Steve Rogers is the moral standard that all superheroes measure up to. He is virtue incarnate. Not just the captain of the true values of America, but the captain of all those with the courage, ability, and will to fight for good.
Its crazy how much cap changed from the first avenger to endgame. He really became the ultimate hero. He literally snatched the franchise from under Ironman.
Even though Cap is my favorite MCU character, he didn’t snatch the franchise from Iron man. In the end, iron man made the ultimate sacrifice to defeat Thanos. Cap just got the happy ending he deserved. I will say he did go from a hero no one really cared about to one of the big 3. He took Hulk’s spot after they butchered him. The favorites were Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor, then it became Iron Man, Cap, and Thor.

He's the only one who's wholly and truly good, and his character stayed pristine throughout the MCU until the retired him. I love how in scenes like when he takes down the jet, it isn’t effortless, you see the shield get stuck and he has to think quickly and change the plan, jumping back up. It’s why Cap is so likeable, he isn’t all powerful but through grit and cunning he holds his own amongst people like iron man and Thor

EDIT: You might wanna check out a movie called Ghosted, with Chris Evans and Ana De Armas. It starts off as a romantic comedy type thing and then takes a rapid turn to being an action movie. The intro is a little long, but whatever, they're literally two of the most naturally attractive people in Hollywood. It's not too bad suffering through.

Before I saw the movie I was the least excited about Captain America. But the way they developed Steve Rogers' character was really amazing. A true origin story like Iron Man's. He is so humble and was a fighter before the muscles. You have to root for him. He's now my all time favourite character of the Avengers. I was highly disappointed by Black Widows origin story. There wasn't enough history of the character before turning into the hero. Not like Steve Rogers. I think that's why for me he's the best character.
No matter how many times john walker claims he's captain america, he'll never be anything or anywhere close to what Steve was or represented, steve fought for the freedom and protection of millions and trillions from earth to being the entire universe he fought so that others could live, he fought to prevent wars from going to extreme lengths of destruction and death, but most of all he was prepared to sacrifice his life fighting off an entire extra terrestrial army and a mad titan all to save the universe from having half it's life wiped out, steve rogers isn't captain america he's a goddamn hero
