    Hey Connie, just wanted to thank you for this AMAZING recipe. This is the best scones my husband and I ever had, vegan or non-vegan. I make it at least once a week, or ever two weeks. I do replace cane sugar to coconut sugar, adds a tan and we just love it that way. Thanks again!

    I have to say, Connie, I love your channel. This video is my favorite so far. Everyone should learn by example of someone's life experiences. Thank you for sharing. I just wish us viewers could be sitting around the kitchen picking your brains and hearing stories of your ancestors. I love your "simplicity" style and point-blank view on veganism. I relate to throwing some items that pop put of the pantry for you. We cook the same, I'm still learning the vegan way and you make it all make sense. Thank you.

    Hi Connie - Happy New Year to you all!
    I've been experimenting with your scone recipe, and to borrow a line from Bob Dylan: "I would not feel so all alone, everybody must get sconed."
    Since you posted this recipe I've made blueberry, cranberry, chokeberry, plumb, fig, pistachio and crabapple. Today I will be making raspberry.
    For the sweet flavored fruits and berries I have used used unflavored soy milk (less stress on the bees; haven't yet tried oat milk). For the tart flavors I have used orange juice or cold pressed apple cider (unfiltered).
    I have used 1/2 vegan oleo and 1/2 vegan shortening (not coconut due to environmental impact). Often I stick the dry and oils mixture into the freezer after cutting-in the first time... as you suggest it is best to keep these cold.
    The rest has been the same. Some take a little longer to cook but I have no problem staring at the oven when the kitchen smells so good!
    I also found that the juicy fruits and berries work best when I add them to the dry ingredients first (and if frozen I keep them frozen until needed). Then later fold this into mix the wet ingredients.
    I've also been forming them with two scoops of a number 1 scooper rather than the more traditional shape as this provides more even crispness.
    Thanks again for sharing your wonderful recipes!

    Thank you so much for this recipe. These scones literally are the best baked vegan recipe I've made so far. I've only been vegan for 8 months & the only vegan baked goods that are tasty I've experienced are from a vegan restaurant/bakery where I live. But these homemade scones are better than any I've had from retail bakeries especially when they are warm out of the oven. They freeze well, too. I used 3/4 c. Wheat pastry flour with the rest white flour. I also used coconut sugar. So my scones are tannish rather than whitish but oh so delicious.

    Connie, did you make the milk you used, or can you buy that milk combo in Canada? If you make the milk, what do you use the okara for? And, do you have a link for the jam you showed in this video? I haven’t looked for it yet, but I am going to, and if I find it, I will let you know. Otherwise, can you link the recipe? I’ve been craving scones. Thought about them while I was at the store today. Didn’t find any boxed mix, so I searched TH-cam and found your recipe. I will make these in the morning. Brown sugar just sprinkled on the top of a scone, then zapped in the microwave sounds delicious, but jam sounds good too.

  • @daksmom1999
    @daksmom1999 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok, the last comment/questions for tonight.....I found the jam recipe.....it’s just a very simple recipe I will be making when I get Ball jars or airtight containers. I saw the scone recipe you made with okara. Have you made cookies or cake with okara? If so, can you provide a link to the recipe. I will try making almond or oat milk just to use the okara to make cookies or cake with it.
