanted to do the Great Hunt storyline with all three boys together searching for the Horn, but they couldn't make it work with how they rushed to end S1 without Mat, so that's where all of these strange changes for Mat's story arc come from. Now, they still have to get Mat to Tar Valon to get him fully healed from the dagger's influence (if they go that route) and they have to have his luck kick in. I think they decided it would be easier to combine the Tanchico and Ebou Dar storylines and just have Mat with the girls there. My hope is that they can still have his snake/foxes experiences, they just won't link back to Rhuidean. Hope this is helpful!
If they're going to Tanchico, why would they need to go back to the tower? Let me guess, "to lean into the Aes Sedai". How much screen time did the Bene Gessirit get across the Dune movies for us to know their role? Why do we need to see Mat/Gawyn/Galad after we've seen him led the Heroes running through the Seanchan?
i am sorry but nothing in this poster represents robert jordans story. not even canon for the show itself moiraine does not have dreds, she does not wear wise ones cloths, those are english spears many have boar lugs on them which the Aiel do not use, why would rand be carrying anyone let alone moiraine out of rhuidean. the only one he would possibly carry would be aveindha after her wise ones test. literally the only character with dredds in the show. this just shows they are straying further from the books.
@@UnravelingthePattern those are literal dreds not dirt, zoom in, they are tied to keep them from her face. ntm when did they give a complete wardrobe make over.
I am beyond disappointed that the writers have all but destroyed Mat’s storyline. I get that there were actor changes, but that does not excuse the crap that was written for him and his family from the beginning imho.
I understand your frustration. Imagine how they must've felt when he left. It sucks but I choose to stay positive. I hope they'll re-align him with the books soon.
SPOILERS: For non book peeps. Me too. They removed the Finn didnt they? Which in turned has removed 1/2 of Matts "powers" and his keepsakes. Luck from the dagger is still there hopefully but the memories from his visit through the twisted redstone doorframes are now gone? How will he become the General of the Armies. His hat, his Ashandarei. The Tower of Ghenjei and the Moiraine rescue. Such a domino effect by removing something that they could of done with a bit of creativity, lighting and good CGI in a sudio. Fantasy as a genre has many sub types, adaptions seems to always follow the path of dumbing things down to the trope of medieval times with a bit of elemental magic.
