      I like it when things get fixed based on initial guess. In this case we were able to pin point the shored cap without going back and forth.

    those ceramic compactors often short I fix so many times short ceramics but thank you we get still motivating

    Many rabbit holes were gone down in repairing this iPad but was a success. It seems whoever took that screen off should be banished from taking anything else apart ;)

    0.45-0.48 amps usually short thats easy to find
    0.08 amps usually hard to find voltage leak that needs hard wire to find.

    Your fine tip likes to flood solder to its very tip and not ride upwards. I figure the clean sticky part of tip needs to be isolated to the tip and up higher needs to be oxidized and dirty so solder is not drawn to upwards part. Any other tips to make solder sink down to the tip?

    So what's with these surface mount caps being so crappy and shorting out all the time? I'm wondering if they are just junk or fragile or what? (root cause analysis here)......

      Most electronics fail because of shorted caps. Specially Tv's. Caps can wear out overtime. Thermal stress can also cause failure.
