  • Just awesome. So simple to install. No magnets, just the sensor easily attached to your crank by one of three rubber bands of varying lengths. The CR2032 battery is long-lasting and easily replaceable. This works with ANT+ and Bluetooth so should pair with just about anything. I use it with a Garmin Edge 500. It's about $40.

I don't have much clearance between my crank and the frame. Can I put the sensor on the outside of the crank or does it need to be on the inside to work?

Chris As far as I know it does not matter whether the sensor is on the inside or outside of the crank.

Do I need to buy the edge ? I have the forerunner 45 and use Garmin connect 45 for my rides.

If you are asking how the Speed Sensor works, I have no idea. I only have the cadence sensor and my Garmin Edge 500 determines speed by GPS

Same here. Two sensors, both worked once, then broke. Unimpressed with Garmin.

It doesn't matter the brand honestly, if it's not coded and has bluetooth/ ant+ it should go

Joseph Tinsay The sensor has a IPX7 waterproof rating which according to Garmin means: “*The device withstands incidental exposure to water of up to 1 m for up to 30 min. For more information, go to www.garmin.com/waterrating.”
I Have ridden my bike in the rain numerous times and I hose my bike off frequently. I have not gone through much mud however. I have not had any issues.
