Turkey is roasting in my oven as I post this video. Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate today! I am so thankful for you all. Cheers! Also, what book are you most interested in picking up? King of Nothing appeals to me and, of course, Hollinghurst continues to intrigue me.
New to your channel. Great intro, moves along and just the right length. I like your concise, intelligent introductions to all the books. Just subscribed.
You Are Here was a highlight of my reading year, 5⭐s. I haven't read The Women yet, but earlier this year I read another book about (American) women in Vietnam right before the war, Absolution (2023) by Alice McDermott 5⭐s. A very seasoned writer I hadn't read before. So glad I started a reading journal and started watching BookTube this year! Both Absolution and You Are Here were nearly perfectly-written books according to all the ways I evaluate writing. James, on the other hand, not so much, and not just because of the Tarantino-like ending. He didn't even get Huck's accent right even though he had the genius writing of Samuel Clemens right in front of him. I hated Erasure and wondered if James was partially a joke on the readers and critics in the way the book within that novel was. Of course I did like James much more than Erasure, just not gonna put it on my personal best of list for this year. Thanks to seeing it on many BookTuber videos, I'm interested in picking up Our Evenings, although I might not get to it until next year. So many books on hold at the library came in at once! (I also hope to get back to One Piece next year.)
I'm definitely going to read the anxious generation. I'm glad Lisa Marie chose to write the memoir. I'm interested to see her daughter's perspective on her life and death.
@@ShellyishAnd Riley Keogh is the actress who plays Daisy Jones in the screen adaptation of Daisy Jones and the Six. She has definitely inherited her family’s musical talent. She was outstanding! And sang herself.

I was intrigued by Lisa Marie’s book as well. She seemed to lead a truly unique life.
