- Disney+ Hotstar has made some big announcements at Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim. In an exclusive interview, Gaurav Banerjee Head - Content Disney+ Hotstar spoke to Rohit Khilnani about their upcoming shows.

Request to the makers:
Let the star cast be spread across India (north south east & west) & not specific to one industry. Let the characters prescedes star casting & not their popularity or any other influence!
This is a classic which is close to Indians & the world. We wish it get its due credits! Excited is the word!

Please cast new people in this series Mahabharata . We don't want old actors playing young pandava and Kauravas . Just like what game of thrones did . GOT made star out of new actors.
We want actors who justify the epic story not the other way around .
Here are some points that could be taken:
SS Rajamouli as the lead director (no one can match the emotional connect that he creates with characters, Mahabharat has lots of it.)
Mix of actors from South North East West of India (don't need Bollywood nepos and starkids, get this point straight, people are fed up of them)
It should have strong CHARACTERS and not SUPERSTARS
every moment of the film should reflect strong emotional connect to the mainstream audience.
would love to see Hritik Roshan as Karna, I don't know why but I can feel it.
we need CHARACTERS and not SUPERSTARS ( I hope you get my point ).
Stay away from propagating an iota of propaganda, people have grown microscopic vision.
last but not the least, why is Karan Johar still in the movie industry? just why?

There are many charecter, warrior in this epic saga. We want hrithik roshan in this epic. He must be a part of Mahabharata.
I don't care who is the cast, frankly the cast should be fully diverse represents while of India 4m Delhi j&k, gujrat, Punjab, HP, tamil, Telugu maha, Kerala Bengal northeastern state (I know all names😏) & in between.
My only issue is INDIA & indians are not ready for this epic and brutality of this epic tale. India only think mahabharat as purity way but don't realise that Maharashtra is not only about Good vs Bad but it's actually about How bad & Grey are the GOODS and gods. Mahabharat is a brutal take on our Gods double sides eg balram actually running away 4m the fight & many more. Indians thinks mahabharat as strength symbol but in reality it's brutal take on POLITICAL drama of Human behaviour & gods.
So India is ont ready 4 it coz they take offense on anything and hijack whole creativity
This time don't hire so called big stars cuz all those budget will just get wasted in their payment. Instead use those money on vfx,story,screenplay & international promotion.
Hope they will make in such away that hollywood stars also being a part of it,,
Try to cast best actor across all over India based on their talent not on neoptism ❤

Mahabharat history hai, aur Uss jaisi Story duniya kisi webseries mein nhi hai, Mahabharat ko HBOmax ko banana chihe
Game of thrones jaisi Epic VFX, Character hone chihe, Bollywood ke koi stars isme nhi hona chihe.
Hope it is good not VFX heavy only. Writing is the most important part of it. And making it global it need to be perfect with VFX.
And mainly use same music as in star plus version.

Don't change the aesthetics of Mahabharata just because you feel. Power of Mahabharat is in vibe of those characters like Mukesh khanna's Pitahmah. Only dialogues won't work. You need a very very strong reflecting of those characters from your cast.
And No matter what don't modernize it. Hopefully they can enhance war scenes, venues but core of Mahabharat should remain intact.

i knew something like this will happen someday, never a big fan of foreigners telling our stories, get ready for exaggeration perspective from there point of view of indian people, culture (every aspects: major and minor), accents, etc for global audience to enjoy for exoticism like caste, arrange marriage, gender inequality, poverty. Thats why i was never a fan of our movies getting popular globally because our producers will make indian movies with keeping foreign market in mind and foreign movies making content on india for exoticism, and judgement on india which is done by netflix many time and disney has tried it sometimes. Thats why i always said indian movies should be about india for indian audience by indian creators

I may sound biased but if there is no hrithik roshan in this mahabharat either as karna or arjun it will be a incomplete feeling for me . Though I will watch it with the same spiritual energy and excitement that i have watched the previous BR CHOPRA adaptation of Mahabharata.

@@tufini9667 is your knowledge of Mahabharat coming from TV show adaptation? Because Mahabharat war was an historical event, the tale passed down over thousands of years orally and recorded in textual form much later. Supernatural elements have been added for purpose of storytelling and theatrics. It's like saying Ravaan was 10 headed, which was written metaphorically. And when we start treating such phrases into literal sense, it reduces history to a fantasy tale and it loses importance.
Also,Im not sure which Gods and Goddesses are you referring to.
@@essee3984 if that is the way story to be told i am sure in india there is not enough technicalities to picturise the story to the screen. We are far behind the western capabilities. Things takes time. For now animation is the best option it takes many liberties, story gets infinite limit .

Please consult Hindu Gurus (Sadhguru has some great insights) also and nothing of Urduwood influences please. It's a risky project, it will be scrutinized in detail, little carelessness and the whole thing will become toxic.

Mahabharata war is all about the intelligence warfare between Krishna and shakuni, they must focus on them more, other characters like Karn, Arjun, bhism, duryodhan, are not that important as they are just pyada in the hands of these two genius.

The photos u have put out looks like animation. It should be a realistic fiction with historical feel. If it looks like an anime it may not succeed
