    You're videos are absolutely the best!!! I just bought my first pin about 2 months ago. I've learned SOOOO much by watching your videos. I think I've binge watched almost all of your refurbish series. The Getaways videos are amazing. I plan on attending the Annual event in Chicago later this year and hope to meet you. Keep up the great work. I look forward to these every week!

    I see why they have the fancy box and added unneeded accessories (cloth, wire cutters, etc) as there is a whole lot of profit to mask for what the actual COGM of the fan, cables, custom mounting bracket, and custom fan guard...versus profit and make it more lucrative for the advertised cost. Good on them for the idea and entrepreneurship, if people are willing to pay that much for these for their fancyness and if they don't really have the skills to acquire and assembly the individual piece parts at their own cost savings. Does it work....sure thing it does. Can one possibly do it for

    Monk makes some good products! Glad to see a review of their flipper coil fans. With little kids, it is a product that most should have because they go nuts on flippers! ^_^

    First A+ on the video. No complains. The product however? you are right I don't need this. Even if I did need this I wouldn't buy it. Looking at the box I already knew what's coming. So I wasn't surprised when I looked at price for some 12v cooling fans on custom brackets. SMH I'm just gonna raise my middle finger and bow out. I can make this myself. Thanks.
    BTW pin manufacturers should be focusing on making the hobby MORE accessible not less accessible. To say that $300 for this isn't outrageous just screams sponsored video. That price is insane for what you are getting. I'll figure out something on my own, it won't take long and post a 3D model that people can download for free along with BOM for the fans and hardware needed. If Pin Monk wants people to actually buy their products focus on pricing and not pretty boxes and laser etched stamped parts. Just my 2 cents. Feel free to disagree, but I honestly don't know why anyone would.

    Very impressive difference in the temperature with those fans. Thanks for the video and honest analysis.

    Silly high price. This product should be 30$. If this was connected to an arduino and a temp sensor, only turning on when the coils were hot, a 100$ would be fair.

    Very nice review & installation video, Cary! I’ve had a LOTR (which I love!) for about 4 months. I’m getting sufficiently proficient enough that I’m enjoying some of those long games this pin is famous for offering even the novice, like me. I’ve been reading about installing alternate coils, but have seen numerous complaints about how these stronger coils impact gameplay. I was hesitant about disassembling the fan electrical contacts, but your DIY video alleged my anxiety about my ability to do so. Consequently, I’m going to place my order for the Pin Monk coil fans this week! BUT…. I just went to the Pin Monk website & they don’t seem to make coil fans for Stern LOTR Stern Whitester pins?

    I do love good presentation when stuff gets shipped. If that much detail goes into the presentation/box you know (for the most part) the item will also be quality. (Usually)

    Solves a problem, but feel it's over engineered and extra bits (flush cutters) which drive the price to high. Wonder why they decided to go premium for the few instead of something for the masses at half the price

    • @afattori316
      @afattori316 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the price has kept me from buying them. There is a cheaper alternative on pinside at least for $125 for three of them.

    • @willierants5880
      @willierants5880 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Think? This set is $300! Wouldn't pinball modders already have cutters? The margins on this product are egregious and quite frankly offensive, but Pin Monk is welcome to charge whatever. Clearly there are plenty of fanboys here willing to pay ANYTHING. Personally I think folks should be more frugal in their purchasing choices. It helps everyone.

    • @willierants5880
      @willierants5880 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@afattori316 There's nothing special here. Make your own coil coolers. For $125 it should be liquid cooled. For $300 Pin Monk should be sucking very buy off.

      @@afattori316 The ripoff ones are louder than both the regular 3D printed $130 Tibetan Breeze kit and the premium stainless ZEN kits. The ripoff ones also won't install properly on all JJP machines (and a number of others) due to clearance issues. Copying what's already made is no big trick. Doing it right is.

    Useful item and I agree with your observations about the box and extras!

    I use a 120-v $25 computer fan from Amazon, set it ontop the coinbox facing up into the flipper coils, moves soo much air under the playfield it keetall the coils at max power, my JJP Wonka left out lane kick back can fire the ball all the way into the Wonkavator on a consistent basis. Incredible how dumb people are to believe this is worth over $200, when my way works 1000x better for $25 and 1-sec install time
