Hi Laura! It is so nice to see you again. Well the fun begins now. I love all your changes. I am going out this afternoon when it is a little cooler and do some work in my gardens. Your Gardens always look so Beautiful. Thank you for letting us visit you for awhile and I enjoyed every minute of it. So until next time God Bless you and your family and have a Blessed day and stay safe my dear and Special Friend. Happy Gardening your friend from Williamstown. ❤❤❤
Laura, our gardening projects just never end, do they? We're never completely satisfied, always something new to try, new plants to buy! Love your videos and your down-to-earth personality. Keep 'em coming... 🥰
When you really think about it, though, how would it feel to say, "at last, I am done! Nothing new to plant, nothing to add, no more fiddling around with things." It'd be HORRIBLE!
What a difference with the arbor moved. I love it! Really opened the area up and draws your eyes to all the plants…and the tree!! The fence is just what the vegetable garden needed, feels cozy and welcoming. Reminds me of a warm summer day with bugs flying about and the noise of kids playing in the neighborhood. I can feel the 🌞!! Enjoy making it all beautiful.
I think the changes you made are exactly what you needed to accomplish your vision for the backyard. The arbor looks great on the other side of the house. It makes a plain area look very pretty and it doesn’t divide the driveway area from the rest of the backyard anymore. The tree looks great over where you put it. I hope it will be happy there and flourish. When you first moved the garden space I wasn’t sure how it would look but now I can see what you envisioned. I love it. Thanks for sharing your garden journey with us. I look forward to all your videos!
I really want to thank you so much for this kind feedback. It’s scary sometimes to share things and then worry that I’ll get poor feedback or unkind comments. But this comment and your very positive encouragement mean so much! I appreciate you and wish you a beautiful Spring! 💜🌷😃
Laura, love the changes. The new fence ‘bookends’ really frame the garden space; and the dahlias will be stunning behind them. I can envision it in my minds eye and it is beautiful! 🤗
Hi Laura! I like the new look with the fence panels, it looks GOOD and will be great with some new plantings! That tree looks like it has found its perfect spot.
Totally appreciate this and agree!! Makes me feel good when others can see it how I’m seeing it. It’s hard to convey a small space like this and I think people think it’s much larger than it is. The arbor was a problem and obstruction. Thank you! 💜😃🌷
Sorry to hear that. It looks wildly better now. The other fence served no purpose and was a constant reminder of a driveway that was no longer there. I just put a lovely picket fence between the greenhouse and shed and it looks better than ever, to me anyway. I posted a photo on my community tab.
Laura, you never cease to amaze me. I always loved your arch into your backyard, but now I'm loving the Red Maple by the backdoor. It looks like its always been there. And the fence panels by the veggie beds, great idea. Looks more like Mr. McGregor's garden.🌷🌷🌷
I agree the fence panels are perfect. When I look at it the evergreens in the back are perfect , and with the fountain going perfection. I love your videos and things you tell us. Happy Spring!
Love your lower white fence division and plans. My one comment is that you can see the whole backyard at once, and for me, I liked the advice I received that it is good to have something that creates a division, different viewing spaces, so that parts of the garden can be 'discovered'. I like the maple instead the trellis too, but maybe a 5-6', skinny evergreen across from it just to stop the eye ...? just my thoughts, gardening for thirty-seven years. :) Love your videos and garden updates.
Hi Laura! Love your changes and you are right - just those updates have made a big difference in the way your garden space looks and feels, so definitely keep going with your gut (aka - love where you moved the maple❤). Can’t wait to see what you do next!! 🥰🤗🥰
The relocated Bloodgood maple looks perfect in its new home. I have the same tree in my backyard by the patio off my livingroom. Its been there five years and I've had no issues with it regarding its close proximity to my house. It's a beautiful tree!
I love the changes you have made. Moving the arbour ❤. The Japanese maple looks perfect. However, you will have to keep it in check. My bloodgood has grown crazy...its over 20 ft high and 15 ft wide ( that's over 30 years), and we prune the sides hard every spring to keep it off our roof and have had to limb it up over the years. I wish i could share a picture here.I love the picket fence. Perfect division. Did you consider having the one end line up with the white trellis off the garage shed? Or perhaps a shrub or a large potted plant to take up that space. Just a thought...you do you.
The fence places look great in their new place. I always wonder about the changes you plan but then it happens and you were right with beautiful results. I am always impressed with your determination and vision.🌸🌻
Ugh I’m sorry. I grow tons of coneflowers here. Loads of bunnies too. I grow clover in my lawn and they seem to eat that and don’t bother my plants too much. A little nibble here or there.
Yayyyy!!!! Thank you for showing us your garden. Can wait to see plants and flowers and the new tree grow. They would make everything even more cozy and cheerful. ❤❤❤ xoxo Crane
I just found you again! I had subscribed but wasn't receiving anything. I will have a nice afternoon of catching up on your videos! Love the new fence addition.
I see a walking path from the driveway to the vegetable garden. Also, when you redo your knot, I think a small tree, i.e., weeping cherry would look nice in the middle. You need something to balance out the space since there is a tree at the other end. Nice work, as always.
I have no boxwoods. I live and die by my various yews. Prefer the evergreen aspect of them. Smaller circular knot garden would be lovely, scale appropriate , and soften the area. The Japanese maple is perfect where you’ve placed it and it will be appreciated ! Arbour is nice where you have moved it.
Laura, your garden looks amazing. I appreciate your explanation as to why you've made or will continue to make the future changes. It provides a great prospective in designing my gardens. Thank you!
I love the pickets and the changes you are making! I loved your picket fence with the dahlias and glad to see it again! My dad was born and raised in Trenton but moved to Washington, south of Seattle, when he married my mom. I always love seeing you NJ home and garden videos!
The dahlias will look great behind the new fence panels! You might consider adding a row of boxwood in front of the new fence which would give your eyes a place to rest and draw attention to your fountain. The boxwood would also soften the fence and give winter interest toward the back of your yard. I’m sure whatever you do it will be beautiful. 🌸
It looks lovely and I agree that when you add plants near the fencing, it will soften the area. Always interesting to hear and see your vision for your garden!
I have been waiting to add an arbor in my yard so that I can add climbing roses. I keep going back and forth because I don’t feel I have enough space but really want one. Thanks for the confirmation! No arbor.
I feel I sometimes force things because I want them. I totally understand your hesitation. 💜 you could always try taking a photo of where you want it, and drawing or overlaying an arbor on the photo. It helps a bit. I did that first before I added the pickets by the greenhouse.
Goraden looks good, and it will look amazing once the weather warms up 👍 I don’t know why anyone would “ scream” at you over a tree. It’s your garden, you do what you want. Besides the maple can be trained and won’t get that big.
I like all your new changes. You will have it looking beautiful and pulled together in no time. It's exciting to make adjustments to our gardens. After all, they are a living thing. 😊
I looked it up and was a bit surprised your property is a tad smaller than mine. You have done SO much with yours! I really have to step up my game. :) Son in law and daughter are moving out in a couple of weeks to their new house --- finally, after nearly 6 years! ----- into their own place, taking their dogs, so I will have my backyard back.
I actually loved the visual weight the arbor brought to the area it was in and it would have tied in nicely to the white fencing you can now see but am looking forward to seeing all the new developments this Season 🌸🌿💕
Thanks. In real life it’s hard to portray, but the 2 arbors, one after the other looked really disjointed and like the one at the back door area was forced. Thank you for being here and for watching!
That maple looks awesome in that spot! I love it there! I have a Japanese maple in a container that I'm finally going to plant in the ground . I'm very nervous about doing this. Any tips for planting maples?
I totally understand! I would make sure not to plant too deeply with well draining soil. When I planted it, I did add in some Espoma Bio-Tone to help establish the roots. I think you’ll be so happy once you plant it. I’ll be making sure it gets plenty of water the next few months over Summer. 😃
I think I would put two arbs that match the ones in the back on either side of the fence pieces to have them make even more sense and draw your eye to the back and make it even more of a room. 😊. Deanna
Laura I know you have a small garden but you seem to know how to get the most out of it. It always looks beautiful no matter what you do! Question for you... I remember a long time ago you had a snake somewhere under the edge of the garage are the snakes in your area poisonous and how did you get rid of it. I don't remember seeming a video on that but I do remember you mentioning the snake hanging out there.
Oh this is so nice of you. Thank you! 😃 I’m definitely not a fan of snakes, even beneficial ones, creep me out. We get huge black rat and racer snakes around every year now. They are not poisonous but sure scary to see. Not much I can do to prevent it. We live right up the street from a wooded creek. But, we only have seen them in the area over the past 15 years. I can only imagine it’s due to so much building and developments destroying their habitat so they are just all around now. One was living under our front porch last year. I do think I’m going to call someone to come check it out this year, I don’t want a den of them under my porch. 😭
@@HowsItGrowing I can’t blame you that would freak me out. We have garter snakes here and sometimes people get dens under their basements etc. I always worry that will happen to us cause we have a rock ledge running along our property but they seem to enjoy the neighbour’s pool across the street more than our yard lol. Harmless but not a fan hubby is super scared of any snake.
Hey lady Love all what you have done for your garden. I have one question we have a bunny family in our backyard which we love to watch but we were debating about doing a garden of vegetables concern they would be a garden for the bunnies. Do you have critters eating your vegetables out of the raised beds?
Hi! Oh boy I do have tons of bunnies. I love them, but they can definitely be destructive. The main thing I have done, which has helped significantly is to plant clover in my lawn. I know that’s not a look for everyone, but the bunnies spend most of their time eating that and rarely touch my plants these days. I had a nest of them born in my raised beds last year. 😂 I also use chicken wire covers to protect newly planted things. Its helps!
Hej Laura, I’m new here, found you after watching wine & weeds with Erin and really enjoying your channel. I’ve watched all of your videos and it’s really incredible how you’ve transformed your outdoor space. Love your personality, sense of humor, gardening taste and style. The addition of the greenhouse and the moving the veg garden next to it was spot on. The picket fence you’ve just added (I’ve seen it coming 😅) is also a nice touch. The Japanese maple is shining already in its new home but I’m a little disappointed to see this arbor go. Together with the the first arbor marking the entrance to your driveway gravel garden this rose arbor was a trademark of your garden to me. Really beautiful with the ZD rose and the clematis, pots framing the way and the knot garden next to it. I would really reconsider 😊 Looking back at your videos from last year and the year before really helps 😂 Just saying, maybe I’m wrong and this change will be for the better ( can it be any better??) Admiring your work and positive attitude, keep it up girl! I know it isn’t easy with full time job and 2 kids, same here ;-) All the best & happy gardening!
Your gardens are so pretty. I have enjoyed watching how you have changed and improved the design over the years. May I ask where you purchased your white trellises that are mounted on the walls of your house? I have been looking for something similar.
Thank you so much! I appreciate it. Nearly everything has come from Lowes or Home Depot. My recommendation is to look online on their web site. There are so many more choices than you see in store. Then you can schedule for in store pickup for free shipping. Works out perfectly.
Yes! I love the changes you have made. The tree is loking fantastic on the corner of your house. And I really like the fence and the idea of little cottage flowerbeds in front of them. What happend to your plan of changing the garage door? Tomorrow it´s going to be warm so I can work in my garden. (At least that´s what the weaterman said.) Hugs from Germany 😁
Thank you so much! It’s really nice to hear kind and supportive feedback and it’s appreciated. Definitely still want to update the door. Just one of many things on the to do list. 😂 Happy Spring and hugs to you! 💜
Hi my dear friend thanks so much for another great garden tour and sharing your beautiful greenhouse with us and your beautiful garden. Hugs and kisses from grandma, Sandy, and Debbie.
It’s a fountain cover. I got it from Home Depot. I highly recommend. One year I didn’t cover my smaller fountain and it cracked. Never thought it would happen. 😭
Hi! Asphalt is totally gone. 😃 We had it removed years back so I can plant everywhere in the space. I’ll definitely be adding more plants to this area and less gravel, softer feel. Before, I wasn’t even able to plant in that boxwood area at all, or where I have the urn and roses against the house. It was all black driveway.
Your garden is so charming, I love the changes. I liked the before and after, whatever changes you make, it’s always my favorite garden to meander through, so inviting.
Laura, I really enjoy how you are so true to your style. So nice to see that. There are so many trends out there but you have been true to YOUR vision.
Yes, that was my reasoning for taking down the arbor and original fence that cut all the way down the side. It’s much more open now than it’s ever been. 😃
Like the fence a lot ,looks really good near your greenhouse and arborvitae’s in the back . I did a fence but painted it blk last yr, with an arbor in the middle plan on growing vine roses 🌹. It just really adds the touch I feel . Looking forward to other details in the garden .
My hubby walked by while I was watching this, and he saw your knot garden. He said, "That's so nice! Why doesn't your garden look like that?"😮 Your garden is so beautiful!
I agree…(LOL, like my opinion is important, you are amazing) you have a beautiful arbor upfront. Your gardens are magical❤ Thank you for sharing. Thank you for all your beautiful ideas❤
Can I tell you how important it is! Seriously! Someone just said some mean garbage to me on here (blocked them) so your nice comments made me feel good! Thank you! 💜😃

Looks much better with the arbor gone and the maple is the needed vertical element that is natural rather than the arbor.

Admiring your work and positive attitude, keep it up girl!
Needs a pretty garden gate. ❤
I know what you’re saying and considered it. 💜 But I will probably leave it open.
Left my garden open no gate. Need room for wheelbarrows and it looks good.
Hi my dear friend thanks so much for another great garden tour and sharing your beautiful greenhouse with us and your beautiful garden. Hugs and kisses from grandma, Sandy, and Debbie.
What did you use to cover your fountain? Thank you.
It’s a fountain cover. I got it from Home Depot. I highly recommend. One year I didn’t cover my smaller fountain and it cracked. Never thought it would happen. 😭
Personally, I love the changes. I also think putting the arbor up in the new area wouldn’t 🐝 too much
I appreciate it so much. Thank you! 💜😃
The stained glass lamp in the greenhouse is beautiful! Where did you get it?
Thank you! Oh gosh, I think Home Depot. But honestly I’ve had it for probably 30 years. 🤣
Do you think you would ever take out the asphalt and turn that area into garden/yard?
So very nice of you. Thank you!! 😃
Where did you get your lanterns lights along your flower bed?
From Lowes about 15 years ago. They are discontinued. They were called Manchester path lights.
where did you get those fence panels?
Lowes
Where'd you buy your arbors
From Lowes
What zone are you in? I’m in Michigan zone 6a
Hi there! I’m in New Jersey close to Philadelphia. Zone 7b.
Laura, I really enjoy how you are so true to your style. So nice to see that. There are so many trends out there but you have been true to YOUR vision.
😍
enjoy your site, but don't get too crowed which is so easy to do because we love it all!
Yes, that was my reasoning for taking down the arbor and original fence that cut all the way down the side. It’s much more open now than it’s ever been. 😃
Looks great 😊 that's what is so good about garden's...always evolving. .if we did everything all at once we would get board. ❤
Exactly! That’s the perfect way to look at it! Something always new to try. 😃
Like the fence a lot ,looks really good near your greenhouse and arborvitae’s in the back . I did a fence but painted it blk last yr, with an arbor in the middle plan on growing vine roses 🌹. It just really adds the touch I feel .
Looking forward to other details in the garden .
Those nay sayers will be signing a different tune when the Japanese maple is all leafed out.❤
Thank youuuuu! 😃🍁🍁🍁🍁
❤😍☺
My hubby walked by while I was watching this, and he saw your knot garden. He said, "That's so nice! Why doesn't your garden look like that?"😮 Your garden is so beautiful!
Oh my gosh! Noooo! 💜💜 thank you. I bet your garden looks just beautiful!
@@HowsItGrowing I told him that your hubby helps you.🤣 He didn't say anything after that.
Lovely!
Thank you! 💜😃
